Thread: offering rides, load camping and mobilhomes cheating or fair?
- Offearing rides - offering a ride to a jedi friend to get them away from a BH, spamming offer rides to BHs to distract, or using offer ride on special forces to get them away from hostiles.
- Load camping - sitting at load zone at a starport and hitting a hot target as soon as targetable.
- Mobile homes - dropping homes while grinding to always to have a safe house within 100m.
It's common sense to accept that there's alot of player who use these tactics. There's no difference between factions or character classes when indentifying an offender.
Below is myposition on the above mentioned topics and if anyone is willing to touch upon these issues wihle presentingalternate means to encourage a fair playing field please feel free to post any ideas.
- /offerride: My opinion is if this is used while a BH is attacking a Jedi it should not be permitted. When a BH attacks a Jedi both parties gain a BH TEF which prevents assitence from other players; healing and buffing are not permitted. Offearing a ride is obviously a means of assitence and when used to assist a Jedi who is being attacked by a BH it's clearly a means to assist the jedi when the system is not "supposed" tp permit it. By gaining an advantage that's not generall intended is considered an exploit. To use a tactic that's permitted due to codding can be sonsidered CHEATING under these circumstances.
- Load camping: I think this is just outright rude. I would like to believe that everyone is able to agree that loadcamping is wrong. While encouraging a fair game it's best advised to step off a loading player until they move 10m and/or attack. Does anyone agree with my generall rule of thumb?
- Mobile homes: I've felt this is a grey area. My take was if it's considered a perminent structure that is avaible on a siad planet and is regularily occupied by either loot, furniture or just as a safe house then it's OK. I disagree with dropping a house at ever lair. I feel this is an unexcusable tactic that's intended to creat an unfair advantage by dissallowing a BH to engage their target. I have used both and I believe I've dropped a "mh" on 3 or 4 occasions. It's not much although once I was personally able to identify it as an innocent attempt to cheat I disscouage it although I prefer a perminent structure on a planet that is stretegically placed in a general grinding area that can be accessed any day of the week.
Woudl love some opinions here.
Thanks!

My thoughts...
Offer ride to Jedi friend to rescue: not an exploit or grief, but good use of a game mechanic.
Offer ride to spam a BH's window while in combat: exploit, and griefing tactic.
Load Camping: not sure about exploit, but I'm sure it's a griefing tactic.
Dropping a mobile home: May be considered cheap, but again, a good use of a game mechanic. If a player has lots available, they are his lots do do with as he pleases, even if it means bringing a safe house wherever he roams.

Thanks!
it cheating, coz the jedis are too frightened to fight against BH's.
i dont think any BH would use a mobile home if a jedi attacks him no matter if he could stand a chance against him or not.

I'm sorry, what is cheating? Can you be specific please. Would you also be kind enough to tell everyone what a "jedis" is?

How is it cheating?
Who says a jedi HAS to fight you? You're trying to kill them; they don't want to die. Whatever they do to escape is fair game.
the fireinds offering rides to the jedi used to piss me off until I learned that underhand shot will knock a jedi out of his freinds car. offering rides to a bh to clog his screen with yes/no boxes is messed up and when that happens i report the guy for harrassment. I just tell the csr that so and so started spamming me with ride offers causing massive lag for me. I don't know if they do anything about it but i've run into the guy several times and he's never done it again.
Load camping is totally fair lol, its not my fault he has a slower comp than me. i f he's attackable then you're good to go. The same for LD jedi too or afk.
Mobile homes do piss me off but now i bring a home with me too and plop one down right next to them and sit on my porch and watch the sun go down. Or while he is in the house crying and hiding from me i kill all the creatures and the lair he was grinding on.
All are "cheating"
1. Offering rides - Obviously an exploit. Group TEFs were taken out of the game. Your group mates are not supposed to be helping if you get attacked. Spamming the BHs screen with Offer Rides is BS. Usually its done by the group thinking they are helping the Jedi with good intentions, but its just plain wrong.
2. Load Kililng - Duh. Its the difference between going out to the lake and catching Bass or shooting fish in a barrel. The sportsman like way is fun, the cheaters way is just sadistic and does nothing for either the hunted or the hunter. You can't brag about the 12 lb. Bass you caught when he was in a bucket and had nowhere to go.
3. Mobile Homes - Jedi don't HAVE to fight a BH, but parking a house 3 feet from you and taking advantage of the fact that BHs cant go in there is most definately not working as intended. A Jedi going in his own permanent home that has always been there to escape a BH is however, perfectly acceptable. That's their haven.

Cheating is utilizing known exploits (called an exploit by the devs via knowledge base or forum articles) to your advantage depriving others of intended content.
None of these are "cheating". That being said, I agree with Spookibus. Each one is lame and I have no respect for those that use it.
I have the utmost respect for those that use the system as designed.
Hey Mr/Ms. Jedi. RUNNING IS ACCEPTABLE AND EXCEPTIONALLY UNDERRATED! Utilize it. There's no reason you need a ride. If you run, even in the middle of a fight, it's fair and should not be discredited. I actually respect this action as a good jedi tactic. Hell if I could force run, I WOULD when it turns south.
My last death against a jedi I actually had the upper hand, they fled. I burst followed, KD'd them. They got up and continued and I ultimately lost (lag healing doomed me). Very good fight and tactics.
Lastly, for Pete's sake don't spam hate tells to me if I camp your mobile home. You made that bed, lay there or logout. Don't expect me to stop wasting your time when you are wasting everyone's time by this tactic.

1. Its very easy to kill a mark that's mounted. They cant heal at all while on a mount...and burst run helps with this. Those multi-passengenr speeders are very slow.
2. BHs do the same, that is if you're talking about knights ganking overts / other knights.
3. Not worth the hassle. Its all about staying alive. Theres no written rule they have to die to you.
