Thread: Bounty Hunter is no longer a viable/profitable profession

I'm glad I started this thread while I was agitated and ignorant, I got alot of fast information and responses. There's nothing wrong with playing SWG for a particular part of the game, for a long time I was a crafter, and that's all I did, it was all I wanted to do. Now I like bounty hunting player Jedi. Maybe I don't like lobster, so I'd go to a different seafood buffet

I was concerned that payouts were only 50k, I wasn't aware that there were added payouts upon mission success that totalled up to what they were pre-patch. Since it takes a lot of time, planning, high-end weapons, armor, and food, and (for me, I know I'm not the best out there) a 50% success/failure ratio, payouts of 150-210k are just enough to make money in the long run.

Thank you Eskie for posting that using the "Seek" option will give you the name of your target, that helps immensly. Thank you all for your comments, and for keeping your flaming to a minimum. I wrote this like an editorial, so criticism is expected.

How can you call yourself a bounty HUNTER if you have to have everything handed to you? quit whining about the reality of things and worry about more important things. Like what you're going to do when you realize this game isn't for you.

You don't make any sense. Bounty Hunters are essentially assasins. Assasins get a name and a sizeable reward for being successful (and also sometimes accept bribes to abandon their mission).

Other than that, I love the challenge of fighting battle hardened jedi, a player that is conditioned to being attacked by all sorts of bounty hunters. With the jedi's skill, powers, and experience, they make for exceptional foe (I don't hunt padawans, and rarely hunt full templated jedi). I like the economy of SWG and I love the dynamics of the Jedi/Bounty Hunter sub-game.

It may not make sense to you because you have no idea what I'm talking about. This guy is whining because he doesn't know their name. Maybe he should try doing a little "investigation"? (big word, I know) Instead of thinking that the life of a bounty hunter is "your target is here, hurry up and kill them", perhaps they should be more patient? more professional? I mean who would have thought that a bounty hunter would actually have to do some hunting?

I'm a mbh. (no, I did not respec)

I've been playing for 2 years, and I took my time working my way to where I am. I've always thought being a bh in this game was too simple. Get mission, talk to spynet op, send droids, kill target. This is an exciting new possibility, the idea of tracking someone down. If you all just want to flame for being so lazy and unimaginative, you are totally free to drop the profession.

LOL!

Devs had made BH among the best "tanker" profession in the game, which is still viable in PVE and can be in PVP along with something like rifleman/carbineer/smuggler. I am actually having fun for the first time since the CU went live as a BH, I stopped hunting Jedi after CU went live only having killed a 214K and 220K mark because all those respecers were running around killing everybody but the finished temps.

I got paid 160K last night, what you talking about not profitable... I got an idea, why don't you quit the profession?

Jedi Knockdown allows them to land 6 to seven hits on you, all while you are spamming kd recover. (unless u are also tkm. and who wants to get that close to a jedi when TKM can only do 5oo damage?) The CU destroyed this game because it has regressed to the point of winning a fight isn't a matter of who has the most skill , its a matter of who has more bacta spray you or the jedi(yes I know jedi use force heal so st_u.)

NOT ONLY SHOULD THEY PUT THE NAMES BACK ON THE TERMINALS THEY SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO FILTER THE TERMINAL POSTING TO DISPLAY JEDI BOUNTiEs *****ONLY*****!!!

No names this is BS screw camping ryat trials What if HES NOT AT THE RYATT TRIALS??? AND I WANT TO GET A MISSION IMMEDIATELY on the Jedi n00bs that duel in Coronet starport like there no warrant on them.

DOES OSAMA BIN LADEN GO ON TRL to co HOST!?!?!?!?No because theres a bounty on him and only an IDIOT would do that.

WE need a compromise, any IDIOT JEDI Who shows his saber or powers IN ANY STARPORT CANTINA OR MEDCENTER in a major TOWN SHOULD INSTANTLY have his name posted on the terminals.

In the last two weeks between my two accounts I've had over 20million credits. Today on my MBH alt, I had 1500 credits. I bought some crispic for 1000 and then used my JTL ship and went to Kaadara on Naboo. Got a random Rebel Jedi mission, went out onto the beach, launched the Arakyd, and killed those plasma theifs always standing there and got another 2000k credits by the time I got the message to goto Talus. Goto Talus, Jedi was offline when I tried to launch a seeker. Try again, Says the jedi is in Kashyyk space. I figure, he's headed to Kash, so I jump my ship to Kash, used a seeker in space, dont know if thats a bug, but I get updated waypoints in space for them, They arent headed towards the Landing station, So i sat there a little awhile, they finally left Kash space. I go back to Talus. My Jedi is standing at a starport terminal in Nashal, where I landed.

I run past him, down to the Chassis Dealer, act like im selling something, read the players bio, check out mastered professions, look at the clothing, look at the saber. Then I run back past and the jedi goes back into space.

I come to the conclussion Nashal is their base of operations and they are doing space missions. I go stand in the starport and wait.

I put all my food and pixie on my toolbar. And waitied right there in the starport, where the shuttles land. 15 minutes later, the jedi showed back up. I kept hitting tab until it finally selected them. I KD and lay into them with Adv. Critcal and Torso with a quickdraw shot in there cycling back and forth, the Jedi stood there for a second applying all their force powers and then finally came at me. I figure they used 20% or so of their force applying states to themselves and healing the damage I did right there.

We go around and around the starport for what felt like an hour, but must have been 5-10 minutes. Finally he ran out of force and I incapped and deathblowed him. Got a payout of 178k

I just wanted to share my post pub 20 experience. Its a bit of a rush not knowing what your going to up against, until now I had mainly taken sub 100k payouts. I took one 180k and one 223k before this publish and both owned me real bad. My other missions I never found the mark except for one 86k that I killed. Im liking the publish update.

That post got so long I forgot to make my point about the money I started off saying. Oh well Im stupid, Anyway.Even though I already had the food, food for taking one bounty isnt that expensive. 5k for a crate of seekers, 5k for a crate of arakyds. Id say 178k payout was mostly profit, plus I had fun.

Anyone ever seen the movie called the assasin (also known as point of no return) starring Bridget Fonda.

She was a government assasin codename Nina, that would be called up at strange times and issued a mission. Most of the time she never got the marks name at all, I recall one particular scene in the bathroom of a hotel, where she had to take someone out in a group of people, she was not given the description (no name) until the very last second.
