The CUwas thedevs attempt to kill 20 birds with one stone, but the only thing they managed tokill (further) wastheir own game, and now, with Publish 20, they are merely only further cutting their loses by asserting theirforced evolution, and making it even easier to become one of the mighty.

I load up and in, and prepare to dothe only thing I feel that there is left to do (for non Jedi characters)in SWG: huntJedi characters. Only full template Jedi, and I either do this solo or occasionally with a Rifleman friend of mine. So, we pick up our mark on the terms and fly into Theed. (where all bored exhibitionistJedimindlessly beat on each other) We open fire on her, exchange some damage, knockdowns, heals, etc. Eventually, whenshebegins to see that there is a possibility of her losing the fight, some obnoxious sychophant (name is Ari'a) gets in a vehicle, and begins the /offerride spam. After that, she begins to /duel and /enddueluntil my and my friendsFPS is about 1,and the Jedi we were attacking utters something about being out of force, and heads for the hills. (bait to lure us? we'll never know). This fight was atleast 20 minutes, and even if we had the will or desire to give chase, we couldn't because both of us could no longer move.

I have hunted most of the full template Jedi on the server and have encountered very few who actually have decency in them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok well .. first id have to say i disagree with your frst paragraph ( first listed on my quote that is) entirely ..

the CU was brilliant ... i couldnt have hoped for better ..the combat system is just awesome now ... strategy .. and clear cut understanding of the mehanics makes it ajoy to play .. no more hidden secrets within moves .. and glitches used as strategy more thanthe actual special moves were intended for ... i love the cu ...

fledgling armorsmiths( new players) were given a chance to grow and hold their own ... same with the other crafters ... but a total revamp of the system .. a refreshing wave washing out the stagnant artisan classes andplayer economy ...

strategy was implemented more than just super uber weapons which only vets seemed to have ....

the expansions ( kashyyk) were more contentquestdriven .. ( which added more depth to the game, in that we have the opertunity for fast action and looting as well as serious questing now)

JTL was kept pure and a level field of PVP .....

i loved the CU still do

OOO

now this brings me to your second paragraph ....its a simple rule of law that in EVERY game you will find cheaters .. nothing you can do about that ....not SWG's fault .. .not SOE's fault ... thats the players fault

OOO

ok now ... brings me to this statement ... and this i have to agree with ... a problem with having an alpha class is the misuse of the class by other players ...if the misuse of the class creates a negative experience for players .... those players either:

A: become the class ( become jedi)to escape the condescension towards them

B: learn to hate the class ...and take positions opposite of them in the community

C: leave, because immersion has been lost due to the insulting behavior towards them ... or the humiliation ( however extreme or light) they have felt ruining their feeling as being a viable and powerful entity ..

this is why its so important to give jedi something to fear .. to keep their ego's in check ....i doubt theres a way SOE could keep tabs on aggresive players who tend to harass, as in harassment ticketsor something ...just too many people who play the game .. as well as false reports ......

but the BH profession did that .. to an extent ... and the meanwhile keeping our own humble nature because of the % we face in losing against a full template, or the fact to be sucessfullahigher % of the time we needed to group ( which is nothing to brag about) ... at the same time ..the fear of BH's making them look bad kept jedi ego at a reasonbly humble level ....

without names ... this game's "community" as in behavioral patterns will be disrupted and unbalanced.. and in an MMORPG , the psychological experience new players have, is in fact MORE important than the gameplay mechanics .. in keeping them subscribed .....

a better solution to taking names off the terminals would be to limit missioin placed on terminals to 1 .. and keep names ... give each jedi a specific identification number .. and allow a BH to only hunt this jedi ONCE a month ... if he tries to pick the same jedi's mission again within a month the terminal will refuse his request when comparing the cache of jedi id numbers in the BH's kill hash, against the terminal's mission jedi id number ...

keep full template jedi huntable by two BH or three BH ... and if they prove to be too weak agaisnt three .. balance theprofessions accourdingly to make it 50/50% (fair).. but this mechanic ( grouping)was needed to help veteran BH train novice BH .. as well as giving another reason BH guilds should exist ... adding more depth into the community ...

as it stands .. one vs one .. i believe eventually jedi ( as they should be) will be nerfed even more ...to compliment the thousands of players ... whom are ranged in skill and play the BH profession ....

OH THIS SUCKS!!!!

Bh only get paid 52k max for killing PLAYER JEDI. THIS IS BULLS-! As hard as it is to kill these forcerun sprinters. We deserve 250k for killing a fulltemplate.

I'm not going to quit the gave, thats what ththe jerks who did this want. Im going to make it my mission in life to line my walls with the heads of these jedi bastards.

payouts haven't changed. you get the same amount as you would have pre-20. the payout listed on the terms is a randomly generated number intended to hide the level of the mark.

With this publish I am starting to feel embarrased to have a jedi (full template completed a while ago). It seems that the only changes that are being made are to continue to make it easier and easier for everyone to have a jedi, as quickly as possible. Change after change are making it easier for jedi and harder for BHs. In some regards it's not the constant walls being thrown up in your face, like /duel /enduel, /offerride, no droids on Kashyyyk, etc, but the blatent ignoring of major bugs that would have been fixed if they didn't benefit jedi.

The most significant I see atm is the LOS bug on the trails. I have reported several jedi for using it and received thoughtless, formatted responses. It came to a head for me the other night when I reported someone who ran to the LOS and equipped a rifle, duckingout of it to take the odd shot at me and ducking back in. (With the lag my root wasn't having the desired effect). The response I got was that "it was up to me to target and attack him and he was within his rights to try to escape". WTH! If an exploit isn't the intentional use of a known bug to gain a benefit, what is?

I must agree with one of the above posters though, that it is very much the attitude of many players that has seen this type of situation develop. Unlike many other BHs, I have never received viscious hate tells from my bounties. But damn, can some of their friends throw some abuse. And all this for doing nothing more than playing the game as it was designed and having some child unable to accept the rules.

This has led to the content of my bio:

In answer to your questions:

1. Yes I am a Bounty Hunter

2. No I'm not the opposite faction to you, I'm neutral.

3. Yes I might be here for you......but then again I could just be doing some shopping.

*N.B.- I roleplay when hunting so don't take offence at being ignored*

Don't get all upset about me hunting you or your friends. You might win or I might win. Try not to forget that this is just a game and you play to enjoy it. So if you don't want to be hunted, either don't be a jedi or stay off the terms.

And don't bother smack-talking me if you can kick my a#%e. You're not alone. All it proves is that you are a geeky, teenage powergamer who desperately needs to get laid.

And a macro I have written for the guys that I've had enough of:

/tt *Automated Message* Welcome to my Ignore List. A short but distinguished list of the most childish players on this server. You are obviously unable to accept the rules of this game as they currently are and have seen fit to launch unnecessary abuse, proving how truly immature you are. As this game seems to be a little too much for you, may I suggest The Sims. Please do not waste your time replying, as I am sure it will be only more worthless drivel that I will not receive anyway.;

Well put!!

Make sure this reaches the devs.

Get rid of the jedi, so we can enjoy our game again.

or...

Start a in timeline server.

or...

Realize there gotta be some downsides with being a jedi too, as permadeath or heavy penalties if not being discreet.

I too think it's way too late for this game. Even if they find a way to force jedi into hiding, this does not solve the problem on the long run, since soon server population will consist of 3/4 of jedi if they are hiding or not. And that is straightforwardly lame. Eventually all these will quit and a few normals will remain or servers will be shut down. Jedi are the enthropy of the SWG universe. Process of SWG destruction is irreversible. Once you let them in the way SOE did, there is no salvation for the game. (salvation is they die out, either out of boredom or by permadeath, I bet it will be the first option).

/salute to the original poster

This game will prob die by xmas unless a fix is found. The way I see it, SOE will NEVER limit the number of jedi, nor will they institute any form of permadeath. So, the only way to deal with things is find a system of vis and punishment that actually results in jedi trying hard to avoid getting vis. This would then get rid of the starport duelers, and would restrict their impact on the GCW to a point that could be coped with. The end result being a universe others can enjoy too, and jedi having some remaing challenge once they have achieved full temp. If the FRS is brought back and has some sort of meaningful content to keep jedi happily occupied, that would also help clear the rest of the universe for others to enjoy.

My proposal is to have bounty payment directly proportional to vis, so the more vis you get, the higher your payout gets, with high end payouts having a BH grp option.

Also, jedi with negative xp get some sort of de-buff untill they get positive again. This combined with a working FRS should hopefully persuade jedi players that they should avoid gatting vis, whilst giving them something fun to do instead of fighting in Theed, etc. This last point is important, as jedi must have something useful and fun to do once they are full temp, cos otherwise they will get bored and everybody will quit the game, including jedi.

I hope something like this can be done to save the game.

Image, this is the best post I've ever saw. I think it's safe to say that most (if not all) players feel the exact same way you do. I no longer play swg for this reason, but I still like to check on my bounty hunter family to see if, but highly unlikly, they have gotten any better. This may sound corny, but reading this post has made me sad. Thinking about the game, how it use to be...and now seeing what it's been reduce to...all for hte love of money.I doubt SWG will ever go back to what it was use to be, but who knows...maybe a dev might accidently read this post and take it to heart...but as I said before...highly unlikly.
