In my time as a BH, I've come across a few jedi who have been LD. I've also hunted many jedi who have been hiding on Kashyyyk, or in houses, or cloaked AFK. Despite my frustration at an incompletable mission, I still hold myself to such a high standard that I will not hunt somebody that I know I can easily defeat. It just isn't fun for me. If I know I can defeat them, its no different than running up to a lair PreCU, and turning on the spin macro. Yes, its xp, and yes its a few thousand credits, butfor my piece of mind, I cannot bring myself to kill an LD jedi. For my honour, I do not get people sending me hate tells, merely a pleasant congratulations for winning a good clean fight... and I enjoy it so much more.

Am I the only person that thinks like this? Are you an honourable Bounty Hunter, or will you do anything for a quick buck? Both types are perfectly fair, and both types are legally supported within the game. I'd simply like to start a discussion on this topic.

Well here comes the catch: I am also a jedi. This morning, I logged in (after a successful /logout, I might add) to find myself in the clone center. Much to my chagrin, I find that I have lost roughly 280k xp (not bad for my first appearance on the terminals) I have of course, submitted a CSR report, because I blame a bugged /logout more than the BH who found me an easy target.

The standard of honor I hold myself to differs greatly. I go after jedi I see treating non-jedi players like garbage, or ones thatI see pulling gank squads. I don't care what CLthey are.I dont grief them, but they are deffinatly hunted more frequently than others.Funny, most of the "requests"I get come fromjedi. My only regret is thatI dont have a higher success rate.

Well...I'll lay it out a couple of ways...

1. I dont take bountys that I know are going to be easy. If it's under 200k, then odds are I can take the person, and I usually hunt with a friend, so really anything less than that is REALLY unsporting. For someone solo, fine, give it a whack, not for me.

2. I want a challenge, I like to "live on the edge", so a hunt isnt fun if the threat of getting killed myself isnt there.

That's what I seek when I take a mission. However, I dont find it personally dishonorable to kill a mark who is LD. However, that's a spur of the moment call. If I've spent a hour on Kashyyyk looking for the mark, and I find him LD in Ryatt #6, then odds are I'll probably take him.

If I find the mark LD in a house, or an outpost, I leave them. It doest cost me much time to get another mission, and there is no challenge in that kill.

Personally, I think the question: "Are you an honourable Bounty Hunter" is a crock. If someone decides killing all marks no matter the status of the mark is honorable in their eyes, then so be it. While it may not be everyone's preference, I've got no problem with it. The way it's even written...." Are you and honourable Bounty Hunter, or will you do anything for a quick buck ?" gives the obvious slant. Even if the next sentence is a disclaimer.....

Game's going to have all sorts, and Bounty Hunter as a profession will get the best, and the worst of the game.

I semi-rp my BH and I view myself as an assasin for the rebellion, I hurt the imperial scum where they will feel it most and what will help the rebellion the most (keeping imppaddies from making it to knight and taking imp knights out of combat). If I see an imp jedi in a vulnerable situation you bet I am gonna take the mission. Does that make me dishonorable? I don't think so. Does everyone like me for it? Definately not, but it is how I enjoy myin-game time.

BH Honor = oxymoron

Welcome to the New Galactic Empire, a very hidden organization that has managed to kill far more citizens and destroy far more communities than theImperial Navycould have ever dreamed of.....

Good topic,

Okay, here's my take.
I have two characters. One is a straight and narrow Imperial. Roles plays the part, acts the part, stays within a strict pseudo-military code. My alt is the anti-thesis. He's a BH, a rogue, a "scoundrel" as Leia might put it. I enjoy the alter-ego aspect from a role playing point of view. From that role playing point of view, his "loyalties" to his current guild is due to the fact that they "pay him well". He is an opportunist. He is a villian. He will attempt to prey upon his mark at the mark's most disadvantageous moment. He role plays as such. I'll give you an example:

Took a mark that was found in Tharen. Drove there from a town nearby. Arrived in Tharen and noted a massive PvP (Rebs vs Imps) battle underway. Glow-sticks-a-plenty. I also noted that my mark was fighting on the Imperial side. I slither in and start shouting things like "Kill the Oppressive Imperials!" "Down with the Empire" while working my way into the Rebel ranks, hopefully appearing to be part of this malestrom. I spot my mark. I slink to a nearby GH and climb the stairs for a better vantage. I begin my attack. Before my mark was aware that he was being attacked from his flank, he was on his back. I ran up for the DB, ran back to my awaiting swoop and sped off, leaving the battle behind.

Okay, so not exactly "honorable", but my point is, this is how I chose to role play my BH Alt. My Imperial (main character) is straight-backed, rigid, militaristic. My BH alt is a refreshing role play change for me.

Just one person's example.

i would kill every mark no matter if AFK, LD or something else, but im only a little BH with less skills and money, so i would kill everything. Maybe my point of view is changing when im MBH or even have a better template, but for now i cant risk to lose money only coz im too nice to my target.

ps: i didnt ever hunt jedis, coz my lvl is too low.

I think this is very missleading as most jedi will group every BH depending on their personal experiance. I do have 'Honour' to some extent, but like previously posted it depends on the situation, i TRY to only kill imperial's and i TRY not to kill any afk or LD.

There are exceptions however, before i take a mission i ofter pm them and ask their faction, this isnt for my benifit as theres no reason i cant kill own faction but if i get replies such as 'your just gunna ahve to waste your time and find out' and they refuse to tell me. I will attack regardless of faction once i track them, i still consider myself 'Honourable' i tell my mark when i have their mission and providing they are a nice person about it and accept what has happened i will rez them.

for me, it's all about the sudden strike. i don't care which faction, don't care if afk or LD. this is because these days, you can actually be happy if u even get to meet your mark, as many are on kashyyyk doing afk grinding.

masterkiller- Its not really an arguement, it depends on the morals of the BH in question, i wont kill some1 afk (unless they are afk hunting) or LD, with exceptions like before, such as if they are on kys.... wookie land. Once your on ... wookie land, most morals will change, i will kill a LD or an AFK on... wookie land simply because chances are ill never find my mark again.

As I'm building up a BH myself, I concur. Actually I've said this in game to a padawan having a real rough time...

a) I will try not to use tricks like FD as first attack, waiting for a jedi to be low on health when doing pve and so on, bh squad ganking... That's just not my idea of fun.

b) Nor will I go for LD jedi. AFK is a different question alltogether. I don't play AFK...

c)When encountering my mark I will letthe mark know I'm after him/herand give them a chance when I'm close to fight it out 1-on-1 (after tracking). At that point a jedi has a few choices. Either accepting and knowing that I'm after them, or laugh/cry/whine/run/use safehouse/other exploits (like hiding on kashyyk)... If a jedi chooses to go to the 1-on-1, it will be a fair fight. I will use all the tricks I know and I suppose the jedi will do the same.

As BH a jedi may offer credits ofcourse to avert their pending death

If a jedi however choose to do the dishonorable thing, then I won't be treating them honorable the next time.Option a) and b) willbe voided. No amount of credit offered will be accepted either, and I will hunt the jedi until I can kill.

Well at least that is how I'm going to play my BH... Will die a lot probably, but all in good fun.
