Thread: rebel and imperial jedi contraversy

Some excellent posts on this issue. So why not a few more. lol

1. BH's killing same faction can be a detriment to the GCW. As a guildleader, it would be difficult for me to see a member of another Imperial guild kill my guildmate's jedi, then side with us on a mission. How do I know if he's on my side or just waiting for time to strike? I don't, and that BH saying "well I won't kill him this time" just doesn't cut it.So for simplicity sake, it's far easier to only ally with guilds that don't hunt Imperial Jedi. Less confusion and less to worry about.

2. Roleplaying. Excellent points here too. However, as an Imperial guild I often roleplay that there are no "Jedi" in my guild. No one belongs to the Jedi Order, period. Now, some of my guildmates have "exceptional powers of accuarcy, healing, etc" that make them super talented. So saying that, any Imperials who kill a guildmember are simply killing a gifted soldier. So if you come to me and say "why can't I be part of your groups missions to kill rebels, I'm Imperial" and your guild has a roleplaying goal of killing all Jedi, you run into MY roleplaying goal of Imperial Brotherhood. They cancel each other out.

The problem with roleplay is it's greatest benefit. Almost anything can go, and game "labels" can be ignored. I can be Grand Moff with super powers of persuasion, or tatooine slave, even if my label is MBH. So just as ONE side can justify using roleplay to "eliminate all Jedi", I can say "we have no jedi, you're just killing my people". Remember, if you live by a roleplay credo, then it can work against you as well.

In terms of game mechanics, BH's have EVERY RIGHT to kill any jedi they want. If they kill one of my men, well, I don't like it but I don't flame or insult them. But if you run into a guild that chooses the GCW over your right to BH, then that's THEIR right as well. So if you kill my men but then wonder why we won't do Imperial missions with you, that's your issue. No complaining from either side.

Food for thought. (BTW, I'm a BH that only hunts Rebs/Neutrals by choice. /shrug)

I don't feel that there should be any "Imperial" jedi, but let's put that aside for a minute...

It would all depend on the guild you're currently in. If the guild is an active part of the GCW, then same faction BHing wouldn't do your guild or yourself any good. If you're in a neutral or multi-factioned guild that does NOT play a big role in the GCW, then it's the choice of the individual BHer.

From a Roleplaying perspective:

Imperial Bounty Hunters: There are no Imperial Jedi, all Jedi are fair game. Please your Emperor by eliminating his enemiessecretly amidst the Imperial army.

Rebel Bounty Hunters: If an active Rebel, shouldn't hunt rebel Jedi, they're a valuable part of your side of the war.It would all depend on your level of loyalty to the Rebellion.

Speaking for my guild, the Bounty Hunters Alliance (BHA) consists of freelance, independant Bounty Hunters that make their own decisions on who they go after. BHA is not a military oriented guild, therefore, who tohunt is completely up to the individual Bounty Hunter.

What is this, the 50 bazillionth time we've had a thread on this? Nobody ever agrees. It always comes back to "play it however you like, as long as it's fun"

Yeah, but I've been playing SWG for well over a year, so if I really wanted to go into an overpowered class I could have done by now. The actual fact is that I'm avoiding it like the plauge, I'm not even force sensitive and proud of it!

Ahemmm, what about our unique PvP content? Get rid of Jedi and we are just marksmen with a few extra SP boxes and no decent content (like most non-Jedi profs).

So far, from what I've seen in large-scale PvP activities, the only unique Jedi-PvP content seems to be overpowering (dare I say "owning) all other non-Jedi players. So that is certainly something I wouldn't miss if you all were removed from the game.

From a role playing view, I am an officer in the ranks of the Imperial Army. I have been assigned to the special task of investigating and eliminating possible jedi and the threat they pose. My superiors have informed me that their would be those who claim to support the Emperor. These are dangerous to the public trust and will be eliminated with extreme predjudice. All jedi arean enemy of the Empire, regardless of their political ties.I will honor my Emperor and fulfill my task to the best of my abilities.

YOU ALL DIE THE SAME...

Come to your death

I do not run, I cut you into pieces and mail you to your loved ones. Sure, I am a Light Jedi, but you came for me and for that, you deserve to die. First, I will KD you...Then I will hit you with states and dervish you...Oh, you brought friends?

You are not a true friend to them because you brought them to die too. All five of you ponder me, wondering how it is that each of you is KD'd in order while I focus on one and take the life from you. There is nothing you can do, you are about to die. Not even your root shot can save you. There is nothing you can do but stop and beg for mercy. I might consider it, but it depends on my mood.Your last breath will be filled with the smell of the blood of your friends mixed with that of whatever animal's blood I was hunting. You hunt me for a bounty, I kill you to survive. Ask yourself, is your motivation greater than mine? Also, /ponder perhaps I have a complete knowledge of my skills and mine. Perhaps I train agains 3-5 MBH/Rifles, MBH/Carbs, MBH/Doc, MBH/MCM, MBH/Pistols....Heck once even a MBH/Mdancer...Only died once on day two of padawan.

This is not me bragging, but rather a friendly warning...I am not here to make your family cry, but I must do what is necessary to live...

Here's my take on this:

Get over it.

I get enough greif on this issue. The Empire hates Jedi. You are a Jedi. For some weird and unknown reason, you are on the side that hates you. I hate you. I'm going to kill you.

Also:

I'm not going to spend the time to find an online mission, get the bio, track to planet, track on planet, then find you and see that you're Imperial just to go, "Oh, well never mind, let me just go back and try again!"

Not worth the time.

Yes, I hunt Jedi of my own faction. Why? Because Jedi are an enemy of the empire. That, and there's too many of them. Now leave me alone. My hunting doesn't apply to your standards.
