Thread: These elite marks are killing me
pinkwasp wrote:Master Bounty Hunter/ Master Rifleman/ Novice DoctorThis is the template I respeced my alt to to get some of that loot that BH marks are now dropping.Killing a double chevron lvl 82 elite mark with 33k HAM is easy for me.Some things I have found useful are high energy resist armor, PSGs, blob candy, and a duelist stance macro.
MBH/3444 Carbs/Pistoleer 0003 - CL 77
I got my ass handed to me by the first 3 silver chevron marks I came up against. Ruby, stims, Breath of Heaven, and Booster Blue.. nothing helped.
MBH/Master Carbineer/Pistoleer 0003 - CL 80
Same food. Discovered the joys of Duelist Stance. I mop the floor with the double gold elite marks every time. I mean.. they don't even stand a chance anymore. Tack on Doc-buffs? No contest. I don't even think I used stims during the last two I fought.
My advice to the OP: finish your template before hunting the elites.

That's not really a good option, now is it? You don't know until you arrive what grade of mark you'll have, and bagging the mission after all that would be a colossal waste of time.
Here's my advice: I've been taking missions a few levels below mine since the loot is just as good for me, and the kills are simpler and quicker. If you're grinding these missions for BH xp, try this and see how much of an xp hit it brings. Im willing to bet it won't be too much, and when the game adds +2-3 levels for the elite, it will end up being right about your CL.
It's not your lack of skill, or the fact that this is an elite that's leading to your troubles, its the CL differentials.
just so you are aware Kystan, i am not a respec BH, i am grinding out ever skill level in every profession. I have not respeced to anything. I took a look at my equipment during lunch, none of it even gets close to what i need based on the replies i have gotten, i guess i either need to go get new equipment or find a master smuggler to slice the weapons to get my numbers better in line, t-21 and advance laser rifle, max damage 991, Sac 95 and 105, and dps 255.
That may be part of the problem
I have been having fun with these new and improved NPCs missions. I am a level 80 MBH and Master Rifleman with 0440 carbineer. I don't wear armor when I go NPC hunting. Before I hit a mark, I go prone, improved duel stance, advanced aim, and advanced sniped. I then go from there on any number of shots. I never use kip or anything of that sort.
The best advice I can give is spend the money or find a nice guy likei did (thanks Cozzmo) and get a kick ass canyon. For unpupped damage 1100 or above. Don't worry bout DPS..no need to. Just get a better weapon and a killer PuP to put on it. That makes a HUGE differnce.
Hope this helps.
=)
save or use 4-5 million and invest in a good weapon, an ALR would be your best bet, buy some krayt tissues with say 160+ damage and ask the WS to cap the sac at around 85 , then get it sliced for Max damage which should cap it, then 1 speed and 1 critical hit slice, and you will have yourself an outstanding weapon to use, all in all i spent 3 mill on tissues, 2 mil for the barrel to make my gun(trandoshan rifle), and 3 mil for the WS to make, then 7 mil for and ADK. It was rather costly but i have a gun that is SAC capped, Damage capped and base dps over 310, depending on what im doing ill use a certain power up accordingly,
Although with your template i think it really helps to master the most professions you can (2). Because i am MBH and Mrifleman, i have timed each shot that hits for the most damage, Adv Critical from MBH, and Improved headshot from Mrifleman, this way i hit one, and by the time i go to click the other shot its ready to go. I never have had ANY trouble with the Boss marks, i dont use pets, i dont use droids, I might use foods but those are more benficial for PVP'ing.
This is what I do and my attempt to help you, you can PM me with specific questions you have
btw i AM a respec noob and i know for a fact i can take out ANY non jedi profession, and am capable of taking out full temps, just takes time to learn your profession and the skills that come with it.
Ok, I just reground MBH for the 3rd time, and honestly, this time was by far the most fun and challenging. I have a somewhat similar template (MBH/MCarbs/CM1000) and I have only been taken out by a mark once - wasn't paying attention and ended up walking into an elite level 77 mark at level 71 ![]()
First, I would start taking missions at your level or 1 below until you get comfortable with the difficulty and your template. I've noticed most of the boss marks tend to be 2-3 levels higher than the mission and this way they should still be in reasonable range for you.
Second, if you have the SP and the XP, pick up medic 0020 while you finish CM, the extra +10 heal eff might not sound like much, but every little bit can help. Also, what power are the stim-ds you're using? If they aren't at least 1100+ power, shop around. Also, a mistake a lot of people make when they have medic is using stims when they need to- get in the habit of using stims before you get into trouble, with the minute (30sec w/ ruby of course) delay between uses, you should be using them FIRST, then using your bacta heals to keep up with damage until you can stim it up again.
Foods & spice- this is all I use and even with the above incomplete template, I can take the 83 gold elites out. I drink brandy, eat pikatta pie and booster blue pre-fight, then have sythsteak and ruby hot-keyed for when/ if I need it during the fight. (If you don't mind the expense, sub brandy for BoH or Mando wine for better drink buffs). With the fill of steak, I only take it if I start falling behind on damage and stims aren't available yet, also lets you go on the offensive while the mitigation lasts.
Use your skills, from the sound of it, you're not using rifles to your full advantage. As a long-time rifleman, I would probably start with cover, conceal, then sniper shot, leg shot when he starts coming towards you, then do your kick-up shot, duelist stance, KD, crit and head shot- by this time even an elite mark should be feeling it. If you start running low on action go to standard low cost attacks until your duelist stance runs out, then you should have regen'd enough action to do it all over again (duelist, KD, crit, head shot), since there's the extra 20% damage bonus for hitting a KDed opponent, it's best if you have problems with action management to try to conserve as best you can until the right moment, then pound him for all you're worth IMO.
Like I said, I did the tree using this general philosophy with B-A-D armor (bone with 2500 leggings and 4300 chest resists lol) and a little above an average carbine and had very little trouble, so I hope this advice helps you out - good hunting!! ![]()
