Thread: A dying game
Same here Vezek.
I love Star Wars. Always have, always will. And I still love this game. I have been playing it since the first month of it's release. I guess I am just upset on how SOE is pushing jedi on us. Think of all they have done: holocron gifts, pub-9, removal of permadeath, removal of sabre TEF, double exp, and respecs (sure the last two were for everyone, but they especially helped the jedi grind).
If there was another Star Wars MMORPG I would definately quit too.

yes it sucks. It's funny how most of the hardcore star wars fans are the ones that don't want to be jedi. We want to be han solo or boba fett...Id even settle for Lando.

WoW = 2mill players worldwide
SWG = 250k players worldwide
SWG= 20 servers???
WoW= how many servers worldwide? 400+ i think dont remember, its insane
point is, this game could have had the most players of them all ,(everyone loves star wars, but because of constant bad ratings 7.3from gamespot, FFS, and everyone that plays teh game bitching about it (its true we all b!tch) so dont flame, because this game sucks, (im addicted, but i know it sucks)
they should have waited 2 more years before releasing this game, maybe, then MAYBE it could have turned out better,
oh and if Lucasarts (and some other company had made it instead of SOE, ) maybe it would have become better..... MAYBE!!11!

Yes I fear the only thing that can save this game is if they come out with SWG II and do it correct from the beginning. No friggin' holocrons and no pie smith patty cake BS when it comes to an Alpha class.
If you're going to put a MMORPG in this timeframe as SWG is suppose to be in (
), then Alpha classes should be either tied to the GCW, or auxiliary Alphas that have a function for or against the GCW Alphas (like, oh, say, smugglers and bounty hunters).

For me, SWG has always been about the challenge and the "adventure". If I wanted to play a UbEr Jedi and hack & slash my way to UbErDoOm then I can play any FPS and put on "God Mode" orplay something like KOTOR I and/or II.
SWG appealed to me because I can play in a virtual universe that is constantly changing and I can customize my character to fit my play style (character development and adventure). In the beginning, despite all the bugs, the game fitted very well with my playstyle. I remember having tons of mature friends in-game where we would hunt and PvP. Win or lose we had a good time.
Now the game seems to be tailored towards the under 20 crowd. The ones who just want a "God Mode" and want to be rolling is $$$. It is still possible to "tune them out" by getting with a good guild and just avoiding putting yourself in situations where the kiddies ruin the immersion element of the game... Problem is, SWG gets smaller and smaller as more and more kiddies fill the SWG ranks with SWG's asinine marketing tactics: Jedi.
Jedi could have been implemented in such a way it would have added to the game but it would have taken long-term planning and the ability to accept short-term profit "losses" for long-term profit gains.
Atlas, that is not the way SOE operates. So, I will continue to play my toon the way I chose as long as I can... I still hope things will somehow get fixed... But if not, I can always E-bay my future Jedi and not only come out with a bunch of good memories but also come ahead financially. Course this is long-term planning on my part, something SOE isntfamiliar with

The people who I feel got ripped off the most by SOE are the pre-publish 9 jedi; and i'm not even one of them. They spent a lot of time grinding and mastering professions in order to become jedi only to see themselves get nerfed back down to 1.5 times the strength of a normal player because as more and more people became jedi, the weaker and weaker jedi had to become. The final product is this watered-down jedi profession.
I agree. Jedi simply had to be nerfed due to thier sheer numbers. SOE is not helping matters by making it easier to become Jedi. All that they are doing is increasing the Alpha class numbers wich will in turn require even more nerfs.
Give it 6 months, and Jedi will be no more powerfull than a Swordman Doc/Cm with a glowing sword.
