I came back to SWG 2 weeks ago and im changing my template.

Ive been told that Ranged Defense in Defender is useless unless you are a ranged character. Is this true?

Some will argue against this but I think thats its not useless for a melee jedi...think about it, why do all elite professions have ranged and melee defense? Wouldn't make any sense otherwise and the ranged def line also gives you innate armor so its not that bad.

Ok, so, rather than having mdef what would you suggest?

4x44 or x444?

If you dont have ranged defense how would you protect yourself from a ranged attack..Aura...Works and it doesnt work? I would much rather have Aura AND ranged defense.

people DO seem to forget that you do get innate armor from x4xx Defender.

If you're strictly afraid of dealing w/ BHs then grab xxx4 for valor, but you will be pretty force intensive. If you're not afraid of either then just grab 4040 Defender and x4x2 Enhancer instead.
