Thread: To those pondering a switch from Pistol 0404 to CM 4000. I have 2 words of advice: do it!
Aunu, I gotta support you on your choice. My personal template is Master BH/Pistoleer/4xxx CM, and I had switched to it after having master Carb, just cause I liked pistols. But, you are smart in your 4xxx CM choice, because the extra in between heal of Bacta Shot when timed with proper stim usage makes a world of difference. Having any master BH/ ranged prof/ 4xxx CM template gives you plenty options, and for those who wanna use Offensive meds on a target, you can still use Neurotoxin, so just by a BE's Neurotoxin enhancer for a better effect. A 4xxx CM has this ability. Best part I like about it is it also makes your BH toon more viable in PvE group combat because of the Toss and Spray, so your groupmates will appreciate it.
Another template people might like, though less in defenses compared to those mentioned above, is Master BH/CM/x4xx Carbineer...nice template to, but takes thourough knowledge and more tactics.
I really like my master carb/ master bh/ pistols 0404/ combat prowess 4000 template.. But I do have trouble keeping out with close range jedi damage output.
Combat medic seems like the solution to this, however, I'm scared to lose the root, and all that ranged accuracy that x4xx pistols give.
I'm just using stims and bliel right now, but I'm seriously considering the switch to cm 4000 or 0400. Gah

From what I've interpreted from the CM forums, at the moment those effects don't stick very well unless you're master (something like 75% even then) this is sorta backed up by the fact that at xxx2 I stick poison onces every 10-20 tries.
I did this, the chance of the stuff to stick is so awful. Like 1 out of every 4 tops. So I am trying master now.
So i AM a MBH MCM and pistol 0004, and I just cant seem to get enough damage dealt. I am gonna try MBH Mcarbs and CM 4000 and see if that helps, if not, MBH MCommando and some pistols. At the very least I can area Root HAHAHAHAHAHA.
**EDIT** Ok so reviewing stuff I know why my damage sucks. NO ACCURACY FOR THE WEAPONS. SInce all the points go into CM, my General ranged accuracy from BH just arent cutting it damage wise. I think if I go to CM 4000 then MBH MCarbs I can deal more damage. Gonna get on and start grinding carbs right now.

We're both MBH/MP. He had CM 0400 and I had CM4000.
Our healing was roughly comparable, especially when he took Snowcake, although I did heal for more overall. What the problem was though, and what prompted the discussion, was an evenings worth of fights against MLS 225k marks. Unlike before, they actually do damage now. So much so that with Armor Break they're hitting for huge damage numbers. The one who managed to kill me would root, Force Supression, Armor Break, and then deal about 1k+ damage every two seconds. Because of the Armor Break I was getting hit for something like 800+ damage each time, and the heals just couldn't keep up, nor could my mind eventually.
It didn't seem feasible to be able to continually outheal damage numbers like that, so we considered alternate approaches.
I went back to a template I had tried and liked during the initial respec period after the CU, which was CM 0004/Medic 0410. I'll explain.
My overall healing power is lower (although the bio-shirt and snowcake makes up for that mostly), but I have three more useful (in my opinion) skills to wield instead.
1) Paralyze (followed by a Disarm Shot when expired). I can't stress how much I enjoy stopping them cold when they root and run in for the inevitable Armor Break/Whack-on-my-head phase of the battle. As the Paralyze is expiring I try to get off a Disarm to continue their inactivity. For me, if they aren't doing damage, I don't need to heal so much damage, and it doesn't cost me mind to sit there.
2) Thyroid Rupture. Some think it doesn't work in PvP - it does. Tested in a controlled series of duels. While the effect will differ on different templates, it does reduce, for two minutes, the damage output they're capable of delivering. And it always sticks. This is another inverted heal of sorts for me, since they deliver less damage, I need not heal as much.
3) Electrolyte Drain. A nice two minute snare. Being a pistoleer, I don't have a snare at my disposal, so this comes in handy.
In all, I had my best success since the CU early on when I was better able to control the pace of the fighting. As a crowd-controller/state-applier anyway, given my template, the complement of being able to bring them to a dead stop and slow their attacks on me when rooted is invaluable and has been a lifesaver. I recommend trying this highly and banking the 900k XP this weekend to go back to some other template in case it isn't for you.
Good luck.

This is the exact template I'm building up. Healing is great and all, but with bliel, stims, and bacta toss enhancers that don't suck I can keep up well enough, and I have those useful things.
A word of advice though, much like with regular snares, force run effectively mitigates away the effect of electrolyte drain, so once they get low I'd recommend having root or KD ready for when they force run and attempt to flee.

I'd rather have stopping shot because I control the flow of combat with it. Couple that with underhand, concussion shot, disarm shot, intimidate shot and Improved duelist stance.
If I'm having to heal as much as 4xxx CM allows then I'm doing something wrong.
With food and duelist my melee defense tops out in the low 600s.
With my scatter , canape, pixie, brandy, crispic, I can lay a decent amount of damage down fast without having to worry about my action. using adv crit and torso shot.
I have ruby as back up incase something goes wrong and with stims that heal 1291 per use
I can almost heal my full bar.
but i guess it just depends on your style of hunting.
I don't like jedi decaying my armor so I do my best to avoid it.
And if you can get them to heal every 6 seconds then they r going to run out of force anyways. the battle just takes longer.
What do you do when they root you? When I used roots and snares I was fine until they rooted me.I dunno, last night i fought a 211k jedi for 30 minutes and won using cm4000. It still doesn't seem my style though. You also make a good point about armor. I wonder how much damage was done to my armor during that fight. So confused am I.
I KD + Disarm. then I change tactics. If they root me I root them. Which means unless they are master saber they are just wasting force. They miss me with saber throw and root a lot anyways.
The trick to rooting is root with 3-5 secs left on your root snare. When root breaks kite until they get in 15m range and underhand + disarm and get at range. Kite a little more and reaply root. Get at max range and pour dmg on. When your kting regen your action by using placed or ranged shot on auto.
