Thread: You want balance? Make MBH on par with Jedi Master
Yep let's decrease Jedi power. That makes alot of sense. You're going to tick off everyone who went through the prof grind, holo, and village system. Possibly even cause more than a few account cancellations. The decrease in power wouldn't be such a big deal, if it didn't take some people 1-2 years to grind to Jedi. No, it will be because Jedi is now a starting so you're going to have to throw them a major bone to keep them happy (and hopefully not leaving). Now what would that major bone be?
Tell you what the devs think kiddo, it's easier to leave alone.

back on topic, jedi need to be brought into line with other professions plain and simple. i don't care if they decrease the grind, make it easier, whatever. there is definitely a lack of balance in the game. and if you disagree just look around your server. jedi is a very sought after profession but if they don't make other professions equal to jedi then everyone will have to become a jedi in order to have fun. i for one love my professions and do not want to be be anything else.
whether you want to believe it or not, jedi IS an alpha class and that is a sure fire way to ruin a mmorpg
edited for a typo, i type too fast sometimes

I read up to this point, I might have missed something, but:
Jedi are 1.5 times stronger than BHs, BHs get first strike to overcome that extra 0.5.
If you make BHs 1.5 stronger than any other regular profession, turn it into an elite class with the same amount of grinding involved as in becoming a full templated Jedi - including possible xp loss and all the other goodies. Otherwise, BH would be severely overpowered in GCW SF battles.
Moreover, BHs are not the counter measure to Jedi population. You can slow down a Jedi grind, thats all - you cannot lower the amount of Jedi, so no population control possible. Its a bad idea to let one class of players control the number of players in another class anyway and opens huge doors for griefing, if anybody should control Jedi population than its SOE with game design.
dola-brun wrote:unfortunately this is a mmorpg, and with that comes certain givens. there should not be one alpha class that walks around killing everything in sight. i am not for making mbh on par with jedi. i am for making all professions viable. with that said, if you add a bh ranking system you will just get the same old stuff. a few people running around obliterating everyone else. i understand that the jedi grind is a long and boring one, however what some jedi fail to realize is that alot of players have been here for the same amount of time as you and have grinded alot as well(trying out different porfessions). it is a selfish thing to expect to be better than everyone else because of the grind. how many of you jedi actually have used your alt character for pvp? i am not talking about mbh doing a mission, i am talking about acctual pvp. i challenge any jedi to play their regular profession for a week in pvp and tell me things are balanced.
i feel this thread is a bit redundant, however i must say again all professions should have an important role and all professions should be balanced to compliment each other.this is what is definitely lacking under the current system.
great post
Personally, I LOVED the old system. As a MP bounty hunter I could take down 170k marks easily; it was just a matter of tactics. Of course, what was flawed with the old system WAS (and I don't care what Jedi says this was "realistic") the 85% saberblock--a Jedi I killed in five seconds flat before he picked up MLS one day would obliterate me in 2 the next because I'd never hit him.
I liked the fact that armor didn't help against lightsabers, because I liked running around looking pistoleer-ish. It made the game more fun. But, on topic, the point is, anyone who wants to be a Jedi can be one. It's not hard, just time-consuming. The sad thing is that to have a role in this game--which, in case you've forgotten, is called "An Empire Divided," which hints very unapologetically to the fact that it should be about the GCW--you almost HAVE to be a Jedi. I remember when I first bought this game, all I wanted to be was a bounty hunter, and I would think it was cool when every couple of weeks I might see a Jedi. Now, I log in and see powergamers bashing lightsabers in the galaxy's biggest metropolis for everyone to see.
Make MBH=MJedi? No. Make Jedi INSANELY difficult to get.
