Posted this at the bottom of another thread and thought it deserved some exploration. I'll be honest, and say that I'm not sure if this was even put forward before, I have not searched on it....
I'm also a supporter of only allowing Bounty Hunters to hunt Jedi that are active participants in the FRS. This would in essence remove the "forced PvP" argument from the community. Currently a padawan/Jedi can be attacked anytime, anyplace. To forward public acceptance of the Jedi, I propse to have the FRS be re-instituted (with changes of course to prevent "fight-clubbing" to level up, etc). If you then decide to join the FRS, you will be overt all the time, anytime in your faction (as it was before). This could easily transfer to the BH terminals and allow ONLY active FRS Jedi to be on the terminal.
So.... since you cannot be a knight without joining the FRS, you will NEVER be a night without allowing hunters to come after you. It's an individual player decision. How far do you want to advance your character/template? Your choice.
Comments?
I fully expect something like this to happen soon. SOE is not happy with the angst that is going on with the jedi/bh population...
I also expect some npc BH system to go into effect to keep jedi from gaining viz...a NPC BH would be dispatched of the appropriate level to fight the Jedi...
I have thought something like this has been in the works for a while...would be nice to see a DEV comment on it.
EDIT: I also really think SOE will put in a risk for BH too...something extreme as item decay reguardless of insurance and or something as subtle as an xp loss...losing master BH box and all saved up xp and the BH would have to regrind it...make it a large amount of invest xp to master...

If SOE does put a risk in it, it wont be anything worth worrying about....maybe those cybernetic limbs lol
They want BH to go after Jedi and thin them out. Like bmill said its the casual player I'm worried about as well. Not everyone can play this thing 24/7 like alot of these kids that are on. Thats one reason I went BH, pick a couple marks a night, crop off the loot at the house, and log. Maybe pickup a huntin party. One of the cool features of this game is be able to play a jedi...dont penalize ppl for wanting to play, just make the game playable by everyone as a whole.
The casual players pay just as much as everyone else for their subs, but to get on a couple hours a night, or a couple hours a week to have your toon griefed....that ruins the game for ALOT of ppl. And even tho with other MMOs under their belt, this will get more CXLd subs and this will be the beginning of the end for SWG.
This is probably the most unbalanced system in the game.
I used to be on 6-8hrs a day, then I got a life...I chose not to unlock my Jedi over a year ago cuz I knew SOE would allow this BS to go on. I chose not to unlock, not after grinding, but after playing my toon.

To clarify, I do know about the benefits of the FRS to jedi with the bonuses they receieve with rank and why the old system was flawed, etc etc. Right now we do not know how strong a FRS jedi will be going through the ranks, so IF needed, more power should be given to them beyond what the FRS gives (basically just up the FRS power if its not enough).
But, at the same time, without being able to determine template status of a jedi, it would really suck to pull any high ranked jedi mission solo.
That's the gamble. I agree that there should be something in the mission profile about the Jedi's Strength. They could make a database merge type field. Instead of saying:
"When I waswalking in Coronet, a Jedi attacked and murdered my wife...." It could take the FRS title assigned to that Jedi and say "When I was waling in Coronet, a Jedi Knight/Sentinal/Guardian/Master attacked...."
I would think that would be the easiest way to fix the issue, and requires minimal programming on the development side. It still maintains the hidden identity of the Jedi

This idea has been stated a number of times in both the BH forum and in the Jedi forum.
It is simply 'JUST NOT RIGHT' that low level padawans are being hunted by Uber Elite BH Jedi Killing Templates. The leveling system needs a revamp as well when it comes to a 54ranged complimented with a 54melee to still allow you to pull lvl 80s....sorry thats messed up. They had it partially right b4 when your lvl was determined by the weapon in your hand and your skill with it. This is being complemented by the fact that no one is over lvl 80 and mobs now have a cap in the 90s.
If and when they rerelease the FRS it will not be at all like it was before (kinda like how the CU changing every aspect of combat).
If they would act on a proposal from all aspects and professions, they would probably bring it back with this in mind as well as a non force ranking system for those who wish not to PvP, but allow for a Knight to SOLO a themepark for knight status or equivelent like the trials (so to say) and rework the visibility to coinside with Jedi lvl (which would be directly related to FRS ranking) and again skill with a specific weapon in hand. (I dont see this happening w/o SOE confusing things more)
BH of all lvls should have the ability to hunt Jedi, the Jedi with the bounty on his head would be the same lvl as the BH who picks his bounty. (give or take a lvl or 2) This would also eleviate the piddly Padawans from trying to defend against a MBH/MCM. So much for their COMBAT BALANCE lol
One thing is for certain, they will be changing Jedi, FRS, Bounties and things of the sort with future publishes. Unfortunately they will not be anytime soon as other professions have higher priority bugs and revamps to worry about.![]()

True, our issues are not as grave as say.... smugglers who have never been able to actually smuggle anything.....
I agree that I can pull "Freshly minted" padawan missions as a Master Killing Machine at random from the terminal. The other night, I pulled a mission, tracked it down, and when I got there, it was a level 57 padawan. I killed him without even putting my armor on. He later told me, he had been a padawan for about 1 day, that was his first outing with his LS in hand, and I absolutely obliterated him.
But if you follow that line, that could happen enough and so frequently that that poor guy never has a chance to grind his Jedi up to anything worth playing.
It's not the power players I am worried about, it's the casual, few hours a week players that worry me. If they are hunted 100% of their time online, (which given the record numbers of BH's these days) it's a very real possibility that they will be given such an expereince deficit that they cannot come back from it, will become frustrated and at the very least destroy their Jedi, and/or quit the game.
