Thread: Duelist stance does not seem to be working properly

well, I guess it's not that counter intuitive... I mean we already have defenses that focuses on what weapon you are holding, for example Carbine Defense. You can look at ranged defense as defense when you are holding a general ranged weapons. And the general and specific defenses stack in the exact same way carbine accuracy stacks with general ranged accuracy.
Understood, but if this is how they intended it,why list out both Ranged Defense and Melee Defense values?
Considering if your are holding a Carbine you would only have a "Defense" value (General Ranged + Carbine Defense). What possible value would (General Melee + Carbine Defense) have? If this is intended (as suggested above) then you should only have one Defense rating because there is only one that counts.
On top of that, even if you "wanted" to know the melee answer you couldn't because it would need to be based on a Melee Weapon in order to calculate it.

Seems to be another bug if you ask me or at least another example of the system being "sold" as one thing and implimented as another. Of course the problem is we never really know which it is.

Actually this USED to work correctly after the CU.... I did testing with Vegasparine and it did help mitigate the damage a jedi did to me while i had a pistol equipped.
Melee Defense is supposed to protect you from Melee attacks...... same thing with Ranged def.
If that's NOT what the devs intended, then why did they put melee def in ranged templates? and ranged Def in melee templates? And for god sakes.... why would they put ranged def in Jedi Defender?

I know, that is why I was surprised when someone said it was different now. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. The problem is no one knows if this a bug now or was a bug before.
Similar to how Startle and Disarming Shot break on Damage when they are not suppose to according to the description. Is breaking on damage a bug or is the description bugged?
Typical.
but to confirm yes, you eat the type of food of the weapon you are holding, and that adds the def to both ranged and melee.
I seem to notice that Duelsit Stance removes about 20-30 points of damage per saber hit...not alot you say?
I fought a Jedi last night for 47 minutes. Assuming an avergae of 10 hits a minute (perfectly reasonable as I kite little...probably was more) . That is 470 hits mitigated. That is 12,000 points of damageI did not take during the battle when I had my macro up the whole time.

Defenses are currently bugged (we assume). Ranged defense is the defense you get against ranged and melee attacks while you are holding a ranged weapon. Melee defense is the defense you get against ranged and melee attacks while holding a melee weapon. What this means is that you only need to look at your ranged defensive mods as a Bounty Hunter. Yes, it is peculiar that we'd get melee def mods as a ranged class.
Wow, is this true?
This is completely different the what was expressed during testing. Are you sure this is right?
this is WRONG and has been PROVEN wrong if u choose to still foolishly belive that then so be it its your funeral

Please be more specific.
WHO is wrong about WHAT?
He was getting hit by 1k +Return Fire+ almost every shot when he was attacking, while his (player) +Return Fire+ was only doing 25 damage..that's right..25 damage. From what we've heard it is supposed to be, it's supposed to be 25%, not a flat 25.
Like I said, not sure if this really applies to the argument, but I would think that if the Devs can make Duelist Stance work that well for NPC's, shouldn't we get the same thing?
This is so sad.
The coding in this game, the very combat engine itself, is SO JACKED UP.
The only reason I've kept playing is because I'm a Star Wars fan. My patience, after several years, is getting really thin.
What can we expect when they did an emergency "Combat Upgrade"? Trying to completely reinvent the wheel ona rush job, in a massive project like an MMO - not pretty.
I wish they could just start a new engine from scratch, call it SWG II, port over old characters, and make it compatible with XBox 360 Live.
Geez....
