If you're using the movies as the basis of this discussion, please note that there were about 10 Jedi during this time period. Have most of the Jedi delete their chars, then we're in line with the movies.

I LIKE this idea..I like the notion of putting a Jedi off the server for 24 hours if he gets caught. That will teach maleringering Jedi to stay out of public and in hiding where they belong. Jedi have no reason to hide currently, none whatsoever. Its only the baby-Jedi that have to hide while they fill up their templates
Another idea that might work is doing this for NPC marks. Say the customer will pay extra to have the bounty brought to them alive, for whatever reasons. You can use certain tools such as bindings or cuffs. To be able to use these the opponent has to have some state applied to them or knocked down. Then you use one of you tools to bind them or capture them. Then when you capture them they get stored in your datapad. You now have to deliver them to someone that is employed by the customer to take the mark off of your hands. But on the way to that middleman you will be attacked by other NPC bounty hunters and generic goons, thugs, cronies, etc. If you make it to the middleman alive you will be rewarded even more credits for bringing them in alive.
NPC Jedi marks would be fun (not as fun as chasing down a live, smack talking Jedi, but fun never the less)
This is just a little bit of my idea and I havnt really expanded on it. I know it will probably never be implemented cuz there is so much more that needs fixing in the other professions. I think its better than ruining another player's fun.








I am commenting on your first paragraph in yellow.
If you happen to be ganked by Jedi always ask yourself this question: Why am I travelling overt ungrouped when I know I could be running into a group of overt opponents at any time who do not necessarily have to be Jedi?
If you run into a group of 3 or more enemies you are dead no matter who you are facing. And ganks dont happen just by Jedi. This is a group game since CU, dont go overt on your own or you will be killed by the ones who travel overt only in groups. Starport ganking has been done for a long time, and Jedi didnt start it nor are Jedi the only ones doing it currently.

Basically you would have all you have today bring back names to missions.. but instead of killing the Jedi you simple report? New feature and several of the Emporer's Red clad Sith show up and escourt the Jedi to jail for 24 hours.

The loss to the Jedi would be 24 hours of time he cannot level up and his Saber (would need to spend all the time making new one).

Exp loss is bad for fun. PERIOD.

No one could grinp about losing a Saber and 24 hours. You see a Jedi can gain 200k exp in a few hours so puting him in jail will remove potential exp instead of punishing a player and removing something he/she worked for.

Jedi could either log into his other character or just sit in jail and talk to friends for 24 hours. Jail would have a shielding that removed and prevented force regen.

This is good for both classes as it can remove some of the personal nature it has now by one player punishing another (exp loss).

The could add more skills like statis fields on Probots that BH's could use to hold the Jedi till the Empire shows up.

a) Im fine with a copy of the saber as a trophy, the actual saber is off limits - please review saber resource prices on your server.
b) Making a player unable to play his toon which he is paying for is not a good idea. As you already said, 450k xp can be made in a few hours (about 2 to 4 under current xp rules, this will change with pub 21), so 24 hours is in fact more of a penalty than the xp loss currently is. If I dont get to play my Jedi char when I would like to play it for 24 hours, I want 1/30th of my monthly subscription fee back. Simple as that.
