this happened to me in pvp--i'm a master, and got eaten by two noobs using posture down attacks...it took them 3 minutes to kill me, all the while i'm kneeling or prone. I posted on this the day of the big ultra nerf patch, but it got buried b/c everyone was more concerned about the knockdown HAM cost.

for ranged users, posture downs in pvp are largely irrelevant--they can keep shooting. brawlers need a big defense against these attacks, otherwise we are screwed.

Let supression fire work FOR you.

I am a TKA with a bit of pistol on the side. I went up the Ranged Support line precisely so I could get Supress Fire. Sick of people kiting you? Just supress them and close with your fists. It's a fairly cheep skill to get and complements TKA very nicely.

I agree with the previous poster, I spread my skills out.

I'm a medic with 500/500 heals/ a pistol with Suppression fire/ and a TKA student working on master.

Not sure what kind of problems other people are having, but if you keep getting beat the same way, adjust your strategy. Don't become one cry nerf crowd.

Since the pvp 75% the only person to kill me in 30 seconds or less was another TKA . =)

Though I havent run into a rebel master heavy swordsman yet.

Lucky that we have combat equilibrium... What's that you say? It doesn't work???!?!! Whaaa? And the devs still don't realise it doesn't work?!?!!? Whaaaa?(Rumor has it that the game is 3mb and the other two discs were just scribly drawing that Holocron made in art class)

I've been killed faster thanyou can say "Nerf BHs" by... a BH using eye shot. Hit me for over 200 every shot. Consdiering I have 1000 mind, and he shoots once per second, I died in 5 seconds. Only thing I could kill that fast is a proned rifleman.(And even then it'd be pretty close)

Please nerf TKA's! I just one hit incap'd myself again with knockdown!

This is why I'm going up the smuggler dirty fighting tree. Low blow for ranged KD. Only defense I could think of.

I have seen alot about this attack in this forum and wanted to let you people know something about it.

Until a few months ago suppression fire was the best PvE attack in the game. I could solo just about any red con I came up against untill the timer on posture changes went into affect. Don't say this attack needs to be fix since it is now working as intended. The old suppression fire was a huge balance issue. The attack still works great. Its on par with most other posture change attacks. If you need another posture change attack use actionshot1. Most times that attack makes my target kneel. Combine the 2 and I think you'll like the results.

Some of you will flame me for thinking its a good attack. Thats fine. Regardless of what you think about suppression fireI still use it and I am a 3/4/4/4 BH.

I'm near Master Rifleman and I still use it. I think it's a useful attack, but it might need like a 5-10% increase in effectiveness. Carbineers have the second skill of this, so I wouldn't want to overpower our SuppressionFire, but I think a little boost couldn't hurt it.

Sorry for the newb question, but what makes this attack so special ?

Is it because it will effectively immobilise melee opponents ?

lowers your target's posture one step (standing to kneeling, kneeling to standing), so yes, stops them in their tracks.

I'm working towards this, as I've managed to get the dizzy from /fullautosingle1 (carbines 2) to stick a couple of times. Ghetto knockdown will be nice.

it works like the first time and sometimes after that but it still needs a boost in effectiveness

All,

I Need some advice from the experts: How valuable do you find suppression fire in PVP? I was considering giving it up to make a bit more room for something else. Is it something that I could easily get along without in PVP, or should I reconsider my decision? I've noticed that a lot of your macros have it included so I was just wondering what your opinions are.

Thank you for your time,

TJ

Well supression is a way for a rifleman to achieve some sort of Knock Down.

Just dizzy the target and hit them with suppression, when they attempt to stand they may fall down.
And then when they try to stand it may repeat itself.

This works well with NPCs, but I have note seen alot of success in PvP.

I'm not a master though, so I dont shoot quite as fast as they, I have to rely on my mind poison quite a bit.

I hate it in PvP. Just doesn't seem to work that often if you ask me

However, I found it quite useful in PvE when combined with either of the Flurry shots
