Probots do ranged attacks. But the graphics is broken. It fires a little black squigly instead of blast bolts. Guess its typical of most of the implementation the Devs did on Droid Engineering.

Will a ptobot be a good meatshield or not?

Atm i have a cowardly gurreck, with 3K+ hitpoints its not that great of a meat shield, but because I dont have any points to invest into CH tree to get GSP or GW, i am stuck withit. So, how is probot compared to CG?

Does is die as often?

Does it regenerate health?

Can I repair it?

How usefult is it in PvP, PvE?

....

..

.

Any info about probots as meat shields would be greatly appreciated.

Let me be the first to say that an advanced probot with %40 resists is an excellent shield. They can often sit there and take a whoopin' while you are incapped the entire time and keep the mark from slaying you. My probot can take far more hits than my cowardly gurreck and makes a great diversion.

They aren't subject to permadeath and seem to repower (not heal) when stored. I bought mine with a data and inventory module for about 13000 credits. I know some DEs sell em with just armor for around 6000.

As long as you get the Probot with Armor module 6. This grants a Medium armor and a wopping 40% resist pretty much down the board.

Though it does crappy damage, it is a wonderful MOB distractor. Send it first and it should obtain and hold Aggro long enough for you to annhilate your opponent.

They also heal up very quickly in your datapad. they also have a very cool death animation.

right now im using 4 light armoured 12% probots and rotating them in combat. they live about 70% of the time i fight a mark but they always take a @sswhoopin from said mark. i tell it to follow target then stay then attack when im ready. this keeps em on the mark and the mark never shoots at me unless they one shot the probe i dont have any problems. someday ill find a DE selling 40% medium armour ones. i like em better than pets. pets are something from UO tamer not SW.

Sometimes I'll get a mark with high resists to everything but electricity. Then I'll send the probot in to get his attention while I close the distance, without firing,to around 18m, at which point I can open up with lightning single 2. It isn't elegant, but it works, and it is very quick.

The bot doesn't take much damage because the whole combat is only a few seconds.

thanks for your fast responces, but I am still unclear about 1 thing:

do probots perma-die? do they sustain some kind of damage (like pets and vitality) when they die, but may be brought back? If they have something like vitality, how does it work, how can i repair it?

Thanks

THey have a vitality/life expectancy similar to CH pets. on death they lose a little more.

I can't wait untill combat droids so I can use those instead of Pokemon err creatures.

Does anyone (fencer) but me have trouble with probots? I dont know if it is lag or something, but when I get close and try to do Cho Sun or Cho Mai, it says target out of range...then he is another 10 meters away, shoots me and this repeats until I'm incapp'd...When I get close to try and hit, it just doesnt do anything. If I run, he follows and the same happens.

Every brawler class gets that. Personally I avoid droid missions like the plague because they are running away while you are trying to attack them. On your pc they may look like they are standing still, but in reality they are still moving away. It could be some sort of sync problem between the server and your pc. Lag contributes to this also, but I have had under a 100 ping and no packet loss and it still happens to me sometimes. I got fed up with it and stopped going on any droid missions.

Hi guys, I just had a quick question. As a Non-DE, I'm a bit upset at what I found my probot's stats to be after this last patch...

I refuse to use a 'animal pet' as it seems completely counter to SW... SO I spent 25k for a nice Probot.. and while it had VERY LOW HAM (less than 1k), the resists made it a nice partner to have (had 40% resists verses all)... I logged on after this last patch to find it had 40% resists to Kinetic, and Stun...

Being the probot attacks as a ranged mob.. I would guess it almost NEVER gets in melee range (heck the MOBs ignore it and attack me melee about 7x as often as attacking the probot) and there are only 2 weapons IN THE GAME that are stun... the Jawa Ion, and tangle pistol... and well NPC's almost NEVER use them...

Worst... instead of merely getting my resists lowered.. my probot is now VUNERABLE to every other kind of attack, meaning it will take MORE damage than a 0 resist MOB would...

SO now 90% of all attacks do EXTRA damage to my probot... and since it has uber low HAM.. it is good for about 3-4 shots of NPC's I hunt... given the speed of their attacks... this doesn't really save me anything...

I guess I want to know if there is some way to counter this new 'patch' effect... or if I should just give up on my little buddy...

That isn't a patch effect. It's a random armor bug that's been around a LONG time... Apparently (I'm a Wookiee non-combatant so I really don't know) it can happen to your own armor as well as to pets and droids. When you first pull out your probot, examine it, and if it's got vulnerabilities, store and call it again.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.
