Thread: NPC Boss Marks Post-Pub 24 (Updated)
I fought gold chevroned boss marks yesterday
First onewith 32k ham that was very easy andsecond onewith 33k ham that was insanely hard. The first one was using some crappy cdef pistol or something and never did more than 30 points of damage per shot. His health was regenerating pretty fast, but still an easy kill.
The second onew was totally different. When i start by shootin him (i play ranged char)it instantly KDd me with using kinetic pistol, changed weapon to some kind of 2h sword, ran next to me, put root and armorbreak on me and started hitting over 1k damage per hit and that 1k is after armor+foods+duelliststance reduction. On top of that it had extremely high health regeneration, unlimited action bar, was using specials from at least 4 different profession and was constantly burstrunning or warping so snaring him didnt help at all. Only reason why i killed it, was that i managed to kd it and that for some reason made it put away its sword and started using bare fists (still doing aklmost 300 pts per hit after armor)
Now i dont mind that boss marks use specials or are harder than before, but they should not have unlimited action bar enabling them to spam all the most powerfull specials all the time, their health reg should be tuned down and most important of all, they should not warp/burstrun all the time making it impossible to kite them.

MBH/MRifles/CM4xxx
Did 14 missions, 10 White Elite NPC's, 4 Gold Chev bosses
Gold #1 33k Ham Used a carbine, rifle, and 1h sword. Used many different specials, took 9mins and change to kill.
Gold#2 32k Ham I got killed in 3 hits...still don't know what happened.
Gold #3 34K Ham I used cover and conceal shot never got hit once, was on Endor in the desert... won't even go into my stupidity trying to take on a Gorax.
Gold# 4 32K Ham Instead of sittign back and killing him I went mid range and was always just ahead of his Health regen. Took 14 mins to kill. Snares and nutricake kept me far enough away to not get messed up by his 600+ hits.
Gold #3 His health did not regen at all, he never found me.
When #4 was shot for the first time and saw me his regen was a pumpin'...I think as long as they don't find ya they don't regen.
I'm more concerned about the loot than how freakin hard they are. If they were this hard and the loot was the same as before(before the silent adjustment to BH loot) it would be fun, atleast I knew it was worth something.
I started this BH to get the Weaponsmith loot, and in 72 missions since Sunday, I have got not ONE.

Ok first I was reading the posts and I was thinking they can't be that bad, on my 15th mission I got a double gold chevron. I didn't even stand a chance. I have been a BH since Dec. 2003. Here are some of my stats.
Template - MBH, MPistoleer, CM x4xx
Scatter Pistol 1.03 Speed, 936Dmg, Sac 46, Accuracy 1
Armor - Using PvE Armor, not my elite stuff I use for jedi but still 7k energy (Sliced for AB)
Attachments - +36 Pistol Speed, Healing Efficiency +31, Medical Warfare +10
Food - Pika Pie, Spice Tea, Blob Candy, Bofa Treat and some other goodies as needed. Spice - Blue Booster
Doctor Buffs
I started off with a Blind Shot, figuring I would take less dmg if he was blinded. Then I hit him with Fire,Poison,Disease,Bleed. By this time I am hurting bad, so I bacta shot, using my Janta Stim, and still have to use bacta spray (not a great healing move but i was hurting bad). Then Igofor his regen rates or thought i would. Improved confusion shot, intimidation shot (nothing lands). So I know I am dying here hit bacta shot again and throw a wild advanced critical shot at him (566 DMG). Meanwhile I am getting hit for 880-1097 dmg (and I have my duelist stance on too). Healing again I figure my terr nego must be better I will root him and run up a hill and try to get away. Wrong again 3 advanced stopping shots all failed. A few heals later, I am in the cloner.
Now all the hardcore BHs will say wear 8k recon, that wouldn't have helped much. Do I need to improve my skill, I don't think so I have been playing this profession for a long long time. I have great techniques, I am able to solo GDK, Giant Krayts. But this Boss mark tore me to pieces
Not anymore.....this is a little off topic, but there´s no way in hell these suckers will be soloable as it is right now. I could say the same as you pre pub24, as I easily could solo these creatures. But as I tried a Krayt yesterday, teamed with another ranged guy and a jedi...I realized we didn´t stand a chance. This change makes me think aboutwhat the DWB must be like now.....
Hunting jedi however....has become easier...

Armor - 6500 primus battle fully adk'd, AB'd and +350 health bonus

<<34k ham cl 82 Double chevron>>: Killed me by the time he was just below 1/2 ham.
His moves cost no action and he never lets up. Some of them hit extremely hard.
My action was gone after the first minute as if I was unbuffed and un pup'd using a 125 sac weapon. Landed blind and stun with the usual frequency/infrequency along with bleed and rupture. He didnt miss me no matter the stat he was under. Noticed no drop in his DPS either.
Nothing I could do alone to escape/lessen hisdps. He wouldn't switch to melee no matter what I tried. He kd me at every oppurtunity keeping me from regen'ing my already trashedaction. I cant increase my dps, i cant increase my armor resists (that would make any real difference) I cant increase my healing. I cant take these bosses as they are now.
I dont have a default shot set for marks. Imay have to just use ranged/placed macroand hope I can heal long enough to live through it while I fall asleep from boredom wondering what i have special attacks for in the first place...boooo!!
Edit: came back to the mark few hours later and he was CL -1 !! minus 1 that is. was about as hard to kill as s regular mark pre 24, maybe a little easier, but didnt drop anything, but mission was success. Something odd going on.

NPC's from what I can tell across the board have enhanced regeneration to thier health pools. I think the sucess results people are having has allot to do with build and play style. We should attach that as well so we can see who is doing better against NPC's, particularly the higher end mobs.
I run MBH, MCM, 0 4 0 0 Carbineer, better then average gear, all sliced. Fully buffed, food and doc. (btw that new food for stat removal chefs have is going to be a must use item it works very well).
Tried one elite boss mark with 31k health bar, this thing ran me into the ground. The fight was over as soon as I ran out of mind and action, it just healed back up and stomped a mud hole in my backside. I use a low sac puped elite carbine, 60 sac for reference, this mark simply outlasted my ability to fight it fully buffed out to the max. I have had fights with jedi last longer, and me have a full action and mind bar at the end of it. I found this one NPC tougher then al lthe jedi I have faced to date cept for one, lol. And I would say this thing killed me allot fasterthen he did.
I found the regular 82's from the 31k payout missions doable with a bit more work then before. Some, the higher Health ones, 20k range, were allot tougher fights then the lower 17k health npc's. What made the biggest difference was they specials the npc was using. Some used less effective shots ( warning shot, startle, something like that) , while others went for the roots, KD's, and stacking effects on me. The latter being the harder fights by far.
Debuffing with the CM abilities seemed to be a must. I tried one (19k health, 82, from a 31k payout mission) were I did not use my CM debuffs at all and the fight was significantly harder to win by far. Effects and abilities now seem to play a much more front and center role. Tactics and control are a must, and the fights seemed to be good lead ins for how to fight jedi actualy requiring me to think about the next move or counter move, rather then simply crit spamming the mark for a few quick credits.
I found that every NPC I went after did nothing but spam one special after another at me constantly, at an imposible to match rate for a player. Action and mind debuffs are usless on them, so thereis no easy way to disarm this machine gun special effect they have going. If I fired the same specials at the same rate, and healed as much as the npcs do, I would drain my buffed pools in a couple min easily if not faster. I honestly think even jedi will find NPC's a formidable challenge now lol.
*IF NPC's (marks in particular) are going to remain tweeked up as they are, then at the very least the health pool amounts need to be adjusted downwards some to compensate for the increased leathality and healling ability granted to them.
I like the tough fights and all, it does make it more interesting, but in the same respect I feel this will only serve to limit ones options for a effective template. What your going to see is eveyone either a MCM MBH or jedi, or some hybrid of the three.

34k mark on Yavin, hardly scratched him (got him down to 29k i think) Got owned 3 times. I was hitting him for 600-800 dmg, he was doing 800-1000 dmg. Just insane ![]()
Muloki Freelight
TKM MBH, Novice medic, FS melee speed 1
Capped on Speed and accuracy
weapon Katarn knuckles, lvl 30 combat droid
armour TK innate, CoB, duelist
Buffs 4x doc bufs.
I had no problems keeping on top of the health regen, I stood still in front of them, kept them KD armourbroke, and a droid attacking and attacked using basic melee hit melee strike most of the time. Standing still the mark also stands still, and accuracy and hit ratio means the damage is kept constant rather than erratically hitting big and not hitting twice. several lvl 81 double gold boss marks taken on like this have yet to see a lvl 82 double gold.
My thoughts at the moment is that consistancy with the damageis all important.
