The only time kiting works against a Jedi is if they are running away from you.

Yes but don't let it deter you from wearing if you really need the extra range. Look at the decay on your armor after every battle, pvp or pve. Vast majority of decay are to your chest, leg and head slots. Meaning these are the target areas you are getting hit most at. You will have to get an unlucky damageroll for the jedi to hit you in the same spot twice, particularly an arm slot.

Wow, I've never had that happen... please explain.
Is it the lack of armor on the arms?

Kiting is an exploit, according to quite a few Jedi I've had the pleasure of icing. Terrain usage as well.

If your caught close range without Master CM, your dead anyways![]()
I have Ranged arms on two seperate Characters and can not remember the last time I was hit in the Armor hole....... Also range should be your defence, that is the tactic of kiting.

Yep! And those are exploits, too:
- Using tactics
- Healing
- Dealing any kind of damage to a Jedi
- using tactics
- and a /bow after the fight
All this can be used by a Jedi though.
*note* j/k btw ![]()

Stop spreading hate. You are only making it worse.

Since I have played this game I have almost always been melee professions. Even as a pre cu bh I had a tk template. Im now ranged (pistols) and mcm but I am discovering that I have NO CLUE how to kite effectively. I figured I had it done enough to me over the years I might be able to do it but taking full temp marks are proving more of a challenge than they used to be. I am just so used to standing toe to toe with them and that is not working with a pistol in my hand.
I'm reasonably well equipped but I am not outlasting the jedi I come up against. (at least not the ones with pre cu sabers)
anyone have any suggestions?
Well, the best kiting template is MBH / MPist / Carb 0440 (imo). And add in a couple ranged arms..... But you are vulnerable. However you'll find that 70% of hits are leg hits and head hits.... 90% of hits are leg, body, head..... so, it's not that big of a deal.
Just make sure you are alternating your KD and root/snare. Be aware there is a 30 sec timer on the target before s/he can be re-KDd, so I suggest making a kd macro to tell you when your 30 sec are up.
Happy hunting!

Kiting is harder for pistols but if you can heal well then you can stand the dmg output... Heres a little secret for ya guys (actually ive seen this written before but it seems no one pays attention for some odd reason) get a medical droid that has 110 medical capability, get +25 healing eff clothes, and get bacta enhancers with all of this your bacta toss heals for 2000).. Pre-cu sabers only do 1400 max on some occasions so you will be able to outdo the dmg.. Also make sure you group with the droid so it doesnt get hit for as much and with the droid attacking its like 100dmg a tick so it gets annoying for the jedi.. Another thing you might want to add some ca's and aa's to your suit for accuracy because it seems that root has a lower accuracy rating than other shots and never works

You cannot kite with Pistols because to inflict any damage you need to stay within 35m and any Jedi with either MLS or Powers xxx2 can knock you down at 32m. You need rifles or carbines to kite, and then it all is about having enough roots and snares to negate at least the basic Force Run.
Most Jedi who dont have MLS or Powers xxx2 either have Force Cloak and will just disappear when you try to kite, or at least Improved Force Run so they can counter your snares.

Get the ranged arms, which will add +15 meters to your range.
That way you can kite out to 50 meters and still inflict damage. Be sure to use your root + kd to keep them in place also.
