Thread: Bounty Hunter PVP Petition
I for one find it hard to believe that BH will not have the opportunity to hunt actual players in a fair manner.
This can be done. I am no guru concerning how it can be accomplished but 'WITs' idea is a definite move in the right direction.
Grief.. I understand that all to well playing many MMORPGS...namely UO. No one wants to have a game full of grief. This can be avoided witha heavily tested system. No excuses here. To not even try to accomplish a PvP BHing system is a grief in itself to the player community.
I will continue to build my BH with high hopes PvP bhing will come to pass...In the mean time I will be here doing my best to further this cause till it comes to a conclusion.

The only POINT to being a Bounty Hunter is to hunt PC Bounties, Its absolutely rediculous to not have this. There is no point in being a bounty hunter if you can't hunt down pc bounties...lets face it, what thrill is there in hunting down an npc, as opposed to hunting down a pc?
I'm very disappointed to find out that PvP bounties are not in game, especially disappointed since I read numerous article on IGN and even in PC Gaming World about how the PvP bounties would work. It has been something promised to the players numerous times, and now scrapped for "griefing"? Gimme a break.
The thing I don't understand is why was it scrapped for grieifing? Doesn't overt Rebel vs. Imperial have the same possibility of griefing? Sure, the players knows the risk of joining a faction...so why not warn players about bounties? Its only fair, and its perfectly acceptable. If the player doesn't want to take the chance of having a bounty -- choose a different mission. I always liked the whole "pay your way out" deal mentioned in the thread.
I feel that by removing PvP bounties, SWG has taken a step back in realism, and authenticity which the developers have been striving for. SWG is a very social and interactive game. Every player/profession has a purpose and most have large social aspects (Medics, Entertainers, Squad Leaders, etc). But where does the Bounty Hunter fit in? They really don't. The only social aspect of the profession is gaining apprentice points to ultimately become a Master. Its going to get extremely repetitive running NPC bounty missions over and over again. I'm sure everyone feels the same way. It seems its a rather "unrewarding" profession to skill up to, considering how difficult and long it takes to do so.
I hope the developers are reading these posts, and taking the community's feelings/requests into consideration. By adding PvP bounty hunting, the game will gain more realism, suspense, and surprises. I mean, come on...it would be so exciting to hunt down players because they'll be unpredictable and full of surprises, unlike an NPC.

The whole reason I bought this game was to play a BH and hunt PLAYERS. I don't want just another version of the mission generators.
Although, I don't know how effective this petition will be, with people signing it with names like superKilla or Perrin Aybara. The whole point of a petition is to sign YOUR NAME to it, not your chat handle or a fictional characters name.
And snide comments in the "months playing" slot won't get the devs taking it serious either

PC bounties adds realistic appeal to all players even players who dont like PVP. Player A. takes high level mission that has the lure of great rewards...Money...perhaps a Fame tag...a map to treasure...lots of different rewards can be thought up....
How about this ...Player A. goes to a mission terminal and spies a very intriging mission...very different from the same ol seek and destroy...A race mission if you will.
Jabba The Hut has lost a freighter over the dune sea full of Item XXXX...find the freighter and return lost Item XXXX to Jabba for Reward XXXXX....or keep the goods and sell them to a competitor for a greater prophit.
The example above gives the player a moral choice. Return what is not yours or steal it and go for a greater prophit. Of course stealing that Hutts goods could be a grave decision indeed.
Heres how it could play out: Player A steals Jabbas "hard earned goods" to go for the big payout. Now the timer begins. A BH mission is posted for player A. The BH must find Player A before Player A sells the goods.
Now most of you are saying .ok easy that player just needs to haul his ass to the buyer...Nope Player A must sit on those goods untill a BH takes the mission to find him or her. Player A must meet several contacts over a designated period of time after a BH takes a mission...lets say a week ...3 contacts a day ..(this can all be modified of course)
This not only gives the BH a shot at catching his prey but it also gives Player A a true adventure to achieve the payout.
Ok you all can shoot hole after hole into this Im very sure of that. Dont bother, this is just an example of the kind of creativity that could be put into PC bounties that could benefit both Player A and BHs.

The more experienced you are as a bounty hunter, the more difficult (and lucrative!) the targets offered to you will be. Targets may include computer-controlled NPCs or players who have incurred bounties because of breach of contract
I would also like to add my voicein support of a PvP bounty system. I would love to even see a way to have Players post bounties against other players! Perhaps as part of an opposing faction, one can take out a higher up member of the faction in oposition? Maybe as long as the Bounty is up, the person posting it gets a temp flag? This could even be a way of making those pesky high up coverts more vunerable?
Well, however it gets resolved, I would like to see a way for characters to both become vunerable to bounties as well as be able to requsition bounties!
There just has to be a way that PC Bounties can be implemented in-game!

Well first things first I think we all need to try to agree on something and support it. Give the devs something to work with. I for one think that Wit's idead is PERFECT. Gives everyone a choice re: bounties and becoming a target. I am so set on being a BH that Its really all i want to do, and if Player Bounties are not part of that I will probably just stop playing...

Create a system for pvp bounties - That's the whole point to the Bounty Hunter profession.
