Thread: BH Alpha class, go or no no?
alhpa classes suck...
how areyou going to keep jedi and bh out of regular pvp?
ah and BH might have a decent shot at jedi now, but wait till they fix the pearls drops/tuning...Then jedi will be totally overpowered YET AGAIN....you get a nice review from that when fighting jedi with all pre-curb pearls
but anyhow...alpha classes are bad as they make all other classes obsolete...
As for the loots, you could do for other proffs what they did for BH and give them access to a good source of quality loots so that the higher level players cant just camp the loot spawn points.
The last thing the game needs is another alpha class to further unbalance it. Alpha classes can either farm content or force the Devs to put it out of the reach of the beta classes.
And Jedi is still the alpha class... that's why all of the PvP d3wds go for it. That's why Jedi dominate the GCW. Having an alpha class was a bad idea. Having an alpha class that can be reliably obtained with no population control or signifigant hindrances is terrible and has virtually wrecked the game.
The Devs need to do something if they want to take the game back from the alpha l33t. Either balance the Jedi to the rest of the professions or add a serious handicap like saber-tef in NPC cities and/or XO66 strike squads that spawn when Jedi gain too much vis in an NPC city.

Maybe for some, and it's a good thing because the game needs crafters as much as it needs combat. Obviously many players choose Jedi because they think it is more fun than sitting in their house alone clicking through crafting screens, while watching other players' fun scroll you by in guildchat. This is not meant to be a flame, simply a statement of fact. I was a crafter character for quite awhile, until I got tired of my friends having all the fun while I sat in my house.
problem is, you've already got bounty hunters, so it'd be a free ride to "alpha"
the only fair thing would be to make a totally new class, like Echani

I definately agree. I am currently trying to grind out a Crafter for my guild, because of the drop in Crafters, and the state of the Economy. And I can easily say that I had more fun grinding out BH, and my TKM/Pike.
Wich is kind of my point. Aside from being labled the Alpha Class. Jedi are extremely independent. Relying very little on crafters, or any other "support" profession. Wich is drawing many people to it, creating a negative impact on the SWG Economies, and further causing the dwindling ofsupport professions.
We dont need anymore Alpha Classes. Alpha Classes only hurt MMORPG's in more ways than one.
on the contrary, it wasn't having the alpha class that hurt SWG. It was having ONLY 1 that hurt SWG. many alpha classes would have led to variety and such a balancing act would have been easier, since you wouldn't have to balance jedi skills against normal skills, but against other alpha skills, which would not be a bad thing.
as MMOs get older, of course theres lots of really advanced characters, but the problem is with SWG, all our advanced characters are the same.
Just a thought, everyone is thinking about making BH a Alpha Class, but why exclude all the other combat Professions.
WE should instead make 2 more Alpha Professions:One for Melee and one for Ranged
When you unlock your select alpha profession you get extra Skill points that you can only spend on that Alpha Profession (Melee or Ranged)
Alpha Profession Perks
1. Ranged: New Armor Certifications, New Weapons, New Attacks, Bonuses to speed and accuracy, Melee and Ranged Defence, Some Terran Negoiation, and burst run bonuses.
2. Melee: Same as Ranged
But if they introduce these alpha professions they can only be just as powerful as jedi if the path to get the alpha profession and the grind up it, are just as hard and long as jedi (which isnt saying much anymore).
Honestly I believe their will be a balancing nightmare if they come out with these 2 alpha professions. I much rather them just get Jedi out of the GCW (or give them a huge penalty for dieing in the GCW) and into the FRS, and balance the remaining elite professions, which it seems like they are doing now, with SL, Ranger, and then hopefully Smug, DE, BE, and Commando...so then GCW will be mostly reserved for Elite Professions.
Their are bigger issues than Alpha Professions, like balancing the Elite Professions, a House purge, and aBase cap is needed on planets too....Urban Sprawl is killing me, its so ugly and laggy...and unnecessary...

No...BH stay BH. The class I was refering to wouldn't hunt Jedi for bounty. The would be the Imperial to their rebel (just opposite faction). They would also be hunted by BHs becuase the Empire wouldn't want this class running around either. And it will have the same relative risks and losses as thaty of the Jedi. Perhaps a similiar system to that of the Jedi. Im just proposing a counter, a check and balance, to the games sole "alpha class". And no, BH are not an "alpha class", we are a normal profession, that has improved QUITE abit, but a normal class none the less. With todays system inplace, it is easy for someone to get MBH in alot less time than it took players who went for itin the past. What Im saying is that this new "alpha class" (let's say Mandalorian....I like that idea), requires alot time and work similar to that of acquiring a Jedi character. Its just a counter against them.
remember, this is just an idea...not something that will come into play anywhere in the far future.
