Thread: Why are we getting a mission revamp and the smugglers are getting squat?

i guess his point, blixtev, was that there are like, one hundred other "lame" things with this game. and, we've documented and described the things that the community think are "lamest", and we don't understand why you would fix the things that we never complained about, in spite of the multitude of other, well documented things that we really hate and would like fixed.
What Blixtev does on his free time is his business. Who are you to presume to think that you could tell him how to spend his leisure time? Besides, personally I think the PvE side of bounty hunting was the lamest part of the bounty hunter profession. As it is now, the only thing worth doing as a bounty hunter is PvP. Blixtev's free efforts ARE a welcome addition to the game and enhances the bounty hunter profession more than you know.
The game does not revolve around you and your PvP l337 d00dz.

Jedi are the most hated profession ingame by the majority of professions, because of there constant attention, but recently I noticed alot of hostility towards bounty hunter because of the "attention" we are recieving.
I am beginning to wonder if this is the start of a master plan by SOE to takeaway player hatred from the jedi and place it on the BH's.
If we continue to get things we don't ask for while glaring exploits, bugged ridden professions and broken promises of revamps, many more professions will turn on us.
What really is bugging me though is if the development wants to show us love, why not combat one of our top issues like
- Offline missions showing up in huge numbers on mission terms
- Droids on Kashyyyk not tracking or giving names
- None of our states stick on a regular basis in PvP
All that will happen after this patchis ALL jedi alts and None PvP players will respec to MBH in the hope of looting some pearls or a cash cow, seeing a massive increase in our profession, again making smugglers, squad leaders, rangers, entertainers, etchate us.
Why must it always be a conspiracy theory? It is as simple as I was working on BH/Jedi missions and ran a few NPC missions and went "Wow, these are lame, Why would anyone want to do these?" So I came into work over a weekend and made some new challenging Marks, created some new loot, and re-itemized.
It was as simple as something was lame, I thought I could make it better, andfixed it up in my freetime.
Not everyone is about the PvP game, and even those that are like a bit of respite from it every now and then. Plus withnice new loot on there, who wouldn't want to kill some Marks?
you just found out they were lame now? haha we have been saying on the boards for over a year that NPC missions were boring.. I hope these "Boss NPCs" have good AI and actually try to run and hide ect...

Have you tried the smuggler missions? They are really lame, because... they dont exist!!!

Funny thing is FD was in game for about a year without it getting nerfed. It was not until JEDI used it to escape BH death that it got nerfed.
The funny thing to me it that this thread was about a BH saying that SMUGGLER should have gotten love before our newest love but yet a JEDI stuck his nose in here and started a flame war. You guys can't stand when other people get stuff, or even when other people think some one else should have gotten something.

Hey. Instead of coding what YOU think would be cool, how about fixing the bazillion bugs currently in the game that everyone is actually asking to be fixed.
If you ever find yourself with so much spare time that you can afford to create your own personal project, try picking off some of the bugs listed in every professions "top 5".
Sheesh... you people just don't get it.

I know Blixtev's name is basically mud over in armorsmith land, but in this instance, I'm going to take him at his word. If he's working on ironing out the kinks in the BH missions, it only makes sense that he test all facets of them, including the NPC missions. The assessment that they were "lame" pretty well sums up the feeling of most Bounty Hunters.
More than likely, this was something he saw as a relatively easy change that would add a bit of content, loot, and fun to the game. Speaking from experience, it is always easier to add things to a system or fiddle with constants than it is to totally rework systems or bug hunt. My guess is that this was maybe a half-day job.
If there's anything to gripe about, it's that SOE obviously doesn't have enough developers / coders doing this kind of thing.
The change he made is a good one but that wasn't the point. There are soooo many bugs out there (including several fromhis rampage through the AS profession) that need to be fixed before "nice" things or new content is added.
As far as SOE's management style (has little to do with the dev team I'm sure), they have always, since release, been event driven rather than quality driven. That is to say the only thing that matters to the SOE's management is server uptime andrelease dates met on time. Sadly meeting the release dates on time means untested code. Always has... always will with such aggressive schedules.
There is a saying for this management style... "You want it bad, you get it bad."
To make my original point in 1 sentence, "Fix what is currently installed before adding new content."

Unlike other here, I'm not going to flame....much. I'm just going to say:
Why the friggin hecks of hades, does there only exist 1 Blixtev?!?!? We need more devs that try out things, see that things are boring or not working, and fixes it!

Do you not see how this would upset other people?
So, you, as a developer, took personal interest in something and did some great work. Cool.
It's sad that it has to take you coming in on the weekend to do something, more sad that no one cares about other professions enough to do the same or that SOE doesn't have enough programmers in the first place to do it.
And the people that already have "content" have more of it, and everyone else gets shafted because no one takes a personal interest in it.
Smuggling, anyone?
It's not even a joke at this point...it's sickening. Two plus years and not a bit of true content for smugglers - just making what we already have (slicing) more complicated and for loot-hos only.
They are just the worst example, there are many others.
You were right in saying not everyone is about PvP, but giving more attention a profession that is already content-rich (especially compared to others) is just in bad taste. The haves just got more, and the have-nots are still SOL waiting for an invisible, mythical revamp that's been anonunced a half dozen times that may never appear.
Why did you have to come in on the weekend to do so? Because it's obvious the game is beyond the scope of being fixed by how many people are there. And it's also clear that things get worked on when someone cares - it's just sad that not enough people care about all the other broken and missing things in SWG and instead focus on BH/Jedi issues so reliably.

You are an idiot. I dont even know where to begin debunking this tripe that you are spewing in the forum.
Who got Feign Death Nerfed? ill give you a hint it wasnt The Jedi. Jedi were using it in battle and the Bounty Hunters Cried and got it nerfed. Jedi got this nerfed because they were using to avoid death... much like cloaking now. It was stated by the devs that no one should be invincible and that is why they were nerfing FD.
Now some bounty hunters are using other parts of smuggler i.e. advanced concussion shot, and Last Ditch. Advanced concussion was said to be broken awhile back. The Change was not due to Jedi it is due to it not working as intended.
Jedi do not hit for 2k every 3 seconds. I dont know where you get your information from but it is very, very wrong. Pre-CU sure back when LS did LS damage then they hit for alot more. Sabers are maxed at 800 damage. With the modifiers in place you may get close to 2k but not every 3 seconds. Tell this to the Jedi who are overloading their LS's and doing 1.7k+ damage every second with Force speed and not having to even use Armor Break.
More like 300-600 every 3-4 seconds if you have Force Speed, and or Master Lightsabers. Pffft... you don't know much about your own profession or the exploits your profession is using... who's the idiot now?
Last ditch is not being used as it was meant to be used. IT was meant to be a "Last Ditch" attack. Slapping a ST to get your health down then using it as a first strike is not in the intention.
If it was it would be called something like "SlappyStormtrooperInstaJediKill" and im sure the description would state that it is a first round attack.
Those of you that think the Developers are out to get you really need to seek some professional help.
Most of you probably dont remember Bounty Hunter when you had to have MasterScout/MAsterMarksman. Had less defense thana Dancer, and couldnt suppliment the profession with much of anything since you used so many skill points. I was there. I have been a BH since August '03 and a Master since November '03. But this is a moot point and I don't understand where you are going with this.
Bounty Hunter has come along way, and has had far more given than taken away. Do not forget your past. Heck the Developers even had a special publish that dropped most of the requirements to get MBH so you could dabble more. A special publish? I don't recall an actual BH revamp or a Smuggler revamp either. But I do recall 2 Jedi revamps.
Quit the incessant whining and learn to play your toon, and enjoy the game. If you cannot do either of those the /cancell. The game would be better off without your crying to drag things down. Wow... coming from a profession that uses the most exploits in the game, vastly overpowered for their numbers, ruined the GCW and made it to where you need to be a Jedi to compete and likes to try to be the superior voice on the forums...
I know there are more... but you get the point. There is plenty of reason for people to complain and "whine" about Jedi. A lot of the exploits affected more than just BH. Jedi are always finding an exploit and some way to get around the few drawbacks that Jedi have.

because smugglers have last ditch and are unwilling to give it up.
the BH's are a little different, when the subject of the changes to the missions came up, several reasonable voices chimed in after recognizing the need for change....those that were countering the arguement, for the most part, ended up being proof that the system needed to change.
when smugglers are willing to give up 1hit incaps (which should be prettysoon) they'll get the code that is already in development
That's BS! Smugglers have been nerfed, crapped-on, over looked and ignored the entire history of this game! Before the slicing changes they could at least make a buck, now thats out the window! They deserve a QUALITY revamp asap, last ditch or not.It sickens me that SOE would sh!te on a profession for this long! As a MBH I like the attention or profession gets, but our smuggler friends have been very patient...they deserve some dev love....not prison love like they have had so far!

I agree! I hate to say "nerf Jedi", but in reality, the only way to get this MMORG back on track is to nerf jedi down to the level of the other porfessions. In MMORG's you cannot have one profession that is more powerful than others. The player base will naturally gravitate to that direction. Thats why jedi outnumber smugglers by like 10 to1. Eventually , the only ones who won't be jedi are noobs and those grinding jedi. At the rate things are going, I bet the devs will start eliminating profession due to lack of interest.
I'm about to give up smuggler myself, the slicing bit is very agonizing, I have had ppl come to me asking for advanced slices and I keep telling them to go find the loots and bring them to me but I at least make a buck doing tier 2 slices but past that it gives me no benefit unless I loot the item myself and sell the weapon or armor for 1+ mil credit. Smuggler has and still is getting hurt by the game system and the abuse of abilities being used by other professions as stated above (lastditch and feign), guess I'll do mass factory runs of booster blue before I dump the profession.
