This is still being debated. Originally there were supposed to be minimum ranges eg. 0-35 Pistol 10-50 Carbine, 35-64 Rifle. So, once someone came too close you would have had to change weapons. Only the upper ranges have been changed and whether to increase everyone to max range or institute minimum ranges still or add heavy accuracy penalties at melee range is being considered.

As it is, Rifle + Root FTW.

Tanks, let us know when min ranges are confirmed by the devs and will be workin as such in live. Thks in advance.

personally Im just dissapointed eyeshot is no longer the best special in the game..

Otherwise brief pistol/BH testin worked well, favorite special was stopping shot of course. Damage was a little weak, but Im sure that will be different when using weapons not got off the frogs.

I haven't had a chance to get on the test yet. Hopefully this weekend I will.

I mainly have been testing MBH with Master Pistoleer.

Pro's -
Stopping shot -> Confusion Shot -> Underhand is a nice combo - root then KD them. Make's kiting extremely easy. How well does this work against Jedi?

Disarming shot another good special that integrates well with BH. Do the Jedi drop there sabers?
Crowd control from Pistoleer takes away the main negative of a vanilla MBH.
Good DPS pistols from Master Pistoleer, from what I saw they were better then the High Cap Scatter.
Lots of pistol speed mods, allows for a lot of damage very rapidly (critical shot and scatter shot were great).
In PvE, fanshot is fairly effective.

Con's -
Lack of range, unless you're constantly trying to root, you're an easy target for a melee (jedi). What is the range of a Jedi's saber?
Defenses are decent, but not exceptional. Still, a good couple of melee hits and you're down.
PvP versus multiple targets makes you an easy target to pick off (weakness of BH and Pistoleer is seen here).

I also started testing with MBH/MCarbs. I haven't messed around too much, but I am liking it a bit more now. The supression fire is excellent (area root), which makes fighting against multiple targets much more feasable. Crippling shot is a very useful special to use as well.

So I'm thinking of going MBH/MPistoleer, and pick up a few skills in Carbs to round out my lack of area/CC elements.

I can't say much for hunting vs. Jedi - Gorath was the first/second server up with the character conversions. Jedi specials and sabers were extremely bugged (MLS would one-shot pretty much anyone). Range on their saber throw looked like it was roughly 30-35m, and force specials around the same. Disarming shot seemed to work, it is just a combat delay from what it appears.

But the first combo I mentioned did help against jedi that I dueled. If they were MLS, I could kite somewhat effectively, though they would spam their saberthrow (which was bugged and still doing a KD) and would cause problems that way. On powers, it wasn't as effective, as they have a better root then stopping shot (yet the jedi are crying nerf for stopping shot already, when they have a better root ), and their added range made it difficult to kite.

I'm thinking MBH/Pistols is going to be a good setup for Saber-focused jedi, but MBH/Carbineer will be better vs. Force-focused jedi.

Hi guys, i'm coming back after few months break (i think 4 or 5), and i'm doing what i wanted to do since beta : BH (i didn't have the chance before, and at release BHs were really bad ).

I'm going MBH, Mpistoleer, and smuggler pistols 3 (or 4) and slicing terms.

I forgot to tell what i like or not ^^ well it's not final now so i can't tell much bout it but, i love pistols, i mastered every other weapon so far but pistols are by far what i like the most, and it's quite powerful and responsive, with a nice combat range.

Adding the smuggler moves to the BH gives good boosts and a bigger variety of attacks (and i think last ditch will be the most powerful in the CU), Mastering BH gives good defenses in the CU i think thoses added to MP defenses will be enough.
Another point is that specializing in one weapon is good to hunt jedis, u can take a group of few BHs each specialized in a different weapon, so u can all attack the jedi at full power with the right moves and DB him like he deserves it.

Tanks a question: Is there any plans to speed up BH's ability to swap weapons in combat? Allowing us to switch from pist to carb to rif quickly? If there isn't any plan to do this, does there need to be?

From what I've seen on test, there is no more delay with switching armors/weapons. I was switching from different pistols and carbs on the fly with no noticable delay.

Tanks,

I'd like to test the possibility of this template but the frogs don't give all I need. I hope to find out something good or bad, if I could just find some babies to tame:

MBH

M Creature Handler

Pistols 4400

although I may drop the mch for more pistols, I need to find the right balance of pets to tank for me, I think I found a winner though

root just needs to be removed. its completely out of wack. both as a BH and a jedi. as a BH there wasnt a jedi i couldnt kill using root to re-open the range rinse repeat till dead. the only class that stands a chance against root is another rifle user.

no skill should completely remove another character from combat and allow them to be damaged at will. root is a EQ skill and has no place in SWG.

the KD move is fine now because it gives a short advantage and is not overpowering. using root against non-jedi is just as effective. its the new kd/dizzy move and should just be done away with now before it gets out of hand on live. its no different than novice brawler warcry on live.

Well i tested MBH/Mpistoleer/0440 carbineer for a while and liked it (except for the lacking range)

Now ive changed to a "mess around" temp which is MBH/Msmuggler/0004 pistoleer. Its fun but you can see the difference between the two temps i tested.

Still havent found a temp im really enjoying, anyone have a suggestion?

Last Question: (maybe) Will droids be effective again in combat and PvP? Probots etc...

I have been testing Master Bounty Hunter/Master Marksman/MasterRifleman/Pistol X/3/X/X. Damage output in nice in PvP. I have been haveing problems getting up once I get KD'd. I have tried different combos of KD Recovery and Stand but I just lay there dieing slowly. One other problem that I have is too many specials. That sounds like a good problem to have but I have 4 UI bars filled with specials. It can get confusing. I know I will get better with practice but until then I find myself in the cloner alot.

I went through few before I found one I thought was good enough.

I am currently Master Carbs Master BH Master Marks Pistols 0003.

In one on one duels the only template I have lost to is A TKM/DOC/Swords who used tk weaps.

I have defeated 2 pistols/bhs and a a rifles BH.

Oh I forgot i lost to a rifleman commando pistoller but it was close we incap with ion half a sec of each other.

Gank squads on TC are to thick to get any overt combat against a Jedi that lasts long enough to test.
