Thread: Armor?
armor good, naked bad.... enough said
get some advanced ubese with 60%+ kinetic (lowerencumberance than composite)or some advanced composite with 80%+ kinetic. (if you pick up ubese make sure you at least get a composite helmut)
Its pricey but well worth it when you need to tank that hard hitting mob and its almost necassary for PvP.
If you really wanna go all out get yourself some bio enhanced clothing with +intimitate/warcry... ITS A BIG HELP when trying to stick warcry and intimidate... I would'nt pick anything up though unless its AT LEAST +10 intim/warcry most tailors will know what they can put it in and should have a good display for you to look at... try to stay away from vendors and have someone coustom make it for you
get ubese armor and have it sliced for emcumberance. get a full set that you can equip with no buffs. as you get higher in TK you will notice less need for armor and your VK's. when you get yourself in trouble (and you will) it is very helpful to be able to equip your armor without buffs. i usually enter combat without armor or VK's equipped. when i need to put on the armor i also use the VK's for that little extra damage. just remember not to do many specials with the VK's equipped or you will get yourself killed(unless you are buffed that is).
i don't see the problem with composite ? Aslong you are buffed and use food&drink ... i can spam UA3 all day with spice, food&drink + master doc buff with a composite on.
anyway ..
I use a 80% kineticlayered composite for pve, you can take on an army of rancor and kill them w/o a scratch if you play well.
And my others set of composte are a mix of Acid helms (eye shot spammers nuff said) mix of energy ect for PvP purpose.
Of course, ifyou don't have buff don't plan to use any special moves while wearing an armor, u'll kill yourself quicker than the guy shooting at you.
But anyway, best PvE armor is Ubese which is made at 65% kenetic resist lately on most servers. search your world map for vendor and armor and Ubese

When I was grinding rifleman I wanted to get their pretty quick so I got mysel 80% comp armor, and went for red aggro's. I macroed my armor so when I had clothes and new I would be in a tight situation I could get my armor on immediately. Now It can go either way.

Im still a noob in this game, and would like to know if Armor is needed for the rifleman proffesion?
Hmmm.... It seems to me that some of the weapons like T21 takes up allot of ham costs, and it hurts more with armor on, while using specials?
Then is it better to use no armor, or a low ham cost armor like ubuse or bone armor, or is it really compsite all the way(everybody uses compsite on my server.. its crazy)???

When I leveled, I used no armor. But I also leveled before armor was in the state is currently is. At that time, buffs (food or doctor's) were not what they are now either. Thus, at the time, it just was not worth it. The HAM costs due to the encumbrances just made it untenable.
But much has changed. Now, if I do anything significant, I never go unless I am buffed to the gills and I almost always wear armor for combat. I do not even consider going into PvP withoutbuffs and armor. But that does not mean you have togo out and buy 80% everything, buff-on (I.e., can only get it on if you are buffed) Godmode Composite armor.
I have a Composite chest plate and helm. The helm is krayt enhanced, and both are built and sliced for encumbrances. I also have a full set of ubese armor. When I PvE as a Swordsman, I will sometimes were the full Ubese set, but normally I will wear the composite helm and chest plate and the ubese boots, pants and gloves. I can wear either configuation unbuffed. Also, unless I am concerned about taking mind damage, I will often go without the helmet, putting on only if I start getting hit in the head.
This works for me because, as a Rifleman (especially in PvP) I am usually at near max range and have good ranged defenses and Ranged damage mitigation 3 as a Master Rifleman. Thus, the lower HAM costs are more important to me than massive damage reductions because the buffs can usually absorb enough of the damage to keep me alive. Are there situations I may have survived with higher damage resistance armor? Sure. But there are also a lot of situations where I would have been out of HAM when I most needed it if I was wearing the higher encumbrance/higher protection armor. So it is a trade off. When I fight with my Swordsman weapons, the melee defenses, Melee damage mitigation 3, and CenterofBeing (which boosts Counterattack) seem to shrug off enough damage to make it, again, more important to focus on encumbrances than resistances.
As mentioned earlier, many riflemen go with no armor at all. I have just found I survive longer, epecially in PvP, with this configuration.
