Jedi cloak seems a well balanced power to me, I would certainy prefer jedi to us this rather than run into a house.

I certainly don't think its an exploit that area attacks hurt a cloaked jedi. After all, my understanding of cloaking is it effects the senses of the watchers to make it appear that the jedi is not there like any other force power on the mind. However, they are still there physically in the world and could be run over by a bus for instance

Its very easy to spot a cloaked jedi anyway and even follow them without the use of target (target- I do think is a bug to be fixed) if you pay attention to the environment and look for the visual environmental artifacts that are still present. Its great fun to spot one, walk up to them and shoot boo! and then deal with the "how did you spot me? exploit exploit" tells afterwards and then explain to them how you did know they were there.

Well, there actually is a bug regarding being able to "see" cloaked Jedi involving graphics rendering. I don't think its "exploit"able, since you really can't DO anything to them.

*EDIT* Correction, make that multiple bugs.

I am not using an exploit to spot cloaked jedi, I don't resent your suggestion as I didn't explain how I am doing it but I do find it sad that everyones initial response to a "clever trick" nowadays is "exploit exploit". I guess thats just the state of BH vs jedi conversation we fidn ourselves in

I am using their shadow to spot them Since Buka_Starwalker has mentioned this lower down in thread I will explain how now.

I like to play with eye candy on as much as I can and so play with simple shadows enabled. Volumetrics just creates too much lag in high traffic areas even on my high end gaming rigs. Simple shadows shows a circular shadow under the cloaked jedi. This shadow moves when the jedi does. If I see a circular shadow on the ground with no visible means of it being generated then its a cloaked jedi. This seems to me a reasonable game mechanic and makes some sense if cloak is meant to work on my mind and convince me the jedi is not there rather than somehow "render the jedis molecules passthru for light"

If the person plays attention to their surroundings then its nice to be able to spot things like that and adds something to the "smart BH" notion

If the jedi is smart then they can use the other shadows to disguise theirs. Of course, not many do this because they are not aware of the shadow leakage in the first place.

I do consider target a bug that needs to be fixed. I should not be able to target something i cant see. Of course I cant do anything with this except follow, but I can do that with shadows anyway. I don't consider AOE attacks effecting cloaked jedi a bug though, sounds correct to me.

That whole volumetrics versus simple shadow thing is a bug, stickied in the list of bugs on the Jedi forum, and mentioned in other posts on this thread. That you can use it to see a cloaked Jedi means that you are using a bug. I'm NOT suggesting you're exploiting a bug (specifically said I didn't think this was an exploit), because to exploit means using a bug for some unintended benefit to your character, and there is really no gameplay benefit for your character to be had by sneaking up on a cloaked jedi and saying "Boo!", tho it is pretty darn funny

As for one of the other recent posts with the list of facts about cloak, there are a few mistakes in your list. Not sure where you got it, but you may wanna double-check your source's validity. One mistake, for instance, is the range for cloak, which is actually 20 meters away from any npc or player character.

Never seen a Jedi cloak in the films so where does this power come from ?

Only time I seen a Jedi cloak was in KOTOR 2 for the Jedi Watchmen and Sith Assassins.

How do you think Obi-Wan ran through the entire Death Star, disabled a tractor beam, and ran back to the place he started from? Did that one pebble he used as a distraction blind every Stormie there?

Seriously, he cloaked, but the camera had to show him so we, the audience, knew what he was doing. It's described what he was doing in the original novelization, but they didn't use the term cloak. Bit hazy on the memory, but it was something along the line of "bending their perception of what is actually there".

I should also add how great it was when all those thousands of Jedi cloaked in the movies. It was especially cool that you never saw them, because they were invisible on the screen...

Continuity arguments will not help you. No BH ever hunted a Jedi in any of the movies.

You know George Lucas said that the braids on Bobas outfit were not wookie braids but padawan braids. I'll have to find the quote. It came out around the time of Episode 2 release.

But you only use information that serves your purposes so you wouldn't know this.

I think it's silly for you to point out that no jedi cloak in the movies and then rely on something from outside the movies yourself. Don't you?

When did I point that out? But really is there anything that has jedi cloak in it besides a video game?

Yes. Right in Ep4 Obi Wan uses mind trick to walk right past 2 stormtroopers in the death star. And that's what Cloak actually is, a mind trick.

Good, and since mind tricks dont work on droids all bomb droids should be able to be programed to attack the mark without the BH being able to see them.

-BH: Damn these cloaking Jedi.....BOMB-BOTT! Get over here.
-Bomb-bott: Whistles

-BH: Go next to the mark, Blow up, andKill that damn jedi....

-Bomb-bott: WHISTLES!!!! (Translation: W T F!?!)

-Bomb-bott reluctantly goes over to the jedi using the bio sig the BH got earlier to track him and explodes painting the area in jedi blood.

Why would you tell a bomb droid to blow up something you were convinced wasn't there?

Thats a good point, but all obiwan did in the movies was make a couple of ST's look the other direction and make the storm troopers look for a seperate set of droids....not stop someone whos been scouring the galaxy looking for one specific person and was in the middle of a fight with him from attacking him. Theres a difference between "These are not the droids you are looking for" and "W T F happened to the guy I was just shooting at".

*shrug* It's the only example I could think of, and I agree it's not a stellar one.

But show me a bounty hunter healing himself with a stimpack.

Plenty of things in this game come from other star wars games instead of the movies. Cloak is featured in many Jedi games.

Here's a little cloak horror story for you guys, I know you will like it.

Okay, there is a gigantic bug with cloak. If you zone with it on, it does not break. Every indicationis given that it has broken, but you are invisible and untargetable to (at least friendly)characters. I witnessed this personally when I went grinding with some friends and they got stuck in cloak. As a medic, I get a little twitchy when I can't see groupham bars when we are fighitng something. I had to leave the group.

Well, someone on my server has decided to use this to their advantage. Not gonna use the E word,I'll leave that for the CSRs ifsuch a thing ever gets reported. Anyway, this person plays a BH/Jedi and likes to hunt while cloaked. All you see is his lightsaber and you can't fight back. Never witnessed such a thing, but I have friends in the game that I deem exceptionally trustworthy that have.

It shows a Jedi with a real nice cloak, but I have never seen one of those, does any cloak in game use those graphics?
Thanks in advance for your help
