Yes, armor helps, although yours isn't awfully bad. Mine is only slightly better at 6130 energy resist. Your weapon is good enough with it's mods and DPS. ADK it if you can then use PuPs that reduce the SAC.

Secondly and most importantly, when fighting a Jedi as a carbineer, the trick, the true trick, is not to beat them down quickly. Any Jedi will have heals at least 500, and more than likely, 1500. To win, you have to deal enough damage to force them to use their force to heal, to state them so they use force to remove those states (ie. bleed), to kite and survive while they use force to try to state you and hit you. All said, to win, you have to outlast your Jedi foe. Once he/she is out of force, it's academic, you WILL WIN. You have CM skills, so you can heal yourself. Ruby is a must, as is Veg and Blob. I also am a MBH/MCarb and have been since ranged BH's weren't cool (Pub 6). Good luck and happy hunting.

Better armor, although not nessesarily needed, is a good place to start. When I went from my 3k enregy res to 7k, I totally noticed my fights lasting longer and allowing me to use more heals and specials. I recently upgraded to 7122k RIS and I'm loving it!

Secondly and most importantly, when fighting a Jedi as a carbineer, the trick, the true trick, is not to beat them down quickly except for the initial strike. The 1st strike should be as powerful and chaos wreaking as possible, which will force the Jedi to immediatel use force for heals and force for defenses like aura and armor. After that, only deal moderate damage to conserve your action, anything overpowering will leave you "too tired" too early. Any Jedi will have heals at least 500, and more than likely, 1500. To win, you have to deal enough damage to force them to use their force to heal, to state them so they use force to remove those states (ie. bleed), to kite and survive while they use force to try to state you and hit you. I also am a MBH/MCarb and have been since ranged BH's weren't cool (Pub 6)and I say this as no boast or brag, but I have not lost a fight to a Jedi yet. Yes, I have been killed by Jedi in PvP and duels, but that is different. When hunting I chose the moment to engage and use first strike as my biggest advantage. Good luck and happy hunting.

Lol, wearing out force won't always work. I have been able to stand up to these duels for almost an hour with the results being the BH armor and BH badly wounded, my force still 90% ish and plenty of action left for more.

Just remember there are always Jedi templates that can counter just about every strategy. Wearing force down won't work with me, although I've seen some full template Jedi it might work on, if you can take the damage output from them, lol.

My questions now, how long have you been playing, what professions have you mastered, and how many jedi have you fought.

i've been playing for a long time (not sure exact amount of days) I have mastered Chef, BH, Carbineer, and dunno how many jedi I have fought...not many though. My main problem is i guess is I dont know my profession. I was Master Chef and Master Carbineer for a long time (had carbineer to defend my self) and recently respec to BH (flame all you want)

Generally speaking, yeah wearing down the foe is the best tactic. However, there are some out there that you won't be able to wear down.

My current template is MBH / Master Rifleman / CM 0/0/0/4 (went for thyroid rupture and paralyze instead). I was able to bleed, slow movement, slow regens, slow attacks, reduce accuracy, but eventually he wore me down (wasn't going for solid power strikes - I was trying to use the terrain and snares to stay ahead of him).

Eventually he got me. When we were talking after the fight, we talked templates and I said I had been trying to get him to drain his Force pool. Apparently I'd barely put a dent in it.

Ya, get to know your profession a little better. I suggest doing some of the new BH NPC mission and you get the bonus of loot. The NPC's will give you an idea of what you can do and allow you to try new tricks out without too much chance of loosing.

Your template is pretty strong and your equipment isn't bad at all. Just a hint, I have 3 weapons on my toolbar at all times, one is set for low sac, one for high speed, and the other for high damage, this gives me the option to switch depending on the need.

A previous poster talked about duels to the death, I don't like the idea as it is an unnecessary wear on your stuff but nothing beats dueling a jedi to tell you how to fight them. Also remember that we are weaker than they are (my opinion and what the devs stated) so underhanded tactics is how we secure victory, in that I mean never fight a jedi who is prepared, you will probably loose.

Oh and good luck, you will need it.

I sometimes do not fight like I advise but that has come with getting more experience, what I recommend here is what you should do for the first 10 kills or so, then you can start to develop your own style and tactics....

1. only attack if you have achieved complete and utter surprise.(meaning you can frontload a alot of damage, getting a clean KD, followed up by a Torso , ADV Crti combo, followed by stopping shot , Torso, ADV crit combo as an example. This will guarantee the jedi to be in a defensive position after the the first strike. You have forced him to think of only two things at this point, running or healing first AND then coming after you.

2. Only engage if the Jedi, in addition to being completely surprised, is not buffed or his force is down, or he is engaed by MOBS or creatures. Even if you achieve utter surprise like #1 above but the jedi is not in a tough spot (in other words he is buffed and not distracted or engaged by other PvE activities) you can still lose dramatically even if you cause massive damage before reaction, so DON'T engage and follow this rule.
If you follow these two rules and drop the mission whenever you can not engage with these parameters, you will achieve success . There is nothing wrong in doing this. This is the BH way and Jedi's are 1.5 stronger for this reason.

3. Learn about foods and how they best compliment your personal template, seek out high energy resit armor, slice it for Armor break if possible. Find a good weapon with high damage that you can slice for speed. Add a power up to the weapon to let it produce even more damage (so cap damage with weaponsmith and Power up, slice speed).

4. Add a duelist macro this will help alot as well, here is one I found on this forum:

/macro Duelist

All of you who say stuff about gear not being important and concentrate on practice and skill are feeding him total bullsh1t. U guys are talking nuts. If you are fighting padawans sure my grinding composite armor can do the job perfectly. Don't feed him the wrong info. Get to the point. If u guys are talkin bout strategy and practice as the point, you should be playing Quake or HALO instead.

Since the CU, gear IS the priority. Period! Go wear your 5000k energy resist and face a M LS and come back tell me how you do. 6k aint nothin either. Why are people spending over a million on a CA or AA that boost a few points of accuracy? Cos it matters! A dam noob jedi who knows how to press saber armor break and power strike can whoop you Boba-Fett wannabes. When it comes to AAs and CAs gear, even the simplest Terrain Negotiation bonus matters.

With the gear, it will supplement your skill and help you practice better. Period!

Aitass dude, get 7k - 8k energy resist armor. Sad, but you gotta part with the RIS or make a new better one. Drop in a PSG. Get fat with the right foods. Get high on some pixie etc. Just like Yoda said: "U must unlearn what u have learned." Well, of course that applies to Jedi, but the concept is the same.
