The basic attack does have a speed modifier on it. Otherwise it'd charge up just as fast as the rest of the specials when you fire it. The damage multiplier on it is 1.0 (so no damage multiplier), as far as I know, but this can be affected by the opponent's defenses and your own accuracy.

This says that speed means nothing but I dont believe this to be true. The fact is that there is a cooldown timer for each special, but if you are alternating specials there is another generic cooldown before you choose you next shot. This generic cooldown does seem to be affected by the speed of your weapon and skills. With a modifiedspeed of 1.01 which I have on one of my rifles, I can use headshot, critical shot, torso shot and cycle through them 6 times over 6 seconds to dish out close to 6k damage. With my slower rifle that has a modified DPS of 1.7 seconds but a slightly higher max damage (1300 as compared to 1100 on the faster and higher dps weapon) imy shots are indeed slower tocycle through.

For jedi their heals can occur fast but it is possible to dish out enough damage really fast to incap them before they can get a second heal off if done right. I find that I can do this easily and frequently with my high dps weapon which actually has a lower max than my lower dps weapon with a higher max.

When hunting jedi specifically you have to have spurts in which you dish out a crazy amount of damage quicklyon them, especially for the higher level ones. I find that the default ranged attack which doesnt use hardly any action is much faster and pours out more damage with a higher DPS weapon, despite the lower max damage. I use the default ranged shot quite extensively when fighting jedi over extended battles becuase it does dish out a respectable stream of damage forcing them to continuously heal, using up their force and or stimpacs at no action cost to me. This frees up my entire action pool for a salvo of special attacks at a moments notice. If the jedi skips a beat in his healing then I am there to pounce with a barrage of high damage specials in rapid succession. My higher DPS weapon is vastly superior to my slower, yet higher damage and (lower DPS) counterpart in doing this

Ok, for all those who actually believe DPS means something, please tell me if you think a Jedi LSwith 50k DPS was accurate?That is what was put on the DPS because ofbugged the speed for sabers was too fast at first (some had 0.0-0.4 speed) and the DPS was coming out insane.


So, if you truely believe DPS means something that means you think those Jedi who were testing were actually able to do 40k damage a second lol. That's just funny considereing when they bumped the speed up they were still doing the same damage per second.....hmmmm 1+1 = 2. DPS doesn't mean crap as far as I'm concerned with the diminishing returns forumla they have running in there.

sounds like a decimal error, just like with those bugged crystals where the speed would come out to be 6.3 instead of 0.063. The speed of the crystal decreased by 0.063 even though it showed 6.3.

It was a mistake but not a bug. The devs gave pearls/crystals too big of a speed modifer at first so it just about made all lightsabers ridiculously fast. Now what I find funny is just because your weapon has .04 speed doesn't actually mean you hit every .04 seconds. With the diminishing returns forumla you see a cap eventually, which is why I say for the most part DPS actually means very little with most weapons (due to people stacking general speed with theweapon speed)and why most Jedi choose a non-MLS template now. Heck I couldn't see a difference in my Damage dropping to 2 branches of Saber from MLS yet my DPS listed dropped by 100 (I do have +25 speed mods though heh)

diminishing returns does not apply directly to the dps, nor does it apply to the mod speed or the min/max damage values on the weapon. Diminishing returns applies to how much the mod speed on your weapon is affected by the increase in speed mods on your character depending on how much speed mods your chracater already has.


the speed mods on your characterare a control in this case, not a variable. The variable is the dps (and consequently the speed and damage values of the weapon). Even though the speed mods on your character will influence the mod speed value of the weapon, it will affect each weapon the same since the point is how dps is helpful relative to each individual, not howevery individual is in relation to each weapon.
