Well, all depends.. You should first start paying attention to your droid, if you see a pattern like he is doing missions from a player city (like someone else said) or standing still for a periode of time he is almost 100% fighting something or doing mission. But if he is in the wild i drive my swoop to about a range of 130m and store it then walk to about 100-110m where if you stop you might be lucky and load up the lair or see the damage count over their heads without loading up the creatures or the Jedi. If there is a lair i keep it targeted and wait for him to start finishing it off (bigger chance he was wasted a lot of force on battling the creatures who lived there) and i make my run. First thing you need to keep your eyes open for is a parked swoop - That is the first think you should go for. Personly i only need to fire two /stoppingShots and they are disabled.
- Then you will quickly notise if the Jedi is going to fight you or run.. If he is charging start kiting him and try keeping out of range if he gets close you better have SynthSteak and /intimidate1 (Novice Brawler) so you lower his damage as much as possible while you try to kite him, while kiting him and he is range of you try doing some /supressionFire's and get him to posture down! If he catches you and doing alot of damage and he/she is blocking to much you better have some burstrun food and /warCry, thise two can save you from a incap and buy you some time. While fighting a mark and he suddenly starts running start to run after him and do a steady fire of /supressionFire's to try and slow him down (or KD/Dizzy shots if you use your Carbine)! If the Jedi starts to get out of reach you need to have burstrun food as well and a swoop on your toolbar (much easier to call).. Burstrun is raster then FR1 and and when hunting 100-150k marks FR1 is what you will see most likly. Cause most Master Saber Jedi dont run from a solo ranged Bounty Hunter

What I do is dismount my bike about 350m away from the mark (I'm a MBH, so I have near constant updates), do /maskscent, and then I walk to the mark. A /tar (Jedi's name) macro helps, so you can target him the second he shows up to you. If the Jedi is paying good attention, he will probably try and make a break for it, but if he isnt you can get him with his pants down.

I am proud to say this happened tonight!
I am a TKM Bounty Hunter.
So, I just got Investigation 3 and was really wanting to go do my first mission solo. Keep in mind, my guild is "The Scum of the Galaxy" so most of us are bounty hunters or smugglers. So, all my MBH friends want to tag along, and I refuse.
So I buff up, and I go to the terminals. I pick out a guy my friend has killed 4 times in the same day named "Yael." The thing is, my friend has killed this guy so many times, he had just started in capping and making him pay the bounty. So anyway, eventually my friend agreeded he wouldn't hunt him anymore because he was losing so much XP it wasn't funny. But that doesn't mean my friend likes him.
So I tell my friend the bounty I get, and he tells me to give him a message...
So I track him down about 2000 m outside of a Player City killing stormies off with an entire group. Turns out when I got there he was already feining from about to be killed from stormies. So I swoop over him and go out 400m. I come back, and I see him standing with a buddy. I hop off my bike at about 70m, and burst run + num lock at him. Well my num lock kind of got er... jammed. So I just kept 
running by the time I got it unstuck, he was feigned again, but his friend decided to attack me. I don't know if my armor and buffs were so good, or if his friend was tottally crappy, but I beat him down in abour 4 seconds, and deathblowed. I hopped on my swoop and did the 400m dash again.

On the tempest server there are a few large Imp guilds, most have many jedi, one, my mark was a memeber of Agony. Well there we stand one his porch almost face to face, he was hard to see with all10 or so ofhis guildies staring me and my partner down. I thought what the hell, little synthsteak, slice of vercup, and just go to town. On the count of 3 my mate and I dropped the mark in seconds.... with 5 other sabres combing my hair and various other melee weapons flying.. Yes, my mission was complete, yes I ran and swam like a triatholon(cept i forgot to get my bike out).. And yes I went down, but he went first..
/strut .....lol..... good times, i think i have finally picked the right profession for me.

Congrats Merrek. Good to see Tempest has another BH. We'll be getting The Sarlaac Pit up and running soon, so you'll need to stop by for all your BH needs. Gimme a holler if I can help ya with anything.

Ok I got investigation 3 yesterday and couldn't wait to get into those jedi.
I am currently Rebel so promised myself I wouldn't hunt same faction jedi (if I want to hunt both sides I will become neutral).
Anyway, last night I took a few missions, not knowing many of the jedi on our server I found a lot of my missions turned out to be rebels so I binned the missions.
I got one mission yesterday and found my mark xp grinding in the squill caves, I went in and tried to make it look like I was after xp too, attacking squills etc. Well my mark runs past me and attacks a group of 5 squills right near me. Perfect chance I thought, I run into the group and start attacking him, I almost got him but he FD'd and a MLS came and grouped with him. I got pwned big style but it was fun.
Today, after a few more binned missions I finally get a jedi who is not rebel. I approach and see he is grouped. Not wanting a repeat of yesterday I fly round a little and see who is nearby. No-one else in sight. I fly into the lair he is attacking, store my AV-21 (havent got a swoop and certainly didnt want that destroying). And start to attack him, I bring his mind down and drop him, before I get chance to DB him he /forceOfWills and gets up. I take him down again and DB him, then /nod.
I got a some abuse after this from his friends, apparently he was in a rebel guild, but if he is not rebel then in my book of rules he is fair game. After explaining the situation most people were cool with it, I did get DB'd by one of the people the jedi was grouped with on the way back to the starport (I made sure I ran there) but I didn't care, I had just killed my first jedi!

nice job man. and u did the exact right thing with the second time u hunted. always wait to see if no one is around and then attack them when they busy with something else. hehe now u only got 299 more kills before u are a "Brave Soldier".

Finally got Investigation 3 last night and tried to get a few missions...
First attempt was Stonir who was AFK on guild hall balcony with ATST called beside him
Second was Qu'igley or something like that who was also AFK in a house.
I Gave up for the night.
Logged in a fw hours ago and made my way to kadaara, i have low skills so i wasnt' even going to attempt the 100k and up missions, i found a nice rounded 80k mission for a jedi named Silvermoon and i sent off a probe, results came back she was on dant, i cringed since dant is the huge jedi planet on my server with a main city that is nothing but grouped jedi 24/7. i made my way there anyways and saw that she wasn't in -Dagoba- but she was in the Imp Outpost, I smiled and set a probe droid to search and track and went inside the Mining Outpost cantina to get a mind buff from the solo group entertainers, got halfway through buffs and noticed something funny... 5th name down my list was Silvermoon :-)
Finished buffs and flew to a city close to Imp Outpost (if she had friends i didn't want to look suspicious) then i got on my bike and rode her direction. I got to her and serached the area with tab while still riding to make it look like i was just passing through. She was by her self about half way through a Piket lair, i got about 100m away and sent a friendly tell..
I tell Silvermoon, "Do you have a support character, my buffs are running out"
Silvermoon tells me, "No but Lyala can give you an invite to the solo gorup and we have dancer and musician both"
I tell Silvermoon, "So how is jedi? i've got 4 branches of FS done and can't wait till next phase"
Silvermoon tells me, "Constant grinding but if you have 4 branches you already know that"
I kept up the good converstaion and got closer to her on bike and saw the spawns were dead and she was finished off lair so i said my goodbyes and told her if she needed any help vs BHs to send me a tell and i was gonna wait for her to get in teh middle of another lair.
I waited about 2 mintues and got the tell...
Silvermoon tells me, "HELP (coordinates)"
so i head over and see Hagahooah, a wookiee master BH attackign her with carbine so i kind of giggle and she tells him that he is in trouble because her freinds are starting to come when she saw me pull up.
So i got off bike ran toward her and spammed Eyeshot with my 375 max FWG5, took about 8 hits and she was incapped and i got DB, about 4k investigation xp, and the reward was split since i was still in group (did she get part of it?!)
Well i was gonna check out other bh's badges to see if he was master carbineer and when i targeted him i had forgot i had my macro going and since i was in her group i started defending the jedi!!! BH pulled a geo and made fast work of me and got DB, lol.
Jedi sent me tells telling me to peace and thanking me for my help and blah blah...
So to sum it up... I befriend jedi, i "defend" her from a BH, I get DB, then other BH kills me, and best part is THE JEDI NEVER KNEW I WAS ATTACKING HER!!!
btw, during the befriending process she said she was tkm and rez and buff lines of doc, said she was giving up TKM on her next jedi box, and i was 3030 BH and 2002 pistol.
