Thread: These elite marks are killing me

Ok, let me first say that i am a new BH, and still a novice, my templete is 2444 bh, master rifleman, medic 0400. I am working towards CM 4000, but not there yet.I have done a lot of reading and i planning on hunting jedi once i make master, but while working on my investigation branch i get a lot of elite marks. I have a friend that is a MBHcl80, i am just now a cl71 as of last night, and he has helped keep me alive on a lot of the elite marks, but if he isnt there to heal me i get incapped before the guy is even 3/4 down on his health. I know these are the elite marks because they have 1 chevron on each side of there name, and i dont qualify for boss marks yet. Here is the important information:

- I typically pull a mission with a difficult of 1 higher than my cl level, almost always an elite, but if not, the missions are easy. The Elite marks are always 3 or 4 cl levels above me.

- I have a t-21 (i think that is the right name) rifle and an advanced laser rifle, both modified to dish out between 500 and 1000 damage, with i believe a DPS of 450 (some like that)

- I use ruby biel, and foods to buff my healing and regeneration rates. I have the stim-ds and bacta toss ability And yes i have decent armor, recon type with the 5k and 7k energy and kinetic stats (dont remember which one). I wasa MDE before this and have a data pad full of cl30 combat droids, last night the mark took all 3 out over a period of time and still had 1 half of his HPs left or regenerated to. after my last incap

- The attack method i use best is to sniper them first, does about 2000 damage, them imediately get up using kick up shot and go to dueling stance, i knock them down once up or while getting up togive me some time. I have ranged shot set on refire and have that going between special attacks. I use the heck out of head shots, torso, and critical.

Like i said, a mark with a cl level of 3 higher than mine that is not an elite, i can take without even healing most of the time, but the elite marks seem to dishout to much damage. They are hitting me with an average of 600 to 800 per shot, sometime lower but that is not that often.

Any suggestions from the elite BH community out there, i see a lot of post with people saying they are easy and that they kill jedi nightly, what are you guys doing that i am not. Becuase i plan to hunt jedi as often as i can, but if the elite marks are supposed to be easier, then based on my experience i dont stand a chance.

Any guidance would be great, i learn somewhere

My only suggestion would be to get a decent Combat Droid to use as a backup.
You're doing everything that I do, about the same level, only diff is I use a droid.

And most times I don't need him, but when I do (Like on those Elite HAMmers), it's nice to have him!

what are the stats on your armor, and do you have psg's?

i, as cl80 master carbs/master bh/novice cm w/ some fs skills almost took a double chevron boss w/ 33k ham AFK

i was at work, and as soon as i engaged, the owner of the company came walking around the corner.

i got him off my back, came back to 25% health, healed, kd, snare, run out of range, heal and waded back in, and got him.

if you are taking too much damage as a rifleman, you are not using your tools effectively, try gettingt several COVERED shots off before you sniper, also use terrain and objects to go heal if you are getting low.

Also be known, i think rifleman has the worst defenses of any of the ranged classes.

I feel your pain. I of course am a Master BH at the time now though. I thought my main problem was always my armor, so I fixed that issue. Then I went looking for a better weapon, but seems the post-cu DPS stuff on weapons now is nothing like what alot of the pre-cu bh's had. I am lucky if I find a DPS for me that is over 400 yet alot of others tell me there weapons dps is like 600.

So if this si true then I must say we have some pathetic weaponsmiths on our server. Unfortunately I do not think its that I think the pre-cu BH had their weapons from then and they are a a tad better than what we get now post-cu. So any insight on that may help us know what you and I are doing wrong. My main problem is on the boss marks, they own me and I basically do the same as you except I am the master bh/cm with pistoleer 0003 template.

You should be constantly healing, rotating STIM-D's between your bacta toss. Have duelist stance up every 30 seconds, get a weapon with an extremely LOW sac. Then put a SAC pup on it. You should be using Adv critical shot or headshot, whichever is more powerful as your default attack. Ranged shot is for nubs.

Alot of people dont realize how much more damage you can do with a weapon that has lower sac that you spam specials on all day compared to a weapon taht dish out a few more dps but you have to wait for action regeneration. I have a damage capped ALR(1184), does 382 base dps and the sac is 91. With a Sac pup, it goes down to 72. I can spam specials on this weapon and not run out of action. For a pistol you want something in the 60's for sac because they fire faster. Carbine you probaly want to get it into 60 as well. I believe rifles because they fire a little slower you can get away with a slightly higher SAC.

If all else fails, snare and kite. Your not supposed to be able to kill stuff that is levels above you easily.

i seem to do just fine on even the Boss marks, current template is MBH-MDoc & Nov Rifles... and this is with pre CU converted wook hunting & battle armor [might as well use it up i made myself 20 suits before the CU]. drag along some synthsteak. try this combo since you've got some healing ability... booster blue, blob candy, maybe some canape or spiced tea. if you've got rifleman break out the startle shot when you need time to heal & save you're adv crit shot/head shot for when you get a KD in, keep an eye on your action cuz if you see your mark w/ a carbine you can be 100% sure he'll be spamming KD attacks. also if they're using KD attacks, kneecap shot & kite em, stay out of his range. hope this helps you out.

ok, thanks everyone for answering so fast.

First i am at work, not working of course, but posting on the this board so i can play the game better, but because of that i cant answer some of the specific questions about stats.

Armor, the stats on the armor is the same as every other listed that i have seen, so i know the stats are at least average. I use the recon armor because i like the ubese look, but if that is part of my problem then i am going shopping this afternoon. I will have to check the stats on my rifles which is the only real weapon i use and see what the actual ratings are, but i will see if i can modify them further, i assume i need a master smuggler to do that though.

I have a data pad full of combat tank droids, these guys knock them out fast, but i use them to buy me a little time. I know they are the best made, i made them when i was a MDE and maxed them out on everything.

I heal as often as i can, but i need to revamp the healing i guess.

Dueling stance, i was not aware that i needed to redo it every 30 seconds so i will try that, i tried the conceal shot a few times, but every time they seem to come straight for me anyway, but i will give it another try. I dont rely on the ranged shot, mostly use specials but have it set to refire to get a hit or 2 in while the specials recharge.

anything else woudl be great, and i know that higher level cls are supposed to be hard to kill, that is why i take them, but this isnt even a fair fight. They can knock me out before i even get them to 3/4 health if i even slip once.

I guess one more followup question, are the elite marks that are 3 cls higher than me average for you guys or should i be doing elite marks closer to my level, is it possible that is the problem

You should attack the mark first ,then have your droid attack and then you move around the mark 90 or 180 degrees. The mark will attack you and not the droid. If the mark is by a lair, put yourself between mark and lair and there's a good chance he'll agro the them.

I am still lvl 38 and have the current build on my template: BH 1100, Master Marksman, Medic 0430, CM 3000, Pistoleer 3111

I NEVER use armor and rarely use buffs. The only enhancement I use are the stim enhancers with the 5m duration to pistol speed and/or accuracy. I do use Brandy. No spice!

I ALWAYS pull the highest mission possible with most marks appearing 3-5 levels higher then me.

Out of all of these opponets I've only been incapped once and it was by a lvl 43 Elite. I recall it having around 17k hitpoints and it did about 350-500 dmg per hit and was attacking once every 2-3 seconds with an occasional delay.

Overall, the best loot I had recieved to date has been from normal marks. (AA w/ +3rifle speed, +3 carbine speed, +1 warfare eff; AA +7 carbine speed)

I'm averaging 185 investigation points of exp per kill. I'm also pulling missions near a BH term/informant in Coronet that is about 15m from each other. I can sit there and pull mission, contact informant, if mission equals > 3km then drop mission and repeat.

Master Bounty Hunter/ Master Rifleman/ Novice Doctor

This is the template I respeced my alt to to get some of that loot that BH marks are now dropping.

Killing a double chevron lvl 82 elite mark with 33k HAMis easy for me.

Some things I have found useful are high energy resist armor, PSGs, blob candy, and a duelist stance macro.

I use the template you are finishing, MBH, MRifles, CM 4000

I suggest finishing your CM first. That's what I did. It will make your life a whole lot easier, especially seeing as that's where you get almost all of your healing efficiency from which is what really matters when healing.

When I fight double elite boss marks I usually start with cover to concealed shot, to sniper shot to knock down then improved eye shot and turning on duelist stance some where in there.

From that point all I do is the kd, startle shot, head shot, adv critical shot(not necessarily in that order) when appropiate, and heal when I need to.

Boss marks really aren't a problem for me the double elites at most are just annoying becuase the fight tends to last longer then most but if you a get a pattern down that you feel comfortable with you shouldn't have a problem.

I suggest finishing your healing tree first because when you are done with that you will be able to heal for about 2k dmg just using bacta shot and advanced bacta toss so you should after having that be able to out last the boss marks seeing as they don't heal.

I really don't think you should be getting these marks when your only level 71. The damage modifiers basically make it so that anything 5 levels above (ish) would be a really really tough fight. To get missions to fight the level 81 bosses doesn't sound right .. and it shouldn't be doable by you either (i'm fairly sure I would get my arse handed to me every time fighting a cl90 mob!)

Are these guys level 81 marks?
