It works great against turrets. It would be good against at-st's I imagine, but I don't know since I am an imperial. The LPis an easy way to level commando if you already have pistol skills. I leveled the flamer line of commando in a couple evenings of casual playing, just having fun blowing things up.
So, the launcher pistol has it's place. I already had master marksman (for the extra +5 pistol speed), tried commando, and loved it.

One warning, another name for the Launcher pistol is the Lag pistol, the weapon makes large explosions which can cause alot of graphic slow down for people around you (and any brawlersin your groupwill hate you as standing in the middle of all the explosions is even worse).

Hi guys and girls, a quick question: Has anyone tested the LP against the Jedi block. Someone in the BH forum isposting thatit isnt blockable, so I come here for official word. Thanks.

well, from what i've heard, not experienced, the launcher pistol is unblockable by Jedi
if this is true and i can get a confirmation on this, novice commando would most certainly be worth it

It's blocked just as much as any other ranged professions shots are.

From my understanding, the Launcher Pistols still get blocked like every other pistol by Jedi. However, it does do Blast damage so if you had novice pistoleer and novice commando you would have every damage type (except cold). That is the only incentive I am aware of to getting the launcher pistol cert.

Jedis can block everything that is ranged, so they can block the launcher pistol. The only reason for picking up the launcher pistol is to grind out the early LLC boxes, because the LLC sucks even more than normal at the low levels.
Now I ask you this; saberblock does not affect melee weapons. Therefor, is it possible to use an LLC's specials, which count as melee specials due to the bug, to get past saber block?

Asa MBH who has taken down 4 jedi with a LP, here are it's ups and downs:
Upsides:
* Incredibly low or +0 range mods to everything. This means that at any range, especially at max that you stand a good chance of at least hitting the jedi in some form, saber block or not. It also means that you can run around and have very little penalties for it.
*Is a pistol for the purpose of specials. Even though it gives heavy weapons xp for using it, it still uses pistol specials.
* Can potentially lag your opponent. This is an unintended consequence of using it, so it's not really an exploit. The graphics of it hitting produce that wonderfull little explosion. If your opponent has his/her graphics set to a high level or if they have a crappy card, then you can cause some lag.
* Is relatively fast for a "heavy weapon".
* Requires no skills past Nov Commando, so you're saving some SP's.
Downsides:
* Can be blocked like every other ranged weapon. Saber blocks DO WORK against this weapon.
* Most LP's have low damage. My personal one is a krayt LP (213 - 403 damage, 1.9 speed)and I love it to death, but on average, the damage won't exceed about 200 at most.
* Can lag you as well. It's best to keep your partical graphics set at a lower level when using this, otherwise you may lag yourself.
* Has no AP at all. That missing AP lowers the overall amount of damage done whenever it hits the jedi.
* You need to be a Nov Commando to use it. Uses up some SP's that you could potentially use for SP's from another ranged prof. aka, Rifleman, Carbineer, or Pistoleer

Ahh the Launcher pistol - I love that pretty little hate machine! You are very right in the fact we have no skills for it, BUT - It is very nice being that it allows us to use pistol specials with it, smuggler and pistoleer skills in conjunction with this can be fantastic. People hate us when we use it because the animation brings about a lag hurricane - yet still cool.
Over all IMHO I love this weapon - good blast damage - not sure of the AP on it - Im sure someone else will chime in soon.
Youll really enjoy using the specials with it, I will be going master pistoleer along with master commando - just due to the fact I can bleed health ALOT and Flame DOT = Tons of damage. All the pistol skills are icing on the cake.
I hope this helps you in your endeavor - and love your pistol - itll love ya back!
PS you were thinking straight with it complimenting your mayhem - all your smugg and pistoleer skills will go along greatly together - Ive heard last ditch/LP = carnage - as well as the pistoleer goodies - Have fun

Thanks for the info. You told me what I wanted to hear. The biggest problem with Smuggler/Pistoleer combo is that you really dont have anything that can PvP well. Your bleeds are health (easiest buffed/healed stat), no dizzy, etc. So I was thinking that being able to lay on the Blast damage would be a saaaweeet thing.
Ill grab commando tonight, itll leave me with 12 points left, was thinking grenades line but you made a good point with Flamer...just not sure that the investment in that would be worth return..any opinion (Have enough SP for Flamer skillbox 3 or Grenades skillbox 3).

Oh my god gooney - the flamer is the best we have - incredible Damage, stackable, nice DOT. You really need to invest in this. Just think, and this is my fun way to PvP - but i 98% of the time PvE. Hit your target with a nice flame single2, than flame single 1, step on back and apply the myriad of bleeds from Pistoleer/Marksman. What you get is a VERY rapidly degrading red bar - regardless of Buffs. Feel free to sit on back and use last ditch/low blow etc etc or what ever you like, but with the bleeds and the flame DOTs - man you can open up a can of whoop ass! DEFINITELY GET FLAMER 3! At level 3 is when we truly become accurate with it - you really miss with it more than you hit until you reach 3, so just pull out you LP and start messin up quenckers on Dant - youll have it in 1 buff cycle or maybe a little more. Forget grenades - unless you like commiting suicide(they hurt us too when we throw em) I personally think grenades suck unless you want a ton of combat exp - thats the new fad. Hope all this helps - I really think youll enjoy the flamer as well as the LP.
