She was actually going to be in "Return of the Jedi" she was sent to Jabba's Palace and disguised herself as a dancer and was going to kill Luke Skywalker.
That's not true. That story about Mara Jade being there to assasinate Luke is from the anthology Tales from Jabba's Palace. I picked it up when I started playing SWG (along with Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina) to learn more about the Expanded Universe (TM Lucasfilms Ltd.

Actually, you can't go by what Obi Wan and Yoda said in ESB. They only KNEW of two people that could be powerful enough in the force to face Vader and the Emperor. They knew that Anikan had two kids and that they would be strong in the force. They didn't know of other force sensitive people because the Dark side could still cloud the Jedi's vision. So it is quit possible to still have other force sensitive people during this time period. Afterall, the Jedi Council did not know about Anikan until Qui-Gon brought him before the council.

Hey GreenGlowie, the two they were talking about were Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. They were the two children of Anakin Skywalker.

You also have to take into account that when the movie came out and Yoda told Luke he was the last of the Jedi, all of the EU books had not been written. The only problem with continuity is the fact that Lucas came up with the original story, ala the first three movies made but all of the EU books that were written after those movies were written by several different authors. Since Lucas did not write all of the EU books and to be brutally honest, not all of the EU books are well written, some descending into hack writing, there is going to be breaks in continuity and some downright off the wall things that pop up.

At this time she is known as 'the emperors hand" i believe, making her an imp. Wasnt til after Return of the Jedi that she falls for luke and goes soft.

Her origins are in the first Timothy Zahn series of Star Wars novels (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command) In which she's a former Emperor's Hand that is working for Tallon Karrde after the Empire's collapse. Throughout the trilogy she's trying to kill Luke since the Emperor's last command to her was to kill Luke, but by the end she gets over it and they're no longer enemies, but not quite friends. After thatshe's a prominant character in the EU from that period (5 years after Endor) until the New Jedi Order era (25 years after Endor) in which she is married to Luke Skywalker and they have one kid, a baby named Ben (after Obi-wan obviously)

Mara Jade was not a Jedi, she was force sensitive, but far from a Jedi when she was with the imps.

I have talked with her before. As an imperial she said to me, "You are not worthy of him yet." Something like that. My intial thought is that after completing the retreat and talking with the Emperor, maybe she will feel you are worthy of her missions.
