To tell you the truth:

Squad Leaders are screwed in PvP. They are fragile like eggs and their lifetime reduced by the ungodly skillpoint amounts nescessary. And that comes from a PvP squad leader.

With the current combat system you have only 3 choices for a PvP template:

1. MSL/MRM
2. MSL/MFE
3. MSL/TKM

Of those, the TKM is the worst.

The first one has good ranged damage, acceptable defenses, can aim for mind, has snipershot and can act as a long range support, keeping you out of combat and alive.

The second is a defense template. It is intended to keep you alive for a longer time. So that you can use your abilities without having to worry too much about the surroundings.

The third is an attempt to combine the two purposes above. TKM is a good damage dealer, can aim for mind and has good defenses. But the lack of Stun weaponry reduces the damage output to barely perceptable levels.

There may be other functioning SL PvP templates out there, but then i don't know of them. And if i don't know of them, chances are high they doon't exist.

Now for why Commando is insufficient in PvP:

-The speed is too slow
-The damage is too low
-Cannot target the mind pool
-accuracy too low
-Weaponry too expensive
-highly limited use
-Almost no defenses (at least none worth mentioning)

If you go SL/MRM, the first commandment is, Keep thy mind buffs handy.


I always figured SL/MCarbines (I really need to figure out how to spell that word...) would be good, what with all the stat changes and kd/dizzy, but I've never tried it.

One thing to remember under the current system, your role in PvP is really to keep yourself alive so everyone else is enhanced and to act as the traffic director for your group. MRifle is a good choice because you give them bonuses and can camp 64m+away from the action. Regardles of wat you choose, buff teh hell up.

4004 enhancer

0004 defender


I still have 13 skill points left over though, where do you think i should invest in? Force Restoration 1? Or should i just get novice powers?

change that to msl 4004 heal 4402 ench and 0004 def and u got a great template

and it rocks that for sure.

Observe some jedi pvp on your server and see how many jedi use powers in pvp. If yours is similar to mine you'll find master powers to be a rare template. And I personally would find that tree to be a waste of sp when it can be allocated somewhere else.

1. Umm i tryed this out on a character builder and im -1 of skill points

2. Why 4402 in enhancer?are force drain and meditate not incrediblely good skills?

I would take a route of like Master saber

Enh 4004

Heal 4004

Then take away one state defense box and put it in Melee defense, to Defender 2003


Melee Defense I find helps a crapload, I dont have any in my template, but I took a major hit back when I dropped nov def, then you would have +35 more then the average Jedi which combined with certain CA's/BE clothes could make for good defense vs. Jedi and hell anything in the game.

After CU, melee will be taken down a peg......maybe melee def wont be as all-important?

Speculation, of course. I'm going MLS/MEnhancer/healer 4004 because I'm unoriginal (and just happened to like it on Char Builder before I saw that 50% of the ppl here have it)

So are force drain and intimadate not very impostant?
