we need a BH alpha class ... or some serious BH content ....

I've been MBH since Nov 2003 ... I do not want .. nor have I ever wanted to be a jedi ... but for the sake of some different content and a second character slot, I wish I had done the holocron grind when I had the chance....

would have been so easy since I was MBH first.. every other profession could have been macro'd or afk'd ... even jedi

I was more thinking, once you're a MBH and you have as many badges that it takes to be FS, you begin a long road to the ultra BH class, i'll call it hunter for now. (Because mandalorian is a race, so making it a class would be odd)

I like the idea of quests, with grinding BH exp for the new skill boxes, as oppose to the village grinding. That way grinding 'hunter' isnt afk'able or as dull and unrewarding. (And actaully makes sense, one would think slaughtering thousands of animals/people needlessly would be against the jedi code)

Then you unlock neophyte hunter as oppose to jedi inaite, do a long quest for your own personalized suite of armor and/or weapon.

Then for the over-all hunter options you would have "Weapons mastery" that would have something like this.

pistols/carbines/rifles/general weapons skill.

Then a 'hunting' section that would give general ranged combat bonuses.

Advanced droid use (New and better options for droid hunting)/Stealth (Being able to have some sort of cloak like thing for persuing marks)/inscintive hunting (Allows you to do hunting without droids for some aspects, droids would be more efficent and have a longer range)/Vechicular persuit (Faster and better control with vechicles)

Gadgets sort of class (Also would give general ranegd bonuses):
Wrist rockets/Launch cords (what boba used on luke over the scarlacc, a snare/root)/Droid tricks (enables Bounty hunters to use different droids and such in combat)/Wrist flamethrower (That explains itself)

And then a healing class, basicly a equivalent to Combat Medic.

Anyhow thats just a brainstorm on how i would have it, its not really a final draft or anything.

djeez what responses

"I've been a bounty hunter since 2003, and since I don't feel like trying one of the 31 other non jedi profs I want the devs to screw over every single combat class except jedi and BH"

thats just about what it comes down to for a lot of people....And I still need to see a MBH with no other combat skills beat a jedi...MBH is not an alpha class yet....it's just that some MBH templates are very powerfull

You're under the impression we still have an Alpha class in game. There were three options the Devs had with regards to Jedi and the "Alpha" status.

1) Do nothing, obviously this was not going to happen with all the whining which made Jedi easier to unlock and grind. Can't have an Alpha class when it's basically cake to get and play.

2) Make more alpha classes. This was popular to an extent. People did not want to go through the long boring grind as Jedi but some kind of quests ect... would have been welcomed to make more alpha classes to compete with Jedi (just like your suggestion)

3) Nerf Jedi, save time and money from making new classes and just knock down the only alpha class. Devs can now counter every whine since Jedi is near equal to regular professions.

They went with #3 obviously. The easy road, less expense. Why go through all the trouble making more classes that will have to be balanced and then re-balanced and then re-balanced again over and over. Simple solution would have been to make Jedi the only Alpha class but put in a time sink when you die (even as a full template) but that was just my opinion. That would mean you could pwn but the moment you get careless it's over for a set number of days or even a week. Instead we have carebears asking for visibility changes, unlocking to become easier, grinding to become the biggest joke (when vets look at it).....the class was doomed bycertain players lustfor easy power. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'd say some current Jedi thought the Jedi name should give certain rights to power, obviously they forgot that hundreds if not thousands roam each server. There would be zero balance if Jedi was to remain as it was.

What he said... Whoever thinks we are some Uber class right now, well sorry you suck at PvP you may need to learn some things from your comrads then.

I have fought some BH's for 30 and 40 minutes at times right there tells you that the balance is there that is for sure. -- You dont get to have the I win button either chaps.

lol no **edit**, I would shiver to see how well an ALPHA BH would do vs a Jedi. And yes I am a jedi and a bh so I know both sides of the spectrum.

Heehee, well as i have said a few times. If there was a BH alpha class, and jedi were removed from the GCW then there power would go up

Well, I've always felt the Jedi Nerf was the exact opposite of what this game needed. Jedi should not have been nerfed down to the level of all the other professions, but all the other professions given a path upward to allow players to build toons that were capable of challenging Jedi. But either way, right now Jedi are pretty much the weak sisters of the melee world -- aside from those who are blessed with pre-CU sabers.

Looking at this concept from the Bounty Hunter's perspective, I'd say the mechanism for advancement would definitely be quest-driven bounty missions, with LOTS and LOTS of practice (BH missions and BH XP grinding) between these special tasks. The player simultaneously sharpens his skills by hunting harder and harder marks while currying favor with the powerful, shadowy figures who employ him. In return, he both earns rich rewards andis allowed to becomeprivy to the darkest, most closely-guarded secrets of the Bounty Hunter craft....

A question: Is Boba Fett really the last of the Mandalorians? (mwah-ha-ha-haa-haaaa....)

Other "Alpha" profession ideas:

  • SMUGGLER: Crime Lord Through ruthless cunning and endless conniving, the smuggler accumulates a small core of followers, flunkies, spice junkies, and assorted riff-raff utterly beholden to him. This budding gang of NPCs generates both income and information for him, and can be relied on to assist in a scrap. He may even find himself challenging a Hutt for supremacy on a planet....

  • (several possible professions): Alchemist Just what was that Sith Lord, Exar Kun, up to anyway with his bioengineering and alchemical experiments?? Was he after a way to bridge the gap between the physical realm and the Force? to alter existence on some fundamental level? to tap into wellsprings of power beyond the reach of mortal flesh?? What do the mereks of Endor know that we don't know?

  • TERAS KASI: Legendary Master Okay, a 1st-degree Black Belt karate expert is a master of his craft in every sense of the word. But how many 1st-Dans would put themselves on a par with, say, a Bruce Lee? Only the bravest, most dedicated, most single-minded need apply....

  • ...and so forth....

Alright so there has been alot of talk of a Bounty Hunter alpha class to counter jedi - Currently i have no opinion so i'm just going to try and go over the issue.

Alright so first issue, Why would anyone want this?

1. It might be a balance issue to have a class devoted to keeping the jedi back, whilst the jedi do the same to us. Pushing alpha-classes out of the GCW. (Note: Some people say that the return of the FRS and dark vs light would do the same)

2. It give's a alternative end-game to going jedi and adds variety. (Fair enough)

3. More of a star-warsy feel, you can be like Obi-wan AND Jango Fett.

How could it be implemented:

1. A simaler system to the jedi village, with a grind. (Personally i feel this is not the way to go)

2. A entirely quest based system requiring you to learn unquie and advanced aspects of taking out dangerous criminals and all sorts of marks with new tactics (This i can go for)

3. A mix between 1-2, You have a bunch of quests and then to get to the next one you need to grind. But the exp required would be Bounty hunter exp, so it wouldnt be afk'able and you would have to put alot of marks under your belt to get this far. (Personally i favor this option)

What positive benefits it could have?

1.Well if the jedi and BH are fighting and are systematically removed from the GCW then you can give some power boosts to both sides.

2. The GCW can be restored to its former glory.

What negative aspects?

1.Could turn star wars into a mega conflict between Bounty Hunters and Jedi

2. Could turn the Dev's focus onto this as oppose to fixing broken things.

How could we resolve the above issues?

1. Make the conflict a 'hidden thing', While i dont have exzact ways to implement this. You could have it so the Jedi BH conflict was not in everyones face and disrupting the GCW and taking away from others.

2. Implement this after the major revamps and/or as part of the GCW revamp.

Well, that was a rough draft on this issue. I'd love to hear mature comments (note mature) from both jedi and bounty hunters.

Thanks

I'd be all for it. One thing though. Every BH must have to unlock, through a system equally as tedious and boring and as dumb as the Jedi system. Upon reaching BH, the BH innitiate shoudl have to then grind at a 80% XP penalty, and have to grind aproximately 2 times the actual xp for any skill box. At any point, should the BH be killed , they will loose an amount of XPrelative to their level. Once a fair number of BH's have unlocked, their profession will be completely redone, and nerfed due to whining by Jedi's. BH will then be "rebalanced" to be equal to that of your average Elite proffesion template, but only after you have wasted 6 months of hard work getting there. Jedi will now also be able to hunt you, and will purposely hunt you down whilst you are grinding, or trying to just chat with your friends.

Also BH's will now have to craft their own weapons, which will be roughly 1/2 to 2/3 the damage of most master level weapons in the game. The will also be given a "BH bar" which will be used anytime the BH does anything, along with having to take double the amount of action or mind during an attack that a any other proffesion would.

And finally, BH's will actually learn what it is like. But then again, no one "made" you go Bh, thats what you get.

It has nothing to do with an "alpha" class. There is nothing wrong with the Jedi or the BH. It is as it should be. BH are still there to keep Jedi content down and they do that just fine. Jedi still rock at full temp and dont give me some sorry arse excuse why they dont. Every good BH will tell you how tuff full temp Jedi are. The problem is SOE hired the worste staff in any of there games to run SWG. They are so fat and lazy leaning on the SW name to carry them to success that they havent fixed the pearl drops. When they do fix the pearl drops and tune some small things(very small) the balance will be near perfect. After that then playing a BH will be 5x harder when it comes to PC jedi hunting.
