Ritual sacrifice of Jedi to the BH Gods might not help the loot situation, but its a nice diversion when your lucks down on the loot front.

One trick I havent tried yet to get good loot is lacing my shoes the opposite way up so you tighten them at the bottom, cant rule out that as a factor .

i have always had bad luck in loot. for instance, i never even SAW a krayt pearl pre-cu (and i went on plenty of hunts) till a few weeks ago, when i went on a serious hunt for a jedi friend.

i never looted a holo, ever.
i never looted a nice sea, until again a week ago , when i got a +9 gen seed/+15 wep sys exp, and yesterday a +11 gen accuracy. and these are not even REALY good, just the best _I_ have ever gotten. i have looted maybe about 15aa's and 10 sea's in my entire SWG time. (almost 2 years)
i have never looted cells.
lotsa other stuff i never looted.

otoh, i did loot a black sun ace helm on my fourth duty mission. (still have it =p )and made enough cash from my craftign alt, to just buy stuff.

so dont be discuraged, stuff will come eventualy, find ways to make cash and buy what ya need. its purely a matter of chance. the loot hores will have a higher chance at getting stuff, but pup24 will take care of the cave campers, thank the Force.

It is completely random. I only do 3 or 4 missions in a session because I get bored with it. All of my level 80 missions produce an eliteor boss CL81-82 mark with varing degrees of difficulty. I recently looted a jar of foraged bugs from a CL81 boss and that now sits proudly on my mantle (oh wait, I deleted that). Over the weekend I was lucky enough to get a SEA with +14 Force Accuracy and +10 Double Blade Lightsaber Accuracy so the good stuff is out there. I would like to see more enhanced cells/casings for my WS.

The odd thing isthat I seem to get the best loot on my first or second mission.
