I've been considering more about the Jedi who run into faction bases to avoid a fight.... I don't think it needs to be fixed. There is NOTHING that stops a bounty hunter from entering the base and attempting to kill the Jedi. I feel it's a good tactic to use. Any bounty hunter who DOES enter that base to kill his mark is a fool if he goes in without some backup. This happened to me the other night....

I chased the mark halfway across Dantooine, and he runs into a small rebel base. Being a perma combatant Imperial I could have gone in straight away and died trying. What I did, was call in the guild back-up. In less than 5minutes I had 4 Jedi, 2 MBH's and a melee/doc there to assist with clearing the base for me. They cleared the base, I went in, and killed the Jedi who ran from me. He sent mea tell saying that he thought he had a good idea running into the base, but that after the result, it wasn't such a good idea, and gave me a /salute for it.

For those same faction bounty vs jedi situations, it's not a problem at all.... just run in, take em out. For the neutral bounty hunters.... I would just tell them to buy some faction on both sides, if a mark runs into a base, chances are, it's going to be a PvE base, just join that faction on the spot, and go in.

It's that simple to me, but then I guess I am a bit more patient than some of the other hunters.

As far as the space thing goes.... If you can't enter space on your own while in combat, it's got to be a bug that you can board another's ship while in combat, and I hope it will be addressed soon.

I am a fan of letting them go into space, and having the ability to target them, and kill them in their or a friend's ship. Their personal ship destruction is not an issue for anyone really, but the idea of killing another player's causes heated debate. I breaks down for me like this: If you HELP a Jedi get away from an engagement, then you should have to be accountable for that. THE WORST thing that can happen in space is you lost about 20-50k in credits for repairs and get about 100? wounds? There is no decay or serious penatly for dying in space. That being said.... If a Jedi boards another players yacht while TEF'd, I would submit to you that, we SHOULD be able to blow that yacht, and everyone on it to space dust. Since the penatly for being a Jedi is death, then being an accomplis to the Jedi's lawlessness should be capital puniushment also, right?

First off, Yes there are ways to deal with base hiders. Sounds like this worked for you, but if I were that running Jedi, the moment I saw people from your guild on my screen I'd have done a /sit logout. If the guy was overt the bh could have just brought in a friend before his initial attack. That happened to my Jedi. While I was ticked at losing to a bh via a swordsman, it was a very smart move.

In regards to the subject of this post, obviously if you can't escape in combat normally, you shouldn't be able to via a friend. There's other ways for Jedi to escape on the ground while in combat but I won't go into detail about that.

Bottom line is if a Jedi has root/stasis or any form of forcerun they should be able to survive if they aren't caught off guard initially or being attacked by multiple bh. Well, any finished template Jedi. Obviously padawans have their troubles.

Many of you are missing the point:

You cannot launch into space while engaged in combat. Whether you agree that this makes sense or not, is not the point. The game has been designed such that you cant. However, you can accept a ride from someone else's ship. This seems like a bug since it is not consistent.

Just like how you could not pull a ride out while in combat, but you could accept a ride from a friend's multi passenger vehicle. Same thing to me. The developers negated that. They should negate players in combat being able to "escape" comabt to space via a friend's offer.

Samous, please add this to the list of things that need fixing.

Wow I never knew we could do this... (scribbles it down). Next time I want to see a BH whine I think i'll call a guildy and book it to the Starport.

Thanks.

Actually, there's no wounds from dieing in space anymore, though your ship and its components will decay upon being destroyed, unless you're destroyed in Deep Space.

escaping combat via spaceship has been an integral part of the movies since luke, ben, han and the slave hauled out of mos eisley under heavy st fire in anh.

So was the annhilation of the jedi, and that hasn't stopped anyone yet.

Of course it's a bug. You can't access the terminals yourself while in-combat, and others sure aren't supposed to be doing it "for you".

My inclination, contrary to some of my fellow glo-bat holders, is that it should be a bug and should be fixed.

If a player cannot escape via a ship/shuttle during combat, and can only do so through the interference of another, then it seems right that they should never be able to do so.

Realism is all well and good until it interferes with gameplay.

Speaking of hiching rides, we've got a couple of jedi snooping about. We should go mess with their board also >=D

But yeah if we'r going to look at this problem based on the game mechanics, the way bh/jedi thing goes is that any outside interferance while they are fighting under a mission is considered an exploit. When in combat one shouldnt be able to excape in a shuttle like that, thats not the way its suposed to work. And yes I've had this happen to me as well, maybe we should bring this to the atention of our representative if its happening that often. Maybe we should start another post with ATT to him.

I would say bug and Exploit if it is used intentionally.

Your not able to use them yourself when in combat and having someone else do it is obviously finding a flaw in that system.

Samous is well aware of the problem, it's hardly new. It's been around since JTL launched.
