Well, I got my last 1500 pts or so of frontiering done, sent a tell to Shubacca , a M.Ranger on Lowca. Asked him if he had the time to train me. I met up with him, got trained and there was much rejoicing. Well, i go back to Coronet, gonna pop my first HTFB outside the city to bask in the glory.
Well no sooner had I walked out than another M.Ranger shouts "Not Another One!" , well, i stop and /wave. She then proceeds to ask me who suckered me into being a Ranger. I was dumbfounded. She then says "I just think the tag looks cool, but its a useless profession. Hmmmm. I just muttered to myself and sent her a tell "happy hunting"
Its kinda discouraging to see this mode of thought in some people who play this game. If anyone is out there reading this thread and you have your profession "just cause the tag looks cool", Please realize that you will enjoy this game much much more if you find a profession that you enjoy and that you don't find useless.
Anyway, had to vent a little. Thanks to everyone on the ranger forums for all the suggestions and help.
And most of all, Thank you Shubacca for being online today and training me. /cheer

your not giving up being a ranger are u, I tend to ignore anyone who says being a ranger's not worth it, I find it good for hunting, and decent for some pvp but the community is good, and flaiming trade posters is even better

Ranger is a cool profession, been a Master Ranger for a year now when there wasn't many of us. And I don't think I'll ever give it up. Have fun and Good Hunting.

It's happened to me too. I hada guy laugh andask me "Why are you a ranger? You cant fight, what a waste of time."
When I'm camoed andtracking some hostile critters on Dath or endor, and eveyone else is too busy running from some critters that went agro on them, that's when I laugh. Especially when thier buffs have run out.
Ranger till the end.

And to RangerMoe, This is The Best Profession IMO. Who else can walk on the most dangerous planets unbuffed and not worry about Pi$$ing off every critter with 1km

heh, ppl say the same sh!t about CH all the time. "but....you cant fight!!!" oh sorry, sorry for not being another 12 year old CS addict that just wants to fight all the time.

-Nah, I still just get kinda puzzled by people who pick up professions that they don't really like. In a game where you can try everything to see what you like, why keep something you know you don't like. /scratheshead.-
Those people are min/maxers. For them, whats important is how powerful the character is, and nothing more. These are the ones scrambling to become Jedi so they can "pwn" others, not because they want to roleplay the process of becoming attuned to the Force (for my part, I like how the branches apply to skills, even though Survival should be in the senses tree or scouting/ranger skills should give reflex xp).
I like Ranger. I like dropping a camp and having my guildmates hang out in it (like my first HTFB - everyone ran around the camp, checking it out, honestly excited). I like building relationships with a lot of different players, none of whom would contact me if my tag only said Master Combat Class. I like the money I earn. I like that when I log on, I ask myself, "What am I going to do today?" and the answer is not "I'm going to grind," or "I'm going to sit in a starport and buff."
Finally, I like that true Rangers are decent, intelligent, considerate people who play the game the way it should be.

SILLY BOY!!! i like ranger...but until they make us better we're just like scouts..but teenie tiny bit better
and until we're uber i will just think the tag looks coool!! and it does!! and i enjoy the game probably more if i was still ID but i ain't sittin around for a week to get that outta the way! and i always end up takin ranger again ^^

I didn't mean or intend to step on any toes Tenoio, It was a combination of things . After that happened , I logged and had to get that off my chest. I will , by no means, try to tell anyone how to play or that they are a bad player or that they play wrong, because there is no right or wrong way to play. And along that same line, I don't ask other people why they have the professions they do. I apologize if I have offended you, for that was not my intent.

To be honest that is the first time ive heard of a ranger acting in that manner....................
to me the more rangers there are the better, because 99.99999999% of rangers are some of the coolest ppl i meet on this game. very helpfull ingame, ect ect.
also theres a certain kind of..........Patriotism i guess you could call it among the ranger population that i have yet to find in any other profession. kinda like at a firehouse.

It was my pleasure Xandur. Its actually kinda of funny that she was complaining that there was another Master around. Just a few night ago( the dreaded Krayt hunt which is pointless unless you only after a good time, on Lowca at least, because the Dragons aren't dropping loot) after you logged we went back to the graveyard and tracked a few more. Well needless to say we got Ks'ed by the same people that made us leave and when I got pissed and had a few words with the people in question one of the questions I asked was why they didn't get thier own darn Ranger to track for them. Which the mean lady replied, why do I need a ranger they are useless, my speeder works just as good. Well if they work so good why the bloody hell did I find them 1st. I have noticed an increase of Rangers on Lowca for sure, which can only mean one of 2 things. Either everyone is pissed off at the prices we charge and have gotten 2nd accounts OR Ranger is a better profession then most people like to admit. I like to think its option #2. The lady who was giving you a hard time is A. someones 2nd account and they just have Ranger to supply themselves resources or B. An old Ranger who is jealous that she is no longer1 of the 3 Rangers that used to walk Lowca. At any rate don't let it get to you. Your a great guy and one hell of a Ranger.
