It looks really nice and would be a reason to become Master Commando for but ....doh how could i forgot as a master commando u cant use any specials

So if u think the 2nd coolest looking rifle is worth grinding a useless Temp to Master do Commando and check the Quest Guides for Kash for this Weapon. Or buy it on for a few mio at Vendor.

The proton rifle is a random loot drop off of necrosis (sp?), not a quest. A quest would have been too fun/easy to give commandos so they get a random drop off of one of the most difficult mobs in the game.I went inlarge groups and got one on the 10th trip down.

Hey Nakhas

Commando's have no innate specials but can use any from other professions so I can still use master head shot with my proton rifle np and with my flamer root 10 people in close proximity.

We are a bit borked as it is dont try and pinch our only non AOE gun.

Also to echo what Ackehece said pre pub 19 looted rifles either A) have area effect active on most servers(currently very bad in my opinion) or B) do not work still on some servers. So either loot it youself of Necro or be very sure who you buy it off.

PS its really middle of the road damage though compared to some craftedrifles

The proton rifle is lootable from Necrosis in teh Myydril caverns. Its at the very bottom of the cave, you dont need a quest to get down there, but there is a quest that invovles killing the necrosis, so you can kill two birds with one stone. Bring a group, a large group, with doctors. Its a random drop, so you might have to do it a few dozen times to get the proton rifle.

And yes, they do work on Ahazi.

I've heard a lot of people say the proton rifle dropsapproximately 1 out of every 10 Necrosis runs.

I cheated, I got mine from a vendor. Wished I hadnt now as mine still has an area effect on it.

I got mine on my 13th...

A guy told me he went up there for 30 runs and never got one...

So im thinking its more 1 out of 20 (average)...

That is assumed to be correct. I havent heard of anyone looting a proton rifle post publish and it being AOE.

Soooo, can we turn our pre19s in for ones w/o aoe... my aoe is like 6m with 1 damage on stuff. not even elemental damage or anything

Anyone mind giving Lancalot some advice on Commando in PVP. I had heard that AoE was getting fixed, sounds like it HASN'T. I recommended Commando, Carbs, MMark for PvP because I had heard they were actually going to finally FIX Radius. Nothing like charging a crowd of your enemies in PvPwith a PFT and lighting them on fire, then pulling out an E11 mk 2 and wasting them from afar.
