Thread: Bounty Hunter is no longer a viable/profitable profession

How the *$^& am I supposed to hunt a jedi if I don't even know his friggen name until it's too late. Guess I just have to get close enough for me to figure it out and him to figure out he's being hunted and run away.

I suppose now the Bounty Hunter is a kind of Kamikaze. Sometimes they are in a group of people, I'lljust have torun toward our mission waypoint and start firing at whatever battle target happens to be there, no way to plan, no way to study your target and get to know your enemy, just dumb fu*%&#@ luck. That's great, good idea SWG.

So now with wasted food, equipment decay from frequent death, swoops, shuttles, and a mission success payout of 45-50k, Bounty Hunting has become completely unprofitable. Oh, I'll still do my best and swollow this lump of sh#$ called publish 20 and continue killing jedi since I have millions of credits to spend and I still like to hunt. But it is sad that the only ones who will be able to hunt jedi are the ones willing to waste all their hard earned creditsfor the thrill of the hunt. Bounty Hunter is no longer a viable profession, unless you like doing NPC missions 'till you go crazy.

I'm doing my best to sweat this one out until something gets fixed. But my faith and patience is limited, and at some point in time, if I lose that faith, and it seems that the heart of SWG hasbeen dilluted and twisted beyond repair, I'll have to end my time playing this game. A sad end, I had many fun times, but I suppose nothing lasts forever, not even my loyalty to a game that was at times, incredible.

BH Mission pay outs are the highest in the game. (NPC missions as well not just player) Not profitable?

Please do read the patch notes and actually play before drawing any conclusions. A few facts you might not know:

- Mission payout is the same as before. 40k to 50k from the terms and a bonus to bring it up to the same payout level you had pre-pub 20, total amount depending on skill points the Jedi spent in Jedi skills, same as before.

- You get a name from the seeker droid if you use the "seek" feature, you do not get a name if you use the "seek and track" feature.

The 2nd poster is right, they are the most profitable missions. But they also require the most. You have to buy droids, both seeker and arakyd (sp?), and if you're hunting jedi, food is essential. Plus, Kash means that bounty hunters have to pick up mission after mission to find a jedi on a trackable planet, which further means more droids. So it will be interesting to see the payouts.

Anybody know what the average payout will be?

EDIT: Nevermind, just read the post above.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in reality, since I last hunted which was over a month ago, you only need to buy one crate of Seekers and thats it. Why? 'cause they have been bugged since CU so they never run out. Although this could of changed as I haven't hunted in so long.

And anyway, the droids are as cheap as chips.

If you want the names then you have to use "seek" not "seek and track".

Not for me there isn't. If I wanted run around and blow up NPCs then I wouldn't be playing an ONLINE GAME

It's still just as profitable as before, it's not like there wasn't equipment decay and such before pub. 20.... The only reason it might be less profitable is you can't pick off 100k padawans all day.

I just went thru 3 attempts at killing a jedi, 2 failed do to a bug that wouldn't let me attack the guy...but, the one that did actually work...the Jedi, whom gave me the fight of my life I might add. But I managed to be victorious and my bank account grew by 230K. I was a bit worried about the payout when I saw the the patch notes...and how it would work out. It was odd, I saw it paid me, but it seemed like I saw a couple other messages dealing with pay pop up... didn't get to read them as they went past rather quickly. 230K isn't bad at all compaired to the 52K I thought I was gonna get and dreaded once I saw what I was up against.

That's nice. You choose to limit yourself as far as what you do in the game. If you went to a buffet and decided you were only going to eat seafood and got upset because they had catfish and not lobster I wouldn't feel sorry for you either.

LOL...that was pretty corny dude BUT, I totally agree with you. Theres a lot of other things to do in the game, and if worse comes to worse involving making some money, Killing a few npc marks isn't bad, I mean atleast it's not hard (maybe a little time consuming however).
