Thread: Y'know....IF they go with no-names on terminals...

#5 is an intriguing idea that should be explored.

Unless they're going to give BH's a cloak ability, the whole intelligence game will be throw out the window with anonymous missions.

let's say we don't get the name. How then are we going to know when we are close to a mark? I understand the idea of the seeker droids, but there are times when I don't need them-because I use a target macro. I don't run around hitting tab...tab....tab...nope, not him....tab....tab....tab....not her either....tab...tab...tab...tab

I also have used a network of people looking for other bounties-"if you see target X, send a tell, and I will let you know if I see target Y", which is the point of a guild type network of BH and informants.

This hit, if it ever happens, is so incredibly stupid that I can 't even begin to put to words how I feel about it. A finished template is not 1.5 times as strong as an MBH with another elite prof, it is far, far more powerful than that rating....they would really have to nerf jedi, or bump the power level ofBH waaaay up toeven get close to that formula.I can only imagine what an frs jedi is going to be like. I really don't see how the 1vs. 1 thing will work on a finished temp or frs knight. The problem with making BH waaay stronger though is that you can still be a jedi/BH. If you beef it up-then that will be the strongest class in the game. Truly, I think the only thing that they can do is delete the Alpha class from the game, start over with what jedi is, and make it a starting proffession, no stronger than any other elite proffession.

I always here that jedi is the reason this game is still around-because people want to be a jedi. Fine-let's let them all be jedi. Make everyone's grind harder to keep us around, but they will never get the balance right as long as jedi are the end game. Just make it a starting proffession, and then let bounties work on people by faction standing-not vis, or anything else. If you have -5000 faction with certain groups, they put a bounty on you and you get hunted. This seems to be how it works in the movies and the books-piss someone off, they lay a mark on you. The only thing that happens is that when killed, your faction standing with that group is set back to 0. This will allow almost every class (including BH) to get hunted,

I just want to know if the Jedi is in a private house or not. It is a HUGE gamebreaker to track your mark for half an hour only to find out that he's in a private house.

The terminals should display:

(1) Faction
(2) Online status
(3) Whether or not the Jedi is AFK in a private structure

These are the only things that are needed to hunt anonymous Jedi. The only valid reason people target specific Jedi is because if they chose a random name, then 9 out of 10 of the Jedi (I've actually done this testing) are in a private house.

I like the part about visibility determining payout.

but, if that happens they should make the bounty target attackable only after the bounty huntergets the name from somewhere, like a spynet guy, or his slicer/hacker buddy, something like that, that would keep the credit xploiting to a minimum.

with no names on the terms, how are we supposed to find our mark on kashyyk?

Honestly...I don't know. That's a serious flaw in the proposal. All I know is the dev's stated that names would be removed from terminals. Now I would think at some point you'd have to get a name. Maybe at the bio-sig "OH...yes...here we go. His real name is IpwntJoo Trashtalker."

I did just have an amusing thought on that though. Mebbe NPC wookie guides which would be unattackable by players. Could turn into an interesting mini-game. You get the sig and take it to a wookie hut. The wookie analyzes the sig and hands it off to one of his hunters, who starts heading toward the mark. Now you have to protect this wook from being killed (bump up the wookie's CL to match the terrain he'd be going through). If the wook dies, you have to go back to the bio-sig tent and get another one.

It's simple. The devs do nto want Jedi to be hunted on Kashyyyk- they've stated that flat out several times.

Also hence the seeker-droid nerf.

Although Jedi may remain anonymous on the terminals, there is no indication that they will remain so once the mission is accepted. Hopefully once you take the mission you will be given the players name.

Bumpage. Given recent potential developments, this is even more timely and topical.

Making the Jedi payout determined by their visability "level" is the best idea I have heard about improving the Bounty system. Great idea!

Not giving the name of your target to a Bounty Hunter is no where near realistic. Even in Star Wars universe the person who put the bounty on an individual gave the Bounty Hunter the Name of their target. Even in RL they get the name of their target...

I dont mind searching all over the place on kashyyk to find a jedi, it is alot more time consuming then if they were on another planet. But without names at all, well the Jedi would just exploit and stay in kashyyk 24/7 w/o the fear of ever being hunted. The whole point of BH is to find and kill jedi (in SWG) making the jedi careful how they play. Without Names the Jedi really have nothing to fear from BH as long as they are on Kashyyk. And in Kashyyk there is alot to do.

Well one thing that really does make sense is making sure the hunter knows what the payout is no matter what. Randomize it, but no one takes a job without knowing full well what they are getting paid for it.

I am a long time BH but this is a stupid thought. You want to speak realism? Do you think doing a /friend to see if they are online, then throwing a droid up and it comes back with exactly what planet and exact location realistic as well?
