Thread: bounty hunter option on player marks. captureing marks.
first there is a smuggler revamp look at the in concept page fugly.
2 you do not have to take a smuggling mission that puts you on the terms. the ones that gets you on terms are more rewarding.
also it would be better if we capture and got a better payout from the capture instead of kill, unless the bounty placed on the person who failed the mission or stole the goods is wanted dead only.
you see on terms wanted player x dumped cargo at the first site of imeprial. bring alive. this one you get more payout if you capture the mark. if you want to kill you get less.
other one would be wanted player x for stealing from jabba wanted dead. this one more payout for dead. if capture you get less.
now as i said when the mark gets captured he is sent back to the person who hired him. say jabba. he is not stuck can't move. he gets a message that sayd pay jabba x amount to be able to move or take a mission. note you take the mission you fail it or say dump it after you leave, or keep what jabba wants you to smuggle or transport, your punishment is on the kill listing.
now if you complete the mission or pay jabba you are not on the bh terms and do not have any bounties on you until you get YOUR self on the term.
this is something that can be tied into the smuggler revamp.
note i am not advocateing player placing bounty on player. this is an option for bounty hunters to be like real bounty hunters and something diffrent.

Make it so that, if the BH DB the said smuggler, the mission fails. Done. Simple...we would then have a great RP sense for the whole thing, and there would be no real loss for the smuggler player in case a BH got him.
The smuggler should be CAPTURED, NOT KILLED...so you incap the smuggler, and that would represent him/her being captured (like if he/she was unconscious, then captured).
Please let's keep this thread as constructive as possible! It's the first step to make the idea really work. Help me on this one!

Alot of neat ideas but I highly doubt we'll see much more content like Jedi bounties. I remember when the game released, I was all over those battlefields. Where are they now? Anything GCW or whatever...is not going to happen. Expect to see expansion to expansion released....tons of eye candy...quest...bugs galore...old creature templates with new names! over and over again.
I ask once again, fellow BHs...let's keep this thread as constructive as possible. Otherwise yes, we will NEVER see other Player Bounties implemented in the game.
But let's look at Smugglers...it took them forever BUT they are finally getting a well-deserved revamp.
So, it may take us forever...BUT we must start right now to gather great ideas for Player Bounties.
And honestly I think the Capture Bounty idea is a great one, so I'm more than happy to help the BH Community to develop it further to help the devs in the job (the way a lot of Smugglers did, and it worked).
i will not be deafeted or pose that attitude that soe won't listen. we can keep this idea up and get this to the attention of our corro if he does his job. this idea can float before the smuggler revamp goes into test.
every bh who is a sw fan knows the line from fett to vader in empire strikes back. HE IS WORTH ALOT MORE TO ME ALIVE THAN DEAD.
why not get a bigger payday for the capture instead of killing our mark.
now the jedi out there might like this idea for captureing optioninstead of deathblowing.
if the bounty hunter decides to capture hismark,lets send them to the imperial prison on dath where the corrupt warden takes bribes or jobs for them to get out of there. if they take the job and ditch run or fail. they get the kill flag and big payout if you kill them.
now if they pay the i let you escape unhinder or does this small job and i let you go you are removed from the terms.
also for doing that you could get a bonus of no bounty for a week. meaning flash your glowstick anywhere without getting vis. for a week.
something like that.
I know...I haven't been a BH for a long time...but I'll offer a couple of suggestions.
I think it is a great idea for there to be a capture-option. I would suggest that this be a huge pay-out mission with added obstacles. My concept would look like this:
1) Capture the Jedi...just like regular missions; you fightuntil he is incapped then the DB isa "capture" timer.
2) Player becomes a carbonite-like pallet upon capturethat floats with the BH as he gets him to Jabba, the Emperor, or whoever issued the bounty (why not...it makes it Star Warsy...).
3) NPCs attempt to free the Jedi enroute to the starport.
3) BH has to fly through space to get to the drop-off...maybe it is always a space station or can be another ship like a Star Destroyer, Correlian Cruiser or whatever.
4) BH has to fight opposing faction NPC ships to get to the station
5) Once at the destination, the transaction is complete and the bounty is payed. This could include a medal or special badge.
A couple of notes:
1) The Jedi player has the option tospawn in a cloning terminal so he isn't 'griefed' for the duration of this long mission. The BH would still continue his mission, but the Jedi would immediately lose XP with no hope of recovery even if the mission is failed. Otherwise, he can sit back and (enjoy) the ride, hoping to be freed and not lose the XP. /addignore might be an important function at this point...just kidding.
2) The carbonite pallet (or whatever it will be called) can be a craftable/required item. The process of freezing would be fun to watch...
3) The difficulty of the NPCs on the ground and in space would have to make sense...neither too hard nor too easy.
4) SF missions could allow for the option of SF players to free the Jedi...though this could degenerate into unnecessary ugliness.
Those are my thoughts. Great idea in the OP. A bounty on anyone who jacks this thread into flames...

i've wanted to se a capture option for ages. it could be that missions that are capture mission send people to the imp prison on dath (or to the appropriate person, say jabba's rancor pit or some such) where you can find ways to escape (via stealth), birbe your way out, or fight your way out.

I really liked your ideas, Wolf.
Some thoughts...
1-) How would the player (Jedi, smuggler or whatever) "see" the gameworld while he/she is being trasported? I think this is the biggest issue here...
2-) Great idea on the DB warm-up actually being a capture warm-up...as if the mark was being hand-cuffed, frozen in carbonite or something.
3-) As you stated, other players helping freeing the mark would be complicated...check out what the Rebels went through to get Han freed (including SOTE here!) It was a hell of a trouble to release him...so I don't think other players interfering would be nice. I can see a lot of ganking and griefing on this...
4-) Loved the idea about space-figthing too. I see some options here:
a-) If the player doesn't have JtL, he could use a regular shuttle/starship for no space combat;
b-) If the player HAS JtL and is willing to, he could travel between planets by space. In that case, I sugest we had a, say, 70% chance of opposing faction ships showing up.
I think this JtL inclusion idea should be developed better in the near future, like difficulty of the attacking ships. It's going to be hard, but rewarding if this ever worked out fine.

If I remember correctly, the world automatically switches to a third-person view when you die? I imagined it that way...you view the BH and your body from third person. There is a problem there with regard to your third point...I could /tell friends where I am to come get me if I am SF and SF are allowed to try to free me.

The goal would be to make this fun, not contribute to ongoing issues. It might be best to leave it to the BHand opposingNPCs to determine if it is a successful capture.

wolf your ideas are good but a little complicated. with the freezing etc. i like to keep it simple and easy to implement doing the freezing thing and travel etc would take to much time to implement and design.
i just like to get a bigger payday for captureing jedi and smugglers. if you want to be a sadistic and deathblow them go ahead and get paid regular. this would bring jedi to fight cuase if they get capture get sent to prison and do a quest to be release and complete that quest they get off the terms and can't be on them for a week. if they fail to do the mission that gets them out of jail they stay on the term and are wanted dead and you get a big payout for killing them.
but i am glad to see people who actually like this idea and lets keep this up.
