Thread: jedi forums out of control
hehe I'm not. I did it too under the new system. I feel the same as you, with the possible exception I still like the idea of perma-death

Good points. The holo grind was simpler true, but to me and as Headroll noted for others, it was much tougher than the village (for reasons in my earlier post). The problem stemmed (IMO) from the grind itself. Instead of Jedi being an Alpha class, it became a grinders class and the grinders were unwilling to accept the challenge involved.
minimum to make Jedi. Hologrind on the other hand requires you to simply master proffessions...say a guy mastered 1 proffession every 2 days it really wouldn't take them that long to unlock.
So yeah....it hasn't gotten easier, there aare simply more of us, so we infact needed to be brought into balance.
I am not arguing that at all....
I'm just saying don't belittle my achievements because I was forced to get Jedi under this new system...when I would have prefferred a skill loss, saber TEF, exp loss, BH gank squad, solo grinding enviroment.

I was going Jedi to HAVE all those challenges.
Agreed 100%

I was a BH with the MBH/MC template most of my pre-CU life....I know adversity, and it's fun for me.
above all, all those difficulties make ya feel like a Jedi living under Imperial rule....wouldn't it? That is what I wanted to play more than anything...living dangerously. ATM I'm no Jedi...just some toon with a lightsaber that doesn't even get dirty looks when he walks through a starport when I forgot to take my robes off.....

Same, tho I still have a lot of fun with it, it is somewhat...lacking...
finnally someone who knows what I mean instead of the "then just delete your toon" remarks.

So since you realized it was not going to be a challenge anymore. Why are you still playing one? Why don't you put your actions to words and just delete him?
It's kinda abouthow you look at these games. I play MMORPG's for fun and that doesnt necessarily mean always mean a challenge, for instance PvP.
I've always found it silly games like this, for me PvP challenge is in games like Aces High (online WW2 Flight sim with many folks) or Battlefield 2, which I've been playing a good bit of lately.
I still have fun times with my Jedi, tho that usually translate more along the lines of helping a low CL char. do missions or a quest they may be having trouble doing. As a MBH/MCarb I've done Jedi missions pre-CU which was fun but too much of a pain in the rear
so took him back to BH/Ranger as a hunting char.

Because they had the silly idea of having your main character become jedi instead of a brand new character. If all jedi were the second character, I feel some would just 'put them on the shelf' and not worry about it. But people have spend 1 year+ meeting people/getting to know them, building reputation/RP'ing with that character to just delete them on a whim.
ah but see, it was orginally the alt became the Jedi not the main (in case you didnt know that). But the players didnt like it because it didnt make sense that the char that worked for Jedi didnt get it, so they changed it.

Jedi isn't nerfed because it is easier, they get nerfed because there is more of them than ever before.
Uhh, and the reason there are more of them is because it is easier to get jedi these days. I been playing since launch and many of mybuddies were not about to grind numerous unknown professions to become Jedi. When the village started it became much much easier. Then soon after double xp week, free unlimited respecs for close to a month. Ability to afk ryatt trail grind while you were at work, school or sleeping. Besides the Jedi complaints about pearls, it is much much easier as well to play a jedi these days with perma death being removed, pve xp loss removed, group visibility removed, sabre tef removed, having a whole planet to themselves which is immune to BH droids, etc etc.
You are clueless if you actually believe it's not easier.

Hehe yeah, no other game gives such, after an intense dogfight, a sweating, heart pounding, hands shaky, adrenaline rush.
I aint 'flown' in a couple years now, been looking to get back into it...got sidetracked by Battlefield 2 currently hehe
I started with Air Warrior way back in '93. Met the players that went on to create Warbirds then Aces High (Killer, Pyro, HiTech, etc) at the AW conventions
Air Warrior 1-3 when I worked for AOL (was in the Flying Fishhawks squadron). Then went to Aces High. Nothing is quite like taking off in a fully crewed B17 and dropping on the A's base while your gunners deal with a squadron of JU-88s flying in formation pulling the old Boom and Zoom.
/salute been awhile since I've met a true sim pilot. I wanted something similair in terms of gameplay, grouping, and squadrons in JTL (minus the WW2 flight pyshics of course). But this is what we have to work with. What made those other games so cool was the flight community and the way they respected each other as pilots even though they repeatedly destroyed each other in the skies. Only stopped playing Aces High because my video card wasn't compatible. Now my Radeon is, maybe time for a reinstall.

Wow, very cool. What was your callsign? I was --)Crash---- with the Musketeers Sqdn. We'd moved to WarBirds before AW2 or 3, still a few old-timers in AH. Yeah, was an awesome community for sure ![]()
Agreed on JTL, tho it's still my favorite part of SWG ![]()

Right now there's a lot of mad clicking on the Jedi boards. This is so true. But realize, love us or hate us, Jedi and Bounty Hunter are hopelessly linked by the player bounty system. Here's what is going to happen next...
The jedi will conitinue to freak out over this new nerf. (All Melee players that want to PvP will not like it, but the Jedi will be the most vocal/critised for it).
Some BH'ers will revel in the fact that the Jedi got another nerf and post a bunch of "Cry More Newb's" posts.
Then the inevetable will take place. The BH nerf. It's happened before, and I believe it's coming again. BH'ers used to be the kings of PvP before Jedi existed. Then they got beaten nearly to extinction by the NERF bat. Right up until shortly before CU. Now they just gave us these Ranger/Squad Leader revamps (Poor smugglers overlooked again). They're not gonna nerf SL or Ranger since they just got done making that code.
Due to the screams from the Melee community (and yes, Jedi too) BH will feel the next big smack. Not because the Dev's listen to Jedi (if they did we wouldn't have gotten at least one nerf every patch since 16) but because the Dev's don't know how to fix one thing without breaking another.
Be warned, I take no joy in saying this eiether. I think BH/Jedi need to realize they are linked. Whats good for Jedi NEEDS to be good for BH and vice versa, otherwise we're just going to watch this nerf assualt by the Dev's continue.
I don't blame BH'ers when Jedi gets a nerf. I blame the Dev's incompetance. When I was a BH I didn't blame Jedi, I blamed Dev's as well.
Lets see if you all can say this with me.. C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y. Thats us, the players. Not the BH, not the Jedi but the players. The Dev's are the ones jacking everything up. The cycle will continue
This is too true, the cycle of nerfs. I honestly didn't want the healing nerf, or any nerfs. I don't feel the way of balancing is to kill a skill or profession. But since BH is the number one and becoming uber, it's going to attract the darth nerf bat. Anything that works well gets nerfed, just takes time
