Thread: How to avoid losing a Bounty Mark during your Investigation
/bump
couldn't let this one slip to the back of the pack, needs to be stickied or something
It should be stickied. I just had two wuss-marks (too afraid to show), and I tried seekers, but not probes.
Great post!
Alright... I have now been able to confirm (using Ranger Tracking skill and testing it on10 marks) that the marks (waypoints)DO in fact move to 256m of you before stopping.
Therefore... I will change my notes from the above first post to read 256m instead of 500m. (Although I noticed in one instance that the mark moved to 202m before stopping his "run".)... not sure on why that happened... yet.

very nice write-up indeed. but i think you're wrong about #4.
on a couple occasions i've taken missions, and then got distracted by something. a little while later i'd take the shuttle to the planet the mark is on, let loose a seeker, and the mark isn't on the planet.
it seems there's a delay on the time the mark actually starts moving after a mission is accepted, so we have time to call the probot base, and then(of course) wait for the shuttle(or two, depending on the departure times on a particular day).
i estimate this time to be around 8 minutes. Kaadara for example.
get off shuttle and run to terminal: 30 seconds
brouse missions and accept one: 30 seconds
run to informant: 30 seconds
run outside of town, call probot and run to it: 60 seconds
run back to starport: 30 seconds
wait for arakyd report: 180 seconds
*all times approximate and rounded to nearest 30 seconds
what all this is leading to, is that if you get a mission on a planet you are on, don't send out the seeker right away or it will reportback the same location the arakyd did. wait about 2 minutes after recieving the first WP from the arakyd and you should be fine.
this also goes for getting the transmission from the arakyd, buying the ticket to said planet, and the shuttle being there when you get to the ticket collector. just wait a couple minutes after you getto the planetand all should go well.
i find this helps a lot, especially in the higher investigation with the backwards seeker times.
but that's just my account as i saw it, not to put a downer on what you suggested whatsoever. these guys need all the help they can get.
Ok if its really a TEF problem the reason they go white, the give me a EF like i have for the cops in every city.. -5000 faction for corsec hehe.. i really dont care if they spawn yellow to everyone else.. hell you can do my job for me if you want.. means less shuttle time..
Also, yesterday I had a no-spawn mark just in the outskirts of a city. I killed everything around the waypoint, walked away 300 metres, launched another seeker droid and it appeared. The waypoint moved a couple hundred metres but the mark spawned.
*sigh* Why isn't this sticky?

Remember, for marks stuck in buildings, Lightning Cone is your best friend
If pets can't reach pull it out, put an enemy right in front of your mark (I punch some low level critter and I run to where the mark is) and use Lightning Cone, it will hit the mark and pull it out. ![]()
Losing a mark on the same planet, and or losing TEF, I have discoverd that if a mark is on the same planet, and you take a shuttle , you have a better than 50/50 chance of the mark losing TEF. I.E. If a mark is in or near coronet, and you take a shuttle to Kor Vella , then to Coronet , the system for some reason, removes the TEF from your mark, making him un-attackable. I say better than 50/50 because out of 5 missions where I have done this , only 1 did not lose his TEF. I believe the system looks at it like you made a mistake , and have allowed your mark to get away. I have just started invest 2 so I am not as experinced as most of you, but I hope this helps.

In fact... as I had originally stated - 90% of all marks will lose their TEFs between Tyrena and CoronetAND anywhere near a player placed structure around the cities just adds to the % lost.
Thanks for input.. keep it coming... you never know who it may help one day. ![]()
Is theres a way to predic where mreo or lees wich city he is near on a planet when you ge the info from the probot? thing is i hate shuttles. For example my mark its a Talus so i pick to go to Dearic, when i arrive the **edit** is near the imperial outpost redy to move and guess what? I need to wait ten minutes becase the shuttle left me because my droids are to slow to update.
