Thread: Question about Droids
Being a MDE I can probably answer this one.
Droids are now the same or stronger than BE enchanced pets, they have a CL of 18, compared to CL max level of 10 for BE pet for a non CH. You can also have 5 Droids on your data pad, compared to 2? Pets (not a CH so not sure) so you can mix and match your droids for whatever you are doingso you can have aHarvest Droid (Harvesters droids are a must for any RMs who also harvest Meat/Bone/Hide as they can increase the amount you harvest, and let you stay prone and at a distance), a ranged combat droid can add a little punch and cause some extra damage to bring down a difficult mob (Probot Combat droids can do 160-180 Dmg with attck speed of 0.8), plus a storage droid. Droids can be built with storage compartments that hold 10 items, the items stored are immune to Death Decay or Imperial scans (I use mine to hold my armor)
You're best bet for a nice inexpensive tank is a LE repair, with 2 Auto repair modules and a combat module. The repairmodules actually heal the droid as it fights. It doesnt heal much, only 100HAM or so every 10 second Pulse, but it helps. You can also get repair kits for droids that work like Pet stims. A Repair kit D can heal up 2k of Damage if made with high quality resources.
Max HAM on a LE Repair is 6k, with no armor but 20% Resists to all and immunity to posture changes, Dizzy, Stun, Poison, disease plusmost bleed attacks (supposed to be immune to all of them but its bugged <sigh>
. Plus if you get one with a Sarcastic personality chip installed, it actually complains when you sent it off to attack something ![]()
The LE Repairhasapretty slow movement speedand is melee only. If you want enhanced auto Healing abilities you might be able to find R3 Tank droids, these have less HAM (4.5k) but have ranged attack (mini Lightning Gun!)and the capability of taking 5 Autorepair Modules(so can repair more damage per'pulse')plus 1 Combat. These Droids are also alot faster and keep up with the user on foot, but usually cost quite a bit more.
If you do get a tank droid with Autorepair, buy a crate of batteries as well. Autorepair eats power, and you'll proably need to recharge the droid every 15-20 mins.
If you use them with other players, the droids can actually keep each other healed (the autorepair heals any friendly droid within 30m range) so if you get7-8 people with tank droids, they can actually heal each other for about 1k per 10 secs!
Droids have really been buffed up alot since the last patch. Before Pub 8, I would have agreed with Sotaudi, but with the increased HAM values(in Pub 8 all HAM for Combat droids was tripled!), Autorepair Modules and Droid 'Stims' I think now have the edge over CL10 BE pets.
I sell LE Repair Tank Droid for 35k, the R3 Tank goes for 60k, batteries go for 100 cr per charge, while my Repair kit go for 1k (26 charges 1250 HAM healed per charge). If you're on Corbantis, look me up and I can sort you out with a nice tank.

Yuo have to have a flight computer or an astromech with a data module installed. You need to program the droid you are using with the commands you want to use. Then, install the droid like you would any other component on you ship. It should be the last slot on the Manage window.
