So basically what you are saying is that if its in the EU or canon it is ok as long as it is not Jedi.

Ok got it thank you.

There are just as many things in the game to point away from a particular timeframe as there are showing one.

Jedi have no place in the timeframe of this game. I have clearly shown you why. Others have done the same. The developers will do nothing to change it because , if there are Jedi, just about everyone will pay to play them. So they know business well. But haven't a clue on how to make a "realistic" Star Wars Gaming Experience set in the timeline that "THEY" chose to set the game in. Personally, I have always felt since I first heard about this game, oh 5 years or so ago, and then learned that you would be able to be a Jedi, that they were just asking for a whole mess of trouble. Look at what it has gotten them. A divided player base (Jedi/No Jedi), constant "balance" issues and a consistent spew of gripes and whines from the player base on both sides on these boards and in game.

As for your second statement of "there are just as many things in the game to point away from a particular timeframe as there are showing one." I listed a few that were quite the contrary of your statement, yet you, haven't listed one single thing to back up that statement other than that in your sig, you have a lightsaber, and are therefore most likely a Jedi....so you don't have to say anything because we all know where you stand: You have your alpha, game-breaking profession and those that don't need to get one or leave. In all likelyhood, I will finish up the village and work on Jedi myself, since it is in game, might as well play it. The rest of the game is getting left in the ashes of the burned original concept of this game anyway. Might as well play a Jedi in a Star Wars MMORPG if they are available....

I just don't think they should be

I have a question:

I know the devs have stated that they will not create jedi-free servers, but have they ever given a reason as to why they will never do this?

There are a few obvious reasons not to make a jedi free server.

The jedi-free server will become the most popular server and drain all the other servers on players.

The jedis left alone on the regular servers will not have anyone to show-off for, which means the major content for the jedi players will be gone. And they will instantly quit SWG and go to WoW.

If they did make a Jedi free server, I think it would become overcrowded quickly. If they removedplayable Jedi from the game, they would have to merge the servers into about 5 total, if that. There are that many Jedi on all servers. If they took them away, every one of them would quit the game, thereby costing SOE millions in potential subscription fees, therefore shutting down the game for good most likely.

Thedevelopers have ruined their own vision, their own game. Until they pull the plug onJedi (pretty much cutting their own throats) or the game (much more likely to happen before they get rid of Jedi) I'll continue to pay to beta test it I suppose just because it is a MMORPG (My personal favorite type of game) and it's set inthe Star Wars Universe (one of my favorite storylines for video/computergames).

Oh and you will never see me complain about pearl drops...even if I have the gimpest of all the gimpest lightsabers. In fact, if I can help it, noone will ever see my saber period, as I plan on heavily roleplaying a Jedi...if for nothing else because none of the Jedi I have come across have had a clue as to how it should be done.

Personally I'd settle for a full on Roleplay/PvP server where to be imperial or rebel meant that you were always overt, Jedi would have to act like Jedi, and there would be no imperial Jedi.

if u look at population over time, u will understand that as the number of veteren players increases the number of them become jedis, at 5 months old swg had little veteren players and little jedi. but i also agree that vis wont fix the problem, but making jedi hard to get again for newbies and such. soe's advertising of this game clearly implys that u can become a ' JEDI ' and thus attracting more customers. i say soe should merge holo grinding with the village in some way. then therewould be less jedi's

Yeah, they are all too many in numbersAND in visibility.

A few months back i had over 400 jedi names on my list...I think that must have at least doubled now. Theres twice as many jedi as there are MBHs for sure.

Plz bring the game to balance and timeline. No MMORPG should have this big number of an uber class profession. Even WoW is an balanced game...SWG has completely failed that.

They have also failed in staying in timeline. The game is to take place between EP IV and V. There has been NO official statement from the devsto change this. If I'd like to play a game full of jedi I should play Jedi Academy or KOTOR.

I'm not gonna renew my account when it runs out, unless things change around here.

Moving on to Lord of the Ring Online...when it launches in spring 2006

so long...and get ready to start complaining about a party of geeky hobbits who get the one ring and log off or hang out in the shire, afk, all day long....and how unbalanced it is, and how easy it is for anyone to get the one ring and how it should have never been in the game

you know youll end up doing it, so practice now

personally i think that if we had a new server or two (i know it costs money for sony but it can't be too hard) that a lot of people would transfer to em (including jedi) so u'd see a lot less jedi and bhs and riflemen and well everything, it'd prolly reduce server lag and keep people interested in the game for a bit longer

This game really isn't comparable to the game you know 2 years ago.

One problem we are facing is that the Devs or whoever has not given us a new "mission statement" if you will, about what direction/time period (if taht's even possible at this point?) that the game is supposed to be taking.

Clearly the notion "jedi are rare" and "the game takes place between episode 5-6" does not hold true.

The devs and players have changed this game so much from Beta to what we have now that we need a new outline for a plot.

BH vs. Jedi really has nothing to do with any of the movies.

I agree that there are too many Jedi, but this is considerably an issue of server population as well. I notice more people each day reaching Jedi status, and I also notice mroe people joining this game everyday. In fact the numbers of those joining the game are probably greater than those reaching Jedi.I've been playing for 2 years, probably more. I got over the game not being like the movies. It would be cool, but the reason we're all here is to create our own Starwars universe. Part of that fact made me love the game long ago, and it still does. My only Issue now is with the Jedi, and thier increasing presence in this game. Solution ( because no post explaining a valid argument should be without an included solution ).

Create three new servers, and invite the current cast of accounts to transfer for one week free of charge thier characters to these new servers, thining out the population a bit. This onesolution would take a large amount of time, morso probably than the combat upgrade itself. In the end however things would slow down a bit, and it would give everyone the space they desire to enjoy the game.

Sony is MEGA RICH, I beleive they can afford this change, and I also beleive they try to make it sound harder than it really is. I work in the computer field, and I've seen what is possible with only simple editing, and creation programs for gaming. With the money that Sony has, I'm sure they have capabilities beyond our wildest dreams to make this game more comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone. There is no need to " Control " the Jedi population, instead why dont we spread it out a bit. Trying to ask the devs, and complaine about a matter like this is pointless, because you are asking the Developers to go back on the one thing that this game is based on LIVING YOUR OWN STAR WARS SAGA, IN YOUR WAY. So you see Ladies, and Gentleman it is not just about MONEY all together. There is also the consideration of alienating the very people which have given thier hard earned free time, and money to play this game.

I agree with many views, and dissagree with many on the same level. If there is one thing I beleive in however, it isthat there IS a way to resolve this growing, and aggrivated issue. Perhaps not thru my ideas, but thru the ideas of another. I have done my very best to remain nuetral in this post. I aim not to hate anyone, nor do I aim to please one set group of people. My aim in this post is simple, Expression of an idea, a solution to which all may benefit, and enjoy. I am not a Judge, and I am not a Jury on this matter. It is only my hope that you will read this post, and leave your computer with a new found outlook on this situation we find ourseles in.

Cada, *sigh*...

Every point you make, may have different words, but you are trying the same old worn out tactic everytime.

YOU CANNOT, WILLNOT, MAKE THIS JEDI POPULATION JUSTIFIED!

You simply can't bare the fact your l33tness is stained by the truth that's you are just one of many more just like you.

The time has gone when most players would crowd round a jedi going ohhh ahh.

Now it's more ugh god look another glow stick.

And you just hate that don't you eh.

ironic thing is if tomorrow sony decided that tomorrow there would be a hand full of jedi left,

and you would be one of them chosen few,,,

Well we both wouldn't have a problem with that now would we.

Finally tired of reading this thread, and noticing that the Jedi of coarse will defend themselves by throwing mud, and the bounty hunters retorting as predicted with likewise mud. Those who would rather come here to flame, and bash other positive players for thier efforts in not only keeping the peace, but also introducing one thing to that apparently many of you have no concept of ... Integrity. The more you try feebly to defend yourselves by poking unwarrented ill views, and throwing your wieght around, the more you dive deeper into the category of the typical Jedi's, and powergamersin the minds of the SWG Populus. Your presence not only in the game, but here on these very forums stains the reputation of the many I have met that have positivity in thier gameplay, as well as interaction with thier fellow players. I am currently working to acheive Jedi myself, not to follow the crowd, but because I feel it is something I would like to acheive for myself. Jedi is fun, there is no doubt about that. As we progress in this game, the numbers will become greater, but we must understand that population, as well as the development of new systems will have a large effect on this. Sitting at your keyboard, and throwing sludge at one another, as well as the other players who would rather find a positive solutionto helpall professions find some balance, while making them allbecome just as important, if not popular is just plain immature. I cannot stop you from posting here, however I should give you all one peice of advice. If you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem, which you have all truly proven to everyone here by your negative posts directed at making the next guy feel smaller than you, and players who are mearly trying to save something they care about.

The more the rest of you sit at your keyboards, and flame everything you see, the less SOE is going to be willing to help us. It is my Opinion that one reason we are not listened to is becase we are acting like children. They read these forums Ladies, and Gentlemen. Surely by now you must know that they probably spend alot of time laughing at all of us beacause we can't even get along, let alone work together to bring more to this game for everyone. While you sit at your keyboards doing everything you can to degrade others, the developers of this game view you as children, and unworthy of thier attentions. Why do you think not one player Idea has been taken seriously? When the day comes that we can finally work together despite our differences, the day will come that SOE begins to look at our Ideas. As I have stated many times before ... This is our game, and our actions will dictate whether we are worthy of such a great priviledge.
