I decided to fight a jedi mark, he had a psg on (ergo my 4.6mil hlc didn't do any dmg) so i switched to my Fallen hyper rifle.my question is;
How long does a PSG last in battle?
How many times must i shoot to get through it, destroy it's protection in order for my energy weapon to actually hit the jedi?

No I am pretty sure you can get thru a PSG that is ADK'ed, it just means that the PSG wont lose conditon when it regenerates.
If you stick your PSG in the toolbar, yuo will still see it drop from 100% to 0% as it takes hits but w/ an ADK its overall condiditon will never change. It will simply recharge.
To really know what was going on there, you would need to look at your combat logs and see how many shots you hit him with and taly up the damage. Most PSGs are no more than 2289 Energy protection
A waste of an ADK if ya ask me, considering how cheap PSGs are, and its a waste of time if the enemy is using a kinetic weapon.
To the best of my knowledge, a PSG doesnt block ALL damage for a given period of time, it behaves more like temporary armor and diffuses the shot before it touches your armor. (look in the AS forums for the formula used to calcuate protection levels)
If you combine a PSG, high defenses, synthsteak, and good armor, not to mention the PvP damage reductions, it would give the appearance you arent hardly touching him when using an energy weapon.
A good kinetic weapon with elemental damage should show quite better results.

you can still hit someone wearing a PSG,your average one is around 2k protection,thats not a lot if thats the only armour they have on.The reason your not hitting is more likely due to thier high ranged defense due to force aura or something like that

Thanks fot the info guy's, although i do seem to be doing more dmg with my kinetic rifle, i will try with the hlc. Wish me luck and good hutning.

I assume you mean melee defense, considering what has been discovered in the past few days about the defense mods

`Simply adding that you will not be able to disable it as its the best option, but as someone said - you can break through the regen but it will continue regenerating through out the battle with a ADK and help a Jedi more then a PSG that blows up mid Battler...
`If i was a Jedi i would have a ADKed PGS cause it would certainly help - Not much but in tough fight everything helps

psg's won't matter too much with the mcm template, but alas i'm a rifleman

Basically melee defense works only when you are holding a melee weapon and ranged defense only when you are holding a ranged weapon.
This applies to food, inate skills, CAs and AAs.

hmm... who discovered this I would love to see the Dev posting that says this cause as far as I can tell... Its false. My melee defense works just fine when im holding a gun... and my ranged works great when im using melee.....
Oh and on the topic of the post.... 7-8 high damage hits is usually enough to drain a PSG if you keep aup a high speed attack IE alternating ranged-placed shot you can wear them out pretty quickly to that only every second shot will be deflected by the PSG. Thats assuming every shot hits home of course.
Of course you may be referring to the mechanic that has been in the game since the very beginning. While holding a gun you take more damage from melee attacks... and while holding a melee weapon you take more damage from ranged ones. This has been in since launch same as increasing damage for any posture lower than stand. But as far as I have found when I increase ranged defense my miss rate and damage taken decreases when im holding melee weapon and vice versa. Just as its always worked.
