Well i think to balance cloak you need to look at what it actually is / does. Its totally unrealistic, even in the star wars universe, for a jedi to just 'become invisible' in the middle of a fight when the BH he's fighting is looking directly at him. Jedi cloak, as it states, clouds peoples vision, miss direction ... and we all know that jedi mind tricks only work on weak minded fools - is that what SOE thinks of us MBHs?

I think it should be changed so that it only cloaks the jedi from people who aren't within line of sight, therefore, the jedi would have to run pretty far away from any BH chasing him to be able to cloak him self. I also think, that it should have a good chance of breaking when being used against an enemy the Jedi has been fighting, especially in the case of a BH, who would be actively looking for him ... and especially if he's standing 10m away!

Jedi cloak does not cloud peoples vision or misdirect. When you turn it on it simply sais you wrap yourself in a cloak of force. And really jedi spend 3 million xp on that skill alone, along with 28 skill points. Not using it would be stupid.

Why? A jedi can't trick a BH's mind so easily? Think of the stormies obi-wan could trick, or anythig like that. Actually jedi mind trick works on more complicated minds (it didn't work on jabba or watto but it worked on all humanoids as far as I can remember).

And Dark Jedi Knight.

In my opinion, cloak should simply be moved to master powers: cloak is a powerful skill, but I don't think that it should be nerfed. IF they move it to master powers, low lvl paddy would not be able to use cloak as a tool to avoid exp loss.

And I can assure you that Master Powers would not be very common anyway, because it is extremely underpowered compared to MDef or other templates.

That being said.. As a DJK, I wouldn't run from a BH. My template is complete anyway, I will stay and fight, no matters if I lose (not to mention that nowadays it is quite uncommon to be attacked by more than 1 BH at a time).

Did I get MPowers for cloak? Not really, I got it because it makes me feel like a Dark Jedi

Why do I like cloak? Because it is a powerful PvE tool. It is also extemely valuable to sneak in an enemy city and check how many overts there are. And it is lovely to try and escape from a GCW fight when the enemy MLS/dmg dealers finally realize who is the Jedi that is keeping them intimidated and KD

I am fine with Padis using it to escape, I just dont like the recruiter campers that attack while cloaked and stay cloaked for some reason. You have to check your combat log to find out who was beating on you 30 secs after declaring, that seems slightly overpowered to me.

Wait, that isn't cloak, that is an exploit.

I won't post how is it done, for obvious reasons, but I can assure you I sent more than a bug ticket

Regular cloak does break if you attack someone.

Well according to the skill box description it say's "This ability enables the jedi to cloud the minds of those nearby into not seeing the jedi". Of course you would be silly to not use it, but an invisibilty cloak like that would be more suited to "Hogwarts Online" as opposed to a Starwars MMORPG

And KaliMaul ... you cant honestly compare a jedi master mind tricking the decendant of what we know to be "genetically dumbed down" clones to turning completely invisible in the middle of a fight whilst surrounded by people?

Those were stormies, not clones. And I think that all jedis have specializations - if you spend 15% of your skill points on one skill, I would call that a specialization. And again, why do I have to keep saying this: post-cu jedis have no chance of survival without runaway and hiding abilities. Cloak is good as it is now.

Cloakers are not a problem for me. My Bh is a creature handler and they can't cloak with 2 pets nippin at their heels. You need to learn there are those you can beat and those you cannot. The system is not setup as to allow every template to neccessarily stand toe to toe with every other template. I can't beat defenders with my BH but i love to find a cloaker They are not use to fighting for the most part and get very anxoius when they can't cloak... just the way I like it.

I just want to know what happened to all the other posts. I wrote a reasonably long response to this topic yesterday, and now it's gone. I thought I was being rather constructive too, as were several other people in this thread. So where did they go?
