Listen, the issue is not that MBH loot is so good, it's that the rest of the game's loot is so BAD. SW:G has the WORST loot drops/ and loot in general out of any MMORPG I've ever played.


To the point that a decayable weapon with good loot components runs for upwards of 5-10 million. Which is just insane.


Instead of pushing for nerfs on bh loot everyone should be pushing for fixing the loot tables. It seems a shame that we can all get together on XP issues like we just had but we can't get this game's loot problems fixed. If we all put pressure on the developers the loot tables would be fixed by now.

His xoncern is that a person with just Novice Bounty Hunter can get the same exact loot faster, and more effeciently than he can. We as Master Bounty Hunters have to travel across the galaxy to find our marks while a Novice Bounty Hunter has his mark on the same planet.

Loot should be based on the difficulty of the mark. By that I mean, the higher your skill as a Bounty Hunter the higher the chances are that you'll get decent loot. Obviously the lower your skill, the lower your chances are of getting good loot.

Well, I mastered it a year before you did (November 2003)and I happen to agree with him.


All perks for being a profession should be at the Master Level. This has always been the position most Bounty Hunters have taken and it is consistent with what other professions have stated about thier desired content as well.


When adding profession content, itis critical that it be at the Master Level. Not only as an added incentive to Master over Dabble, but as areward. Professions are suppose to be defined by thier "role" and that "role" should be best defined at the master level.


What he is asking is not to NERF the profession but to actually help keep it pure. Being able to get Novice NPC missions and aquire the same loot off easier marks actualy hurts the profession. Having Access to Jedi missions is not much of an incentive considering the best template to dispose of them is a Combat Medic with the Bounty Hunter skills being a minor contribution.


But Bounty Hunter (As a profession)is not defined by the Jedi missions, it is defined by the NPC missions and as a result the Master Level should have the most significant reward. Right now, all the loots are random and an Elite Boss (38k Health) drops the same stuff that a 7k Mark drops and sometimes that Elite boss drops nothing but a melon. So his point is where is the bonus for being a Master when your missions are harder, take longer to kill, and take longer to track, and don't give anything better for it?


Seems like a reasonable request if you ask me. He is not asking for the drop rate at the master level to be changed, but perhaps the quality of the drops should be scaled based on theSkill level of the Investigation Tree with the final aspect being the Master Box.



  • Investigate Box2 - Simple Smuggler Kits

  • Investigate Box3 - Mid Grade Smuggling items

  • Investigate Box4 - High End Smuggler Gear

  • Master Level - SEAs


Before you run off and insult the guy by calling him a "nOOb", perhaps you should listen to his point and not respond like a nOOb.



Now, with all that said, it is a minor issue. I am VERY happy with our revised NPC missions and even though I have "tougher" marks and have to go through more time and work to get the same loot as a Novice, it is still much better then it was and MUCH better content then any other profession in the game.


So, while I agree with the original poster, I think SoE has MUCH bigger problems to address then this issue and I can live with how it is now until they do.

for the record i have been mbh for a while, though i liked it a lot more precu. i barely actually play the game now but i dont see how this change will balance MY profession with MY profession. taking away a novice bh ability to get something useful from a mark helps me how?


in the end i think the most important thing is that this game stays fun. such a change (aka all unnecessary changes)will make the profession less appealing to the new players, which ultimately are the ones that will keep this game alive.

about the big loot not agree with that.iam mbh doing 15 miss yestaday and get only junks, the best one is bio engineer poster.


so i think is a bit of chance to loot +13 ca or aa et...


just some ppl are lucky then others

      First of all, Duelist Stance gives melee Defense, and all the cl 82's I've come across have been ranged so it benefits nothing, secondly, the time that it takes a dabbler/novice bh to take bounty missions and farm loot is fractionally what it takes a MBH to run a mission hoping for loot. No boss has looted anything other than smuggler parts for me in the last 5 days. Why should dabblers and novices be able to pull missions and get the same chance of looting high end loot at a faster rate than the master profession? The loot tables should be based on the amount of investigation so that the profession actually means something, not for every loot hungry dabbler to come along and farm out loots so they get nerfed to hell and back. Its the attitude of loot farmers and their greed that gets the loot nerfed not those who advocate for the high end loots to be gathered by those who've actually mastered professions. I advocate that all high end loots should be fixed not just bounty hunter loots, but since this is the BH forum, this is my main concern here.







      Couple points here.



      1. If you are not a Master Bounty Hunter (IMO) you should not be pulling the Elite (Gold)Boss's in your missions that should be reserved for the Master Bounty Hunter as it was described to us by SoE


        • Non-Master should randomly (10%) get a Silver Boss (18K HAM) and with that get the Elite Smuggler Loot

        • Master Bounty Hunter's should pull mostly Silver Boss's (at the rate we do now) with the random (10%)Elite Boss (Gold Chevron)


          • The Elite Loot SEA's should only come from the GoldenBoss's

      2. Duelist Stance adds Ranged Defense, not melee

      According to how it was posted when this went live, Boss mobs where only suppose to be available to the Master Box BH.


      The fact that they are available to any BH is a bug it seems ( which would be confirmed by the post for Publish 23...though its full of errors and stuff from previous patches that I hope Tiggs cleans up today. )

      Was going to point this out but you beat me to it hehe. I still think the high end loot needs to be reserved to boss marks. I have gotten power cells and Jedi CA off elite Im pretty sure. As I have also gotten a jar of bugs off bosses lol. I think its funny that the people that are flaming the original poster are probrably the ones that dont have MBH. There is nothing wrong with what the OP is asking. And he isnt asking for loot to be nerfed across the board as I heard a poster exagerate. Just that the title Master mean something, and that lazy bums cant pay an NPC trainer some credits and then farm good loot! Simple as that! Period!

      you both should learn to read....it doesnt say it was for only masters...just says the chance for masters to get boss mobs is increased....READING IS FUNDAMENTAL!


      SECONDLY, this is whats so wrong with the game...people crying for nerfs in there own profession.....sad

      Yes it seriously needs to be adressed...


      I'm a cl 62, novice BH, and i get great loot.... i'm not going to train investigate 1 and 2 for some days yet, when i can just stay on the same planet and kill my marks, and get great loot.... and see if the mark is located in a body of water, so i can drop the mission immediately...


      and that is kind of wrong... (well the loot part is) as i can run at least 4-5 missions an hour....

      Greed coming straight from the OP, plain and simple. As one poster outlined, as a NBH he/she is losing ALOT of the ranged/melee bonuses, as well as alot of the wonderous specials granted in the BH tree.

      You get something good given to your profession and you want to spite the people who are lower level than yourself because they are getting something nice from it, really giving some enjoyment to levelling the Investgation branch (which for the record I have done manually 3 times)....Really disgusting.


      The loot rates and drops IMO don't need to be addressed, just the probability of MBH getting gold chevron marks being increased (which I believe was addressed in the last patch).


      I have a MBH toon, I have a NBH toon....I personally find (and this comes from various friends whom are NBH and MBH also) I get better loot from the MBH anyway (and thats from doing 100's of these missions on both). The tapes that drop tend to be alot better on the MBH, superceeding the +5/+6 I get when I am extremely lucky on my NBH by far.
