Sorry, didn't get that part. I would say the most important ONE stat is damage.
why did you now avoid the second part of the question?
I said - "more specifically, if you could only know one stat on a weapon, what would it be? If your answer isn't dps then why is your answer a better indicator of the overall quality of the weapon?"
I didn't say it was a better indicator, I said it was a quick reference, meaning it's like a candy wrapper. It shows a picture of the candy, but to get the real taste, you have to look at all the stats of a weapon, not just DPS.

My bow is 640ish - 1202
2.35 (base before PU)
1.41 (modified before PU)
.9 (modified after PU)
387 base DPS (before PU)
514 base DPS (after PU)
950 mod DPS (after PU)
Converted SAC cost of 104
your numbers are off. Your min dmg would have to be 620 in order for your base dps to be 387 and your modified dps would be 646, not 514. And both 514dps and 950dps are listed as "after PU", I assume you meant that the 514 was the moded dps.

The reason why DPS or even mdps is misleading for amaster professionhas been explained and re-explained on both the weaponsmithand the pistoleer forum countless times.
to summon it up:
- dps/mdps is a straight calculation that uses min and max damage and doesn't consider efective speed. why is this important:
1) there is no variation of damage in sucessive shots of the same type. I always hit the same opponent for the same damage each time i usethe same special, so a average of min damage and max damage is irrelevant . this happens because of the introduction of the combat character/npc level in the damage equation. The damage dealtper shotis calculated over the maximum damage of the weapon.
2) dps/mdps gives a damage calculation of a basic shot. Doesn't consider special and theircooldown period, when in fact most of the damage I do - actually all of the damage i do, but this is my case, with others it can bedifferent- is the result of using special attacks.
3) dps/mdps is a value calculated under the principle that one can fire at any speed, what is not the case. My modified attack speed with a scatter and a speed power up is 0.69 seconds. I garantee that I can't fire any shot with a delay of 0.69 seconds. There is in fact one cap , and that cap on rate of fire is 1 second. Apparently there is a pratical cap of 1.20/1.25seconds between specials- it is not a effective cap and it is possible to bypass that in theory, but due to the diminuitive returns on the speed formula and the limit of external speed skills, it is impossible for one to stack enough speed mods to do such.
4) Notice that most of what is said here is rooted on the principle that the character speed mods are equal or superior to 105, what normally happens afte rmastering 1 profession and dablling enough in other ranged profession to get general ranged speed mods.
504-1109 dmg
2.37 speed
base dps 340- that means crap
SAC 71.

mods like accuracy account for difference in damage and how much damage you do relating to the min and max damage.

doesn't have to consider specials to be useful, and it does consider cooldown timers. You can get more shots off with a gun that has a lower moded speed than one with higher moded speed.

speed less than 1 or 1.25 seem to be the only misleading stat.

DPS is not the most important stat, it's simply a quick referenceof the overall quality of the weapon, based on the combination of the other stats.
The BASE speed, damage, and SAC defines a good weapon.

Because a weapon could have a good DPS, like 342, and have a high SAC cost, like 120+. Which would make the weapon not as good as one with say, a DPS of 311, and a SAC of 93.
I didn't say a weapon with a high dps wouldn't suck if it also had a really high sac. I asked, if you could only know one stat, which would it be.
but this question doesn't matter anymore since I just learned that speed doesn't modify the cooldown timers, which makes dps misleading. But next time, answer to what I ask, not what I don't ask.
