Thread: Edge of map, in the water, mission incomplete
Does this mean that the whit dot NPC I saw on Rori was a BH mark from a incomplete mission (he was standing in a lake, well ON a lake)? And if so, why would he turn aggressive (red dot) an attack me if I got close.
AT Master, this issue annoys me but I just chalk it up to the hundreds of other annoying bugs and design issues in the game.
As someone trying to regrind BH on a different toon, it is driving me nuts. While trying to get through the Investigation III box, I go through 3-5 seekers to even get to the mark...then to have it poof or mission incomplete frives me up the wall.
I know I know...slice bases but that isn't always easy when i don't have anyone on to help me clear out the NPCs. My system lets me slice them solo but that usually involves 2 incaps -- so then gotta sit and do nothign for awhile until the timer is up so i don't die the next time.
So I am the silly one to have combined it with SL - lol. I am never known for having effective solo templates ![]()

HERE IS HOW TO AVOID MARKS SPAWNING IN WATER:
- Look at your planetary map
- If the mark waypoint if over water - go make a coffee

- Go kill the guy
- Loot him
- Drink the coffee
Exactly, It is amazing what just a touch of patience can do for you. I do this everytime I see a mark over water. I simply wait until the mark starts to move. Sometimes the mark has to move quite a ways to not be over water. Once they are on land (and by this time you can tell which way they are travelling, so you can go to the spot ahead of time) I take them.
Remember, that in the old days (no vehicles, 10 min waits at starports, etc) you never got to the mark before they started to move.
Although, it is definitely a bug that the mission goes incomplete simply because you get close enough to spawn the guy when he is over water. Clearly the system knows something is up, or it would not go mission incomplete.

800,000 people already went their way while you went yours....meanwhile 3 mil more people tried wow...and 1.8 mil are still playing it....we need small things like this fixed....not workarounds.
So it seems WoW is the type of game for you. Loot Junkies. Want the quick fix every second to get the lewts. Man, you just dont know how good you have it. A profession that gets to have VIP access to farm their own loot and not have to camp or wait in line. And yet its still not good enough.
Next complaint will be, "we need teleporters to get there faster, and all marks should spawn in player cities or NPC ones so we dont have to travel".
I see nothing wrong with the current system having some minor inconvienences with simple work-a-rounds.
I doubt 800K or whatever number you are pulling out without logistical facts went their way cause of BH mark spawns ![]()

this don't always work, you have to get close to the mark before it moves.
You do not have to get close in order for it to move. You can be 500 to 1K away and it will still move. When the droid runs out, launch another if you have to. And I guarantee it will be moving.
revert the code back to when there where no mounts or vehical. there where no player cities to jump to to get close. back when marks sometimes just didnt spawn or spawned in a tree and there was no way to get him out, back when if the mark was in the water when you got close the mission cancelled itself, even if he was on the edge of it.
play it like that for a month, and you will be extremely happy with the way it is now.
Would think a simple line of code could be added to not have to use work arounds though.
TH, couldn't a simple if-then statement be added into the npc bh mission code to take into account what is occupying the terrain? Maybe not the water but something like...
if location x = (player structure)
then move npc 50m y (where y = randomly n, s, e, or w)
Could this be done?
Also, would it be possible to make the tree's around kaadara non-collidable? I can't count how many dang arakyd's I've lost cause they landed in a tree and I never carry camp kits with me to clear em.
respec bounty hunters get annoyed at marks on water.
old school bounty hunters lives with it cause he remembers the way it was.

Thunderheart, Could you do me one favor and please explain to me why a Boss Mark would have a Jar of Foraged Bugs on him and nothing else?? (*If a Boss Mark is Gold <<>>'s Around his name*)

Why doesn't someone just sit down and program in upto 50 mark "paths" for each planet. These paths would keep the marks out of water, off the edge of the planet, and out of buildings.
I know that these mission are not randomly generated. I've been MBH since nov 2003 and completed my fair share of missions. During this time, I have had 5 marks spawn swiming under a bridge in downtown Nashal in the exact same spot. If these missions were completly random.. then the chances of me having 5 seperate missions spawn on the exact same spot would be astronomical.
Some sort of thought has gone into where these missions start ... if they were random, then I my last 20 trips to Yavin wouldn't have had me going to the North East corner of the map. On Endor I would get to see more than just the desert highlands where the gorax hangs out.
Some might say... if they program in a path.. then people will figure out the paterns. There all ready is a pattern... the marks move in straight lines, usually toward starports. If they were to program in "paths" they could add in twists and turns. So that tracking the mark would be a little more difficult than just figuring out where he is headed and waiting for him. If these marks really knew we were coming after them like the Spynet Op says .. dont you think they would do more than walk in a straight line toward the nearest starport?
What would be super cool .. is if the occasional "boss" mark was hanging out in his favorite bunker ... what if that "Assasin" was waiting at the bottom of the Akkuan cave... or having a chat with Lord Nyax ... So much content is possible with these missions... If Bounty Hunter is the most popular profession ... maybe just a little bit of spice should be added into the system.
