I don't know if the penalty is too big, too small, etc. But I do know a bit about game design and just want to bring this up to help fuel constructive feedback.

Keep in mind the XP penalty has4 purposes.

1. Make Jedi difficult to obtain

2. Act as a penalty to Jedi to prevent a Jedi/BH team from exploiting the terms for cash.

3.Keep Jedi in hiding for continuity purposes

4. Keep Jedi from playing a central role in the GCW (because of the fear of PVP death).

This is a big job and therefore the XP loss is pretty hefty. Based on the number of sabers you see every day, you could in fact make the argument that the penalties need raised to help out #3.

Karmel, you're exactly right!!

It SHOULD be the most difficult, frustrating, profession in the game while the MOST REWARDING (I think both of those are fulfilled, eh?).

The die-hards (most of them are) are NOT going to give up Jedi no matter how many times bh kill them. They will be a Jedi until the end.

Give me 300k ham and the powers of a Dark Jedi Master NPC and I'll be happy with that system. Till then, shaddup.

I couldn't find an answer in any of the guides, so I decided to start a thread...

Does the Jedi XP death penalty begin at Jedi Initiate or Jedi Padawan? Thanks!

Okay Guys,

Just been killed by a BH : lost around 500k xp (i have no doc friends and the timers for rez are too small tho but that's not the point)

I went on a xp session, another BH came and killed him.. ok all right

then an opposite faction BH come, i engage the fight and then how surprised I see a dark jedi knight and some other fellas ! Ok no time to speak i run but they do know how to play their characters and I'm lame on escaping so i die.

More or less 1 milion negative XP is now where I am.

So, what

Okay Guys,

Just been killed by a BH : lost around 500k xp (i have no doc friends and the timers for rez are too small tho but that's not the point)

I went on a xp session, another BH came and killed him.. ok all right

More or less 1 milion negative XP is now where I am.

So, what I think that could be better is :

PLAN 1 :

- Only a Master BH can hunt a Jedi (will prevent from ubber melee templates)

- They can be only from oposite faction and max 2 of em can attack you (will prevent from 'no chance to survive' hunting)

- The BH MUST loose something from being killed by a Jedi it could be weither money (why not, and go negative too ) or his Master Title (but keep the 4444) (so he'll need to grind a small amount of XP back to get it and the APP points too), or if u wanna go evil maybe put him back on Half 4 and full 444 (so half invest to grind back where u take in the fact that only a master can hunt a Jedi), and why not some /check grades.

I do know that then, the hunting rate will decrease but for sure there are a lot more Bounty Hunters than Jedi padawans ...

PLAN 2 :

- keep the same system with the same huge amount of xp loss but when ur killed by a BH then the other missions u had on u vanishes from other's BH datapad (so the first to kill is the first to win the bounty, sounds obvious) and only allow to be shown on the terms when the soft detects u have the same xp that when u died (this idea was writen by some clever guys up in the posts and found it really nice) so u wont want to destroy ur account forever, and u wont progress that fast too.

<outofsubjectforfewlignes>

And I would like to tell something to the people who are readingthat are not Jedi but have a totaly made opinion on it ...

First of all you guys should know that beinga Jedi doesnt equals on roxxing everything. It's for pure fun ! You can have melee prof that will own Jedi with good stuff and over all good player behind the screen !

So what's the point that pisses u off ??? The fact that seeing loads of Jedi doenst concords with SW atmosphere ? Ok , right, but ur not forced to play SWG to 'remake' the movies... the 'future' is made by the players. If there are loads of Jedi, that's cause the Jedi movement could have been revived etc.. use ur imagination on building context instead of using it to flame and express ur potential jealousy ! :-)

Andtwo last things : jedi who are doin the 'boysband group' at coronet etc... is just for their fun u have to be tolerant, first and second this wont last forever it's kind of boring too for them... and also once u get a Jedi u can have fun for several monthes but an account is always cancelable and Real Life always evolve so, dont be scared with 'omg swg is goin to be full of jedis omg...' if the devs are clever enough they could make some other add ons, why not enlarging the galaxy so with more space ull see less jedi I dont know, it's to be thought !

</outofsubjectforfewlignes>

Thank you for reading and sorry for the fact that the last part of the message doesnt concord with the pure goal of the thread !

warm regards.

Third time is a charm huh.

Hell of a thing, killin' a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
Yeah, well, I guess he had it comin'.
We all got it comin', kid.

A thought a 'fun' way to punish Jedi is make them go 'blue glowy' (invisible to all but other Jedi) on death for a certain period of time. Even until next server reset. Basically they could still send tells, but could not travel off the planet nor enter structures. It would DEFINITELY encourage jedi to play much safer, and justify/balance some of their power.

Would sure help keep them out of the CGW, or avoid exploiting FRS from them, and avoid BH exploiting them for XP/Creds.

Except for making a Jedi life so unfun they quit the game - which I don't feel is exactly productive fora gaming community, it's hard to balance the system any other way.

'Bad' jedi get killed, and are 'forced' to play their main toon. It also prevents Knights exploiting XP off each other, or Jedi Master Defenders 'zerging' turrets and just destroying PvP base complexes that take a huge amount of work. Once dead- it's a big accomplishment. Kill an attacking forces jedi, and you know you are 'safe' til the next day.

I certainly see a lot of 'pluses' to such a system.

ive no problem with the xp loss at all.. Double whatever your payout is.. works out at 2k xp per Skillpoint in Jedi skills.

this i can cope with.. sure it sucks, but them im a jedi and i KNEW this would happen.

what i dont like is the Corpse campers.. isnt the DB xp enough..? you want me to clone and lose another 200k :/

please your DB is done YOUVE been Paid, your Mission is over... Move along =]

Jedi XP Loss:

Jedi complain about it - you know you'd complain about it (I would).

Now I ask that you don't be biased (time to apply those Critical Thinking skills) and take a serious look at the situation. Many posts from Jedi complaining about XP loss, and who can blame them? Sure Jedi is supposed to be hard, some might think grinding XP in the first place is too hard - maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

People want to play to have fun, not to grind all day, so although I don't have any suggestions to replace the XP loss system, I think we SHOULD get a new system in place (devs need to implement it).

Now I simply ask you topost a quick explaination of a system you come up with to replace the current XP loss system that we all know causes grief for manyBH and Jedi.

At this point i think xp loss should be eliminated completly. I think when they get jedi to be able to take on a basic fencer or swordsman, ortk for that matterw/o risk of losing miserably then we can talk about xp loss.

Before CU, my template was Master lightsaber, Healer 4004, Enhancer 4002,

Defender 4300. And +1500k jedi xp

After respec Master lightsaber, Healer 4004, Defender 4434. Trained Force defender up to III.

Today i logged and noticed all my skills was sameas before CU. And +600K jedi xp.

So i lost 900k jedi xp. Can someone answer why?

Can anyone please point me to a link that explains how much xp is lost upon death from a bh? I assume it is correlated to your learned jedi skill boxes, enhanced by the inspiration buff and recloning. Last night, I lost in a battle with a BH (mbh/cm...very tuff), and lost 350K of xp. Im not complaining, but rather would like to know how much xp I can estimate losing based on the levels I have earned. Right now, Im CL 57: 4000heal 0002enh 0303LS novPower 0222DEF. thanks!
