The quest is from Karl Mosik, right at the entrance to the Rryatt trail on Kashyyk.
And for the actual topic.. I've seen considerably better carbines for sale by local weaponsmiths on my server. 73 SAC and about three hundred points better damage, but they go for about 2-6 million. Haven't seen anything but the Elite with these stats, but that doesn't mean they're not out there.
I personally use a Proton Carbine, because I can't afford one of those Elites until an auction comes in, and you can't beat the price.

Well im on kauri and a rifleman and have several 900-1000 dmg carbines all Laser/Dxr/E11's 1 of my lasers does 1250 dmg which is ok i guess

Well I just switched to BH/Carbines of over 2 years being MBH/MP and I was just wondering what the best cabrine for jedi is now?
Im thinking elite or proton?

i think this is uber answer 
nyms - uber min dmg (good against defence stackers)
czerka - low sac (well ...good for long fights)

Proton is out of the question. Its just overall a subpar weapon. I've never worked with a Czerka so I"m not sure how those fair compared to good elites, but I do use a nyms somtimes. I've found that I prefer my elite over the nyms in most occasions even though the nyms does more damage because A) My Elite has 55 more accuracy, B) Much more reasonable Sac so I can fire for longer periods of time. I find myself low on action too quickly with nyms.
