Thread: New weapons?

I don't know about you guys but it seems to me it's just about time we got some new weapons, Swordsman get Hack Blade, Scythe, Rifleman get Berserker Rifle, Drx-6b, Pistoleer gets Featherweight FWG5, Sonic Geo Blaster, etc etc... Now im not sitting here saying that fencers didn't get Acklay for our weapons, im not going to deny that, but i am a bit tired of having our best two weapons be a night stick, and a stick with a point on it (if you know what i mean) i realize that theres the combat revamp which could possibly promise some new weapons, but are fencers going to get screwed over every time a new dungeon comes out as they continue to just ignore us. I just need some new weapons, some new damage, i dont understand the point in making all of our weapons kinetic damage except the stun baton, because that doesnt much expand my options does it? If your out there SOE some new fencer weapons PLEASE! (Any Comments?)

Sword good, ugly sticks bad. Also more damage types, I believe a whip has been mentioned before, I think that woudl be cool, something like an electric whip. But I don't think we're going to get any new weapons until the combat balance, that way the devs only have to create weapons that are balanced for the new system instead of rebalancing weapons made now for this system.

I think the lightfoil is the most likely candidate, but we probably won't see a new weapon till after the combat revamp.

Ok this is not a Flame but as a Master Commando and becoming a Master Fencer 0/4/4/4 right now. We in the commando forum are always talking about new weapons, and how we sux at all things except light candles on Lukes birthday cake...lmbo. But going up the fencer line I thought we would have swords and other niffy weapons not my rodney King stick or my Can Opener. So as a mixed elite prof person yes we need better weapons and such.

I would suggest to wait for the combat balance before you ask for anything. It is just wasted time. I would even suggest we may need to wait till after the Jump to Light Speed launch. Every melee profession has only 1 or 2 types of damage, so saying we don't have variety highlights all the melee classes. Also, with our current defenses, it is hard to justify us needing more damage, we are one of the best professions right now. Yes more variety wouldbe welcome as would higher damage output, but until we see the combat balance, we will not be able to intelligently persuade the developers to spend the time on it.


I would suggest every fencer create a master fencer on test center in preparation for the combat balance. Then we can have all the test results to back up any of our needs for the future.

yes i agree that we need a new weapon, im tired of beatin people up with my "Dildo of Doom" but i think carbineer need more lovin then us...i mean we are good in pvp cuz we have a weapon that all armor is weak too, carbineer dont have any of that...i say let carbineers have their day, they need it more than us

I don't know about Carbiners bud, they have several AP 1 weapons in Heat/Kinetic/Acid, 1 AP2 Energy Weapon,


All of those weapons have equivilent speed and reletivly the same damage, though thier AP 2 weapon Laser Carbine is dern near as powerfull if made properly as any Rifleman weapon.


Not to mention they got a new weapon already, and it's a damn sight better than our equivilent quested weapon.

I would like to see a better AP1 weapon, the devs have said that the revamp will make HAM more important so it would be nice to see a higher damage/higher HAM AP1 weapon to go with our low damage/very low HAM Vibroblade.

I totally agree we need more weapons , its absolute crap that a fencers weapon of choice should be a lead pipe with a spike in it or a truncheon , isnt a fencer by the deffinition of the name someone who would use some kind of foil or sword ? or maybe thats just me .... a second thought would be some different kind of armour for fencers or just more types in general other than the new mando , instead you got everyone running round in comp armour ... sort it out sony , stop worrying about everyones money and try to make the game more enjoyable

Just a thought about the much maligned Vibro Blade...It's only good point (asan AP weapon)is it's low HAM costs and we'd all be willing to up the HAM costs (and SPD)for extra damage. This would make it a much better weapon because, as it stands with Buffs and Brandy, we don't need to worry about HAM costs, we can spam away with our to our Hearts content with Baton or Stick.


Now come the Combat balance this should no longer be the case, Buffs should bebalanced and the HAM cost system will be changed....NOW the little Vibro Blade could become a viable option in it's current state.


Of course I might be totally wrong and it'll still be a useless PoS but it's a thought.

I think we need mroe weapons with higher ap, i mean like ap2 and ap3. But keep them relatively low damage still, this is because as Fencers we are supposed to have accurate weapons that can get through armor with precision and all, so if they gave us that, with low damage, it would make it better because then the armor rating would not matter very much at all.

Ive always thought it was pretty lame how elite profs only had a new weapon at novice and that was it, not even a new one for mastering a prof. Im pleased to see some of the new loots requiring pistol tech 2 for example, i just hope that fencers get a new weapon along these lines too, and soon.
